So far, the ceiling for Merryvine Retreat could be heightened significantly. It's such a lovely spot to build a tower, and more vertical room above the vineyards or back where the windmill is would be very helpful.

As we've grown to expect by now, the new furnishing styles are just half-available. A double bed without its matching single bed, etc etc. I would compile a list of all the things that aren't there, but I can't really be bothered since I'm fairly sure ZOS already has a list of the assets in the game, and should know perfectly well which ones aren't available as furniture. Very tiresome, I love especially the rustic Colovian style of furniture, but you can't really make a house in that style since it's so incomplete. RIP ESO.

Ah, two new giant homes and an inn room. Pretty much the staple, now. No smaller homes, no single-room with a nice yard, nothing for the median-income earners. It's either free, costs millions, or crown exclusive. More properties I won't be touching.

At least the furnishings I've seen so far are nice.

What are your general thoughts on new houses?
Merryvine Retreat is ok, height limit is also mentioned here already but needs to be way higher. Wasnt a fan of the Khajit style home personally, I think its the southern Elsweyr style textures that dont do it for me.

What I really wanted is a plot of land to be honest. I love building custom structures with my homes and we havent had a plot of land for a few years now.

What do you think of the new furnishings?
Really nice furnishings especially the Mirrormoor and Dawnwood styles. I also love all the new food type furnishings, very detailed with great textures.

Where are the castle style pieces?? The castle theme in Gold Road looks incredibly amazing but I need to build with them... unless thats a few update later in the year.

Do you have any other general feedback?
Only general feedback I have is please please please dont set the drop rate of plans to a super low RnG value. The content the artist and builders do in this game is off the charts yet to actually get these things to drop so you can craft with them, be creative and enjoy the content is mind numbingly painful. Even if we had a vendor to buy them from like psijic order zone it would be much better than trying to hope for maybe a drop from the already massive loot tables OR (and I have provided this feedback in game before) make it a guaranteed drop once per day from that source.

I'll post more feedback in game once I have time to explore in detail.

As mentioned above. Most houses look nice but are limited to what I want to do. Give me an open area and let me build what I want. So far Moonsugar Meadows has been the best for this but need more options and different styles. Not everyone just wants to decorate a prebuilt structure.

Yeah this. I was so excited seeing all the vineyard/winery themed furnishings (I still am). But the half available furnishing styles thing is just... IDK. Really sad. Housing is one of my favorite things in this game.

What we've gotten from the Colovian style are beautiful though.

On another note, as others have mentioned the new foods and stuff are amazing. The beehives too are soooooooooo cute and them being activatable so you can have little honeybees buzzing around is so wonderful.

I feel like the texture on the honey jars is kind of weird though. The glass is too smooth or something compared to a lot of other glass textures.

My thoughts are, did we really need another Kahjiit style home when Bosmer have not received a new one since housing was first introduced (and none of the original ones were that great to begin with)?

The house is fine, but I already have enough kahjiit houses. Thank you.

Give us a crumbling ruin being overtaken by the forest.
Give us a bosmer tree house that does not look like a big pod.

This was going to be the first chapter in awhile with bosmer content, and you made yet another kahjiit house.

Zhan Khaj Crest is in a strange place, surrounded by enemies. Leave by the front door and you step into a questing area full of trash mobs.

Not good for the home owners, and not good for the immersion of the people doing the Southern Elsweyr questline.

    A bad choice of location.

Trees are pretty. Nice to get more in autumn rust colours. The vine arches are nice, not sure will have use for vineyards, but good to have anyway. Cheeseplates and the big cheese wall thingy were fantastic. Not quite sold on bookshelves yet, but nice to have more options anyway.

Houses seemed pretty nice from what I saw, but will have to explore myself. Not very excited for khajiit style again, but the house seems ok for building, so that could be fun. I like that the pool is swimmable.

I have only looked at Merryvine so far, but it put me off looking any further. Seriously, who would build a house where the corridors and stairways have windows, but none of the rooms have them?

The new houses and furnishings are amazing! I just wish we had more stuff available to us that's already in game - I couldn't find a desk in the new style, and many old furnishings are also still unavailable to players.
And once again I'm asking: please, add some weapons and musical instruments as furnishings. There are already models and icons for them (Solitude quest, various forges all around Tamriel), and they are some of the most common things in fantasy tales. So why not?

I love both houses. I love that Merrywine is able to be bought with gold, assuming that's true. The Khajiit place looks good for my necrokitty if I get it and love the layout and scenery.
Merrywine is just so pretty. The new furniture is great and very opulent, love the cheese wheels and honey and bee items and the awesome chairs etc. As someone else said more pieces to complete sets if possible.
    Looking really great.

I love that there is finally another home that can be bought with gold. Merrywine is lovely! I particularly like that the grape vines and windmill can be removed if you wish. Inside, the rooms have a generous footprint, are rustic, and have an old medieval feel. The ceilings are finally tall enough to allow for most chandeliers- something I struggle with in most of my houses when they have to hang so low or their chains go through the ceiling above! I feel that this house could have a lot of different decorating possibilities. The furniture that was shown in the furnished version was a beautiful combination of shabby chic and elegant, and I am looking forward to these possibly being available in furnishing plans.

As to the other home that is available, I haven't looked at it yet as I have no interest in another Kahjiit style home. We have plenty of those already and I am extremely disappointed that there is no new Wood Elf home! WE NEED MORE WOOD ELF HOMES AND FURNISHINGS- especially ones that show more creativity and imagination!

the furnishings in furnished Merryvine are all available as furnishing plans except i believe the paintings, windmill, and uhh Systres potted plants.
Though some furnishings in the outside area are home goods of course.

we got quite a few new Bosmer furnishings in update 42! i counted 21 when i looked at the new plans.
there's a few bosmer achievement furnishings and stealable tool furnishings too.

i am hopeful for a bosmer home in update 43 or 44, wishful for 1 in each of those updates.

What do you think of the new furnishings?

There are a lot of great new food furnishings that are definitely the stars of the update. The cheese board, grape board, bowl of grapes etc. are fantastic additions to housing that will fit nicely in a lot of homes. All the new wine furnishings (bottles, crates, barrels) give some good variety after using many of the same furnishings for years.

The books that can be bought in the Scholarium continue the recent trend of interactable books with unique covers which is really nice to see.

I don't really care for wood elf furnishings so can't really comment on those beyond noticing that they aren't very many. I imagine wood elf fans will be a tad disappointed in the limited selection.

The Colovian rustic furnishings aren't for me, but I'm sure others will like them for their cottagecore aesthetic.

The new Colovian noble furnishings (at least the ones available) are generally really good too. They look expensive and noble, without coming across as too gaudy (in my opinion). I love the counters, planters and the armchair. However, the bookshelves in particular are disappointing for a couple of reasons. Using base game book textures when there are so many more recent, higher quality book textures that could have been used instead is a bit of a shame. More importantly, it's really frustrating to see just how empty the shelves are. I understand wanting to leave a little space here and there for people to add to the shelves by placing books or other knickknacks, but when the bookshelf is less than half-filled, it's difficult to build a convincing library. This feels like a big step back from Necrom where it felt like we were finally moving in the right direction by having the bookshelves look convincingly filled.

The number of furnishings that aren't available, despite existing in the overworld, is also a big disappointment. We didn't get a desk furnishing in High Isle, Necrom, and now Colovian styles, despite this being a rather key furnishing. We are also missing a chest and double bed in the Colovian noble style which similarly seems like an unfortunate oversight. The single Colovian noble bed is honestly just confusing though and I don't understand the intent behind the design. It's clearly based on ancient roman beds, but both the 'pillow' and 'mattress' look like thin sheets stretched over wooden blocks. Combined with the lack of a blanket, the whole thing looks deeply uncomfortable and more like something you would lay a cadaver on rather than use for a good night's sleep.

Love the style of the Colovians. Seems a little light on furnishing though. Desks/cupboards/beds/benches. Not gonna put that pretty red bench outside! :) but we do have enough rustic benches now that we can probably make do.

Love the windmill. Let’s hope this is finally the year for a wide variety and larger quantity of structural furnishings! I hate waiting 6 months only to get 21 of the most mismatched and gappy plans. Roof tiles! Gabbles! Walls with windows we can see through! Castle bits and pieces! Ceilings! A basic rustic wooden fence that is used in pretty much every zone. Could go on… and on… and on.

I’m a little concerned about not seeing a well available…. Giving me ‘high isle’ anxiety. No well, then all the structural items (most) turned out to be so gappy that I don’t think I’ve seen someone build in that style… (go revisit that for us- hopefully our man Zanil can start working on blanks).

Long story short, give us more! :)

I only looked at Merryvine Estate so far. Really like the layout and general style of it but why doesnt it have 700 slots? The house itself is quite big and the outside area too so i think 100 more slots are a must for it.
I really like the new willow furnishings too that the furniture vendor offers.

    because it's a classic home.
Only notable homes have 700 slots, with eso plus.

it would also cost around 3.8 million, like Daggerfall Overlook, or just be crown only like most other notables.

but instead it's a reasonable 1.3 million, like other large classic homes.

What are your general thoughts on new houses?
I am super miexed about this!
On one hand I have asked for a vineyard and you gave me one! AWSOME!
On the other I asked fo an awsome few down a hill or mountain on the city of Skingrad and some Aylied ruins. Sadly I did not get that... The few sadly does not offer much...

I also did not get the townhose I wanted inside Skingrad. And the cealing of the rooms in the new Skingrad arcetecture stile feels so high up. It is somewhat irretating.

Then, we for some reason got a house in an old zone... Why? I don't get why and I did not feel a house like this was needed for the chapter release. I personally was hoping for a Skingrad townhouse or a new Aylied ruin to call home with the release of the chapter. A new Bosmer home is also something I'd understand and what many Bosmer player have been asking for. So why a Kahjiit home?

What do you think of the new furnishings?
Furniture is also a mixed bag.
Gladly someone already made a Vido on YouTube to show the new Items.
On the Imperial side we got 2 styles. One for the rich and one more rustic the commoners.
All the red and gold stuff is a bit to much for my taste yet it fits Imperial culture.
The rustic commoner class furniture with it's kind of used look fits a garden but is a bit to "low end" for interior stuff for my taste.

I am missing an middelclass furniture set for the Imperials of the gold road!

Of cause we also got some Bosmer stuff that looks good so far and fits the theme. Yet I am not a big Bosmer player so...

Last but not least we got some Aylied stuff. I've been asking and waiting for more Aylied furniture!

We got little of the new stuff actually implemented as housing furniture yet. The furniture uses iconography that fits the Aylied style yet the forms choosen often don't seem to propperly fit in with the existing stuff.

Here are some screenshots of already implemented structural furniture:
    fqtqgx2mvmbh.png
    fsse6vqeoek5.png
    1qpq10ofszrp.png
The structural fornishing seems to lack the curved elegance of the archways we see at every aylied ruin. Still I saw some of the level designers make good use of them in some Aylied ruins where the look good!

The trees look good at first but they look kind of flat from a different angel and it is whierd that they seem to grow welkyn- or valastones. But I have to note that the trees I saw in the Aylied ruins were not as flat!
    l3cm5vxo0ezy.png
    vli2rn00eo01.png

The smithy with the smal armboss on the table felt kind of whierd for smithing.
    w0wydwjt73gj.png

Of cause I also saw other furniture in the open world that is not yet housing furniture!

I was asking to tables and benches, as well as other furniture like chairs, beds, wandrobes and so on.
    tyrbw6u94ob7.png
    cqsp112p3iov.png
What was implemented looks kind of blocky. As with the structural furnishing I expected something more in line with the elegance of the curved archways.

What I realy liked however are the new urns!
    5wloofpwabvw.png

Over all, I don't know. I was waiting for Aylied furniture! Yet the way it is implemented does not seem to fit. You can see that the team put in effort to hit the iconography! And it is not a bad designe! But the forms choosen often don't seem to propperly fit in with the existing style and that is super frustrating for me.

Do you have any other general feedback?
I hope for a new Aylied home in classic Aylied style with new furniture that fits the classic Aylied style! Like the new urns!

But I also hope I can warm up with the new Aylied stuff that does not fit 100%, since it is clear the team put in effort!

I like the idea of of Merryvine Retreat. I prefer homes with a neutral, basic theme because it's easier to mix and match furniture styles. The size of the outside is pretty good. We get a decent-sized garden without having to go on a hike to reach the front door.
However I think the house has the same curse as Mary Poppins' bag because the inside is GIGANTIC.
The ceiling is so high my character looks like an ant and the furnishing looks so tiny it's gonna be hard to fill up the rooms and make it look realistic. I don't get why the ceilings are so high when this zone is inhabited mostly by humans and not altmers.
Because I like to create bedrooms for each of my characters and their companions I prefer several small rooms or rooms that are easier to divide with custom walls, rather than only huge rooms. This house has a bit of both which is nice but the corridors and stairs are as needlessly large as the cathedral ceiling for this winery. It feels like a waste of space imo.
Also the windows above the front door don't appear on the inside which is a bummer.

The furniture pieces look detailed, the textures are crisp and beautiful. The food looks more and more delicious every year. As a frenchwoman I fully approve of the wine and cheese clutter, they will fit nicely with the Solitude baguette !

Sent feedback on PTS, not sure if here or there is better? Both?

    Zhan Khaj Crest Feedback:
This is the house I would've been most excited about, it's beautiful and has great potential. But would not buy as-is:

    1. Location is the main draw IF fixed.
Can't emphasize importance of this enough: Judging by comments here and elsewhere, players are tired of Elsweyr houses. But the SE dragon hunt is still one of the most popular activities on PC NA. Dragon-hunters like me, who got Lucky Cat, would love this place to reach that annoying northern spawn...

BUT main entrance is not efficient; for me to spend so much it would have to be better than the wayshrine. EDIT: main / porting entrance should have been in the back for quick access to the dragon spawn. Otherwise it's not useful to port outside of the house. There's the arch in the NW square you can see tents through. Or a trap-door/implied tunnel in this area, that goes out to the waterfall.
    lk402gzfm3l9.png

    2. Scenery is the second draw.
BUT the big waterfall is glitching - textures flashing. Happens outside of the house too.
    vlj8qloujjga.png

2.5. Iron gates on both sides of the North oval area: please make those removable, to see the scenery. A short border would be fine to keep us from running off the edge and dying accidentally.
    vnmqhtocr8zn.png

    3. The tiny steps on the sand-garden borders could be wider, please. Dislike having to jump that when entering/exiting the house.

    4. The usual problem: the big physical size of the space vs inadequate slots is unattractive, especially if this will be another ~$130. I wouldn't use the house interior. (But those filigrees on the roof are gorgeous!) I'm sure it's too late to modify already, just hope slot increases are coming someday. Fixing items in prior feedback would make it more desirable, especially entrance & glitching.

    ...

    Other items:

Absolutely LOVE "Tree, Giant Dawnwood Growth"!!!!! Especially that it's gold-buyable! It's so versatile and high-quality; just 1-2 of these can do a lot of work. PLEASE add more like this to a 2nd round on this vendor, as was done with the Necrom vendors.
    ky1b6i2xyf2t.png

"Colovian Lamppost, Overgrown" also awesome! Those were one of the first things I noticed in the very first trailers; SO happy it's achievement-unlocked.

"Tree, Healthy Willow": very nice since we don't currently have gold-buyable willows, but I wish it matched the existing ones. The color and way light hits the foliage is strange.

This new tapestry is beautiful and I'm terrified of the drop rate already. Agree with @James-Wayne up-thread, please be kind with the RNG on this stuff. We already spend a ton of time in-game because we like to build and it takes forever; don't need a horrible grind on top of that.
    j8i1clt78e2r.png

There's a ton of amazing, jungl-y Bosmer stuff and structures, please add more as future gold/craftable items, similar to the Druidic bridge!
    9eg7i2in7smn.png
    q7l7bcnfogtp.png

All of the new items are beautifully-done and detailed! I'm happy for players who've wanted wine- and bee-related things for ages.

(Final thoughts: as a previously-locked-up player, I'm grateful for our compensation. Yes, it did inspire me to go back in and give more careful feedback. I won't say more here, except thank you.)

yeah but i still think its too big for 600 slots. its massive on the inside so imo you wont be able to properly furnish it. it should be a notable home imo. i don´t see a problem with making it a bit more expensive either. other houses you can buy for gold with 600 slots are way smaller.
or even better, they should give us more furniture slots in general like people want for years now.

What are your general thoughts on new houses?

Merryvine Retreat might be my new favorite house in the game.

    I love the style.

I like how it's got plenty of both interior and exterior space to decorate and that it balances being separate from the more populated areas while also still being reasonably close to transportation.
  • Margravigne
I'm guessing that a lot of the "missing" furnishings people have commented on seeing overland but not in the Housing Crown Store will be craftable from furnishing plans?

If so, will these begin to drop after one of the patches soon so we can start working with them? So far I have found no new furnishing plans, and I've been looting everything in sight for days!

Updating feedback after PTS Patch Notes v10.0.1:
Fixed a few minor visual issues with Zhan Khaj Crest.

Hoped this would be the waterfall, a major focal point and draw of the home. (People freaking love water features.) But it's still glitching, even outside the house. :(
    wlxlg1fg85b6.png

I do hope the waterfall at least can be fixed. But I get the sense that these environments are placed on PTS in an essentially-finished state. So redoing an entrance at this point would be too much work, and it's probably silly to keep giving feedback on that.

Again, in most places I've seen this house displayed (forums, youtube, discords, etc.), most people are tired of Khajiit homes. But there's a big potential audience for it - players like me who love Elsweyr environments and/or would use it for gameplay (porting). But the issues with those potential draws make it unappealing. It has some really cool aspects, but sadly, I'll probably skip it as well.
