Please don't rollback the whole server

I have spent 16 and a half hours and cleared 412 geysers and I FINALLY got the Ul'vor staff today from a geyser. If that has to be rolled back to save characters, that would only be fine if you add the pages to the event store for 5 tickets and extent the event by at least 2 days. This grind is the worst I've seen yet for a time-limited item and honestly doing any more of it will probably make me rapidly reach my breaking point with ESO after all these years. AND I've still got the Vvardenfell pages to get.

*Edit* Just found out what was going on. Dang it. I just spent some endeavors this morning on getting that crown crate Welwa mount. I hope that's not messed up and lost. I only just barely had enough endeavors to get it, so I know I didn't get any free stuff from the PTS, which I haven't been on today.

I'm sorry but fixing the entirety of the NA server that is now susceptible to the biggest economy crash in the history of the entire game (people with 1B gold and infinite mats), people losing their characters and gaining max CP and max collection is more important than a single outfit style drop.

We need a rollback, the damage caused by a bunch of dirty exploiters bringing back tens of billions of gold from the PTS to Live has to be fixed by any means necessary otherwise the player economy will see prices double overnight, infact saying they double would be an understatement because a lot of these players would of brought back their PTS template characters who have containers which contain infinite materials, there would be a complete economical collapse.

Someone mentioned on another thread before they saw someone giving away over 200 attunable stations away for free, the fact they did not try to charge for them also implies they brought back billions of gold, that is a very bad thing.

It would definitely be rolled back to a state before about 5:30pm ET when the PTS servers went up (1.5 hours ago as of time of writing), so if you got your page after that, no dice. Let's just hope it doesn't get rolled back much further than that.

However, you might be able to get something from customer support. I hope you've taken a screenshot of your loot, as I suspect they might not honour restoring your style page without evidence.

If the server must roll back, only roll back accounts that logged into PTS. Then Track down any transactions they made on live after PTS went live. Hopefully this was caught before anyone thought to exploit it heavily.

Yeah, I got it at 6 and immediately posted in 2 discords so I have records of it, but I'm hoping they can rollback specific accounts instead of the whole thing. Worst case, anything those people bought goes into the ether but the ppl they bought from keep the money. That'll take a while though since they'd have to look at each individual account affected to see if they spent the gold in a suspicious way (mailing or buying ridiculously priced items such as 500m for anything but a white gold recipe)

I'm going to guess that any accounts which touched the PTS will be temporarily frozen to have their activity and transactions looked into so that damage can be mitigated as much as possible. At least, this is my hope.

As a side note, how despicable does someone have to be to realize that there is an error on the PTS, then spread the error further in the guise of a "giveaway" that contaminates the accounts of innocent and unsuspecting players?

I can only hope that ZOS will handle this in a manner that has the least negative impact on the player base possible.

It would be a difficult endeavour to only roll back affected accounts. It's simple: the affected accounts can trade with other accounts, thereby affecting those accounts too; they'd have to investigate a long chain of who got affected, then you'll get situations where someone who got something mailed to them by someone random getting their account rolled back for seemingly no reason, losing hours of progress.

I don't know but from what I remember Character copies to PTS are a day or two older than live, unless they do character back ups hourly or something, then that is what I would expect for this major of a flub. The other option would be back to the last time the main servers were taken offline for an update.

People got the gold and mats without doing anything wrong. The people who distributed it are obviously wrong, but merely getting the gold by accident was not the fault of the players. To get it you just had to go to PTS and make a new character. That's it.

It needs to be rolled back full stop. However, I agree the grind for the pages is ridiculous and it's unfortunate that some people might have finally got them within the time frame of the server issue.

Like OP says they should be purchasable with tickets and the event should be extended.

The roll-back is needed. If you have proof that you had the style page/motif, then send a message to ZOS once the servers are back up and if you dont have your item, they might be willing to send you a copy. My friend had a motif that dropped on the 8th but lost it to a rollback that happened then, contacted ZOS and they gave him a copy of it. This isn't a for sure thing, but its better than nothing or throwing a bunch of hate around the forums that can cause a war or a lot of issues.

That said, I don't think anyone anticipated this issue, and ESO is such a huge game, with so many different forms of code and different coders having to come in and fix old coders stuff, that their coding is like a giant spider web, one wrong move and you're caught like a bug, becoming the new bug that causes issues in the game, and the game is the spider coming to eat said little bug.

I agree with this 100%.

It's unfortunate if a roll back has to happen but for the health of the game I understand why it may be necessary. But the Style Pages were already a great source of frustration for so many, so putting them for sale for tickets would be a really great good faith effort to lessen the burden of both of these things.

I guess I should consider myself lucky that after 240 dolmens, I didn't get the drop today when I logged on.

I detest this grind, and I would have been heartbroken (in my own nerdy, first world way) if I finally broke the wall with my stubborn head, only for the wall to reform because of some PTS exploiters.

What a nightmare for anyone that got this god awful event done during the timeframe, though. You have my full sympathies. This is the most miserable event I have experienced in my entire time playing this game. I feel for you, genuinely.

I concur that this seems like the best course of action. Even those of us who didn’t get a style page in the affected timeframe are still losing a day’s play time. (…and Endeavors. 😫 Goodbye, 200 Endeavors from pickpocketing! 😢) And I certainly wouldn’t mind being able to buy the pages I was missing and go back to usual Anniversary activities!

True, but this is ZOS’s mistake so they should make things right for players who would lose items like this, or give everyone a voucher for an event style page of their choice.

Hopefully they can cross reference who was on PTS and just fix those accounts, I don't even use PTS and would lose a whole mornings worth of legit gameplay. Are there really even that many accounts that logged into PTS this morning, I would hope it wouldn't be that hard to fix and just ban those that exploited the error.

Pretty difficult to see case by case, specially if they don't have records of each account and the server they have logged on. Most probably will be a rollback up to a certain date. I probably will need to redo quests on some of my alt accounts because of the Thieves Guild event.

A bunch of us have PTS and Live and logged today...just roll back to yesterday, and offer an actual concession to the entire player base.
