I Give Up On This Event

This event is beyond bad, at least the drop chances for the artifact style pages. After about 180 dolmens without a staff I think anyone would have stopped.

However, there is hope, after all of this feedback - there's no way they won't increase the chances soon or at least next jubilee.

Have to ask the people that worked hard for this: how will you feel when something you worked for so many hours will then be obtainable after, say, 5 world bosses or dolmens?

That is something I saw often in WoW for example, rarely in ESO because generally it's a very 'anti-grind' game. Reactions to such changes varied. Personally, I like the occasional grind and wish the game had more cosmetics to farm (and less on the store/crates) but NOT in the form of FOMO, and we all know why they are doing it this way, it's almost dirty.

I have all the style pages. I would be thrilled if they started to drop in 5 pulls and/or were up on the Impresario tomorrow.

I’m sad at how this part of the event is making my friends and guildmates feel about the game.

While I respect events like this and the loot is a big focus for some players I stopped making events a big part of my game years ago before I even started playing ESO. I think it is great that there are items that take time and effort to get via tickets and RNG grinds and people can show off their shinies.

I came to realize I was spending time getting things that did not add any actual enjoyment to my game. It was then I developed the philosophy that I was going to play my game instead of having the game play me. It is a great way to look at these events.

For people who must have the shinies I suggest to Zenimax they add it to the vendor who sells items via tickets. I think we can buy extra tickets from the crown store. Not sure since I do not spend many crowns as I only get them from the subscription.

    Good luck.

well, i got all of the stuff i wanted on my main account. not grinding the dog helmet, i can't force myself to do it, as the drop rates are abysmal. but on my alt account i just want the Staff of Worms. for 3 days now i get back from work after 12-hour night shift and grind dolmens for an hour. so far no staff. fun times. i have no idea who thought that the best way to celebrate this anniversary was mindless grinding instead of actually playing the game. ah well, i'll see you tomorrow morning back in Alik'r..

I have 4/5 currently and I hope they do make it easier. I'd prefer this year but that isn't realistic so I hope next year. I always support bad design being improved.

Good challenges are important to the game, imo.

But there's a difference between challenging and anti-player levels of punishing. This grind is the latter.

Personally, it's the combination of bound, LTO, and ultra rare that make these so unpleasant. One of those things needs to give IMO.

i finished 5/5 a couple days ago, if i were to take a guess i would say it took in total around 8-10 hours spread over a few days but the fishing was fine and just relaxing but i honestly dont see the point of standing around a WB all day or running around guysers and dolmens all day which for the time i was there just made me dizzy or bored and always second guess at wether i should be doing it. at such a low drop rate many were saying they did not really enjoy it and i think a new method of obtaining such things should be there but just not as simple as buy them with tickets, just something a bit more exciting than a really boring grind. if they really want everyone to have one then yes just hand them out free. if they want us to have the pages and enjoy getting them then this was not the way i think. i do admit the event boxes made it tolerable because they are good and it's fun farming those just not at dolmens and guysers :/

I gave up on the motif grind a few days into the event. Since then, I'm quite enjoying since I'm still getting a fair few crafting motifs and a lot of mats.

My main critique is that the playerbase has changed over the past few years and become a lot more casual. This heavy grind was a blast from the past when there were a lot more full time players.

In the future it would be nice if you could buy the pieces from the event store for 10 tickets each.

I was lucky in that I was able to get the two I wanted: Trueflame from a few hours of fishing, and Ul'vor in less than 30 geysers.

Feel awful for those who have strugged to get the pages they've wanted and haven't had any luck. Feels like the algorithim should just increase the chances after x number of encounters.

IIRC zos has a similar sytem in place already with crate rewards, don't they?

Most have put in 8-10 hours for these style pages and have nothing to show for it but frustration. You were extremely lucky.

I'd be fine with it. Though it's nice to have rare items, the true practical value will come from the hundreds of gift boxes which will save me effort in the future.

I mainly like to PVP, so for the rest of the spring and summer I'll be able to focus on that without worrying about mats. I'll also have a lot of items saved that I can sell over the next few months, providing me with a gold income.

That's ultimately how I rationalized committing myself to the grind. I wouldn't have done it for the styles alone.

And if it was miserable for me, I wouldn't have done it at all because, as players in another gaming community I'm part of are prone to say: it's just pixels. Life is too short to make oneself miserable over them. Anyone miserable because of this event needs to ask themselves why they did that to themselves.

I can understand how those that spent literally days grinding for these would be upset if everyone could now get them easily, but this shouldn't deter ZoS from increasing the drop rates now. This is why I think they should give players 5 free crown crates, one for each of the style pages, in a good faith gesture for all the stress this has generated.

    Still trying for Barbas helm…

…today is day 5 since I had last style page drop (Vvardenfall staff), or day 7 since I started WB farming in Vvardenfall.

Honestly, it feels more likely that ZOS will launch cross platform play during this event than Barbas will drop.

I have been fishing for Trueflame most of the day in different areas of the game with no luck and that is what it all boils down to is luck. The percentage chance of getting any of these style pages is probably 0.01 which means nil to none. Those that got them great. Those like me I hang my hat because it could draw out an obsession when I really just wanted to see if I could land it in a reasonable amount of fishing. I have gone through a couple of hundred bait and am now out of coin so there you go another good reason not to buy into this horrible part of the event.

At first I wanted all three staves. I started with the geysers, but the crowds and the inability to get a event box drop put me off that after a couple of days. Next I tried Vardenfell. I like killing WB's and the crowds weren't as bad and I could see the boss to kill the boss, but after hours and hours I got the helmet instead of the staff I was done with that.

Finally I said to myself the staff of worms is the coolest maybe just the one thing. I like dolmens and I always get the box, so better... It's been a week now hours each.day still no drop I'm tired frustrated and angry. This is not a celebration, it's a horror show.

I too am done. WIth nothing to show for all that time spent.

Doesn't matter when it comes to numbers. The event is rigged. Every time you cast your fishing line into the water a random number is rolled and if it lands in the zone that gives the style page you get it. If not you don't. With the percentage chance being so low a player could cast their line over 1000 times and come up empty. I stopped at 200 and should have stopped sooner because of the cost of bait. My mind would say just one more time and I will get it. That is a sign that an obsession is coming out and that is not healthy gaming so I don't care about it anymore and am moving on. Tomorrow is the 15th and that means that the Thieves Guild DLC will be up for free. Just gotta pick a pocket which I have done. The free mount is won by killing 2 bosses from what I have read and the PTS is getting a major update which I believe is the main chunk of the Gold Road chapter. Those are things to be looking forward to. Farming for style pages is not fun.

I got the fishing drop early on, the first day I tried for it-- on both PC NA and PC EU.

I've been focusing on the dolmen drop next, although I haven't been doing hours of grinding each day-- usually no more than 6 cycles per day (18 dolmens). Tonight I finally got the drop on PC EU after doing maybe 12 cycles (36 dolmens) in Grahtwood, soloing most of them since there seemed to be very few players on at that hour. It was the longest I'd spent grinding dolmens on any given day, and it was actually kind of fun; I thought of it as somewhat similar to soloing the Endless Archive, except a lot easier. Now I guess I need to do the same on PC NA.

Next will be focusing on the geyser drop, and I'm hoping it won't be overly difficult to get looting privileges, because I haven't been able to loot the boss yet on the few geysers I've participated in during this event. Fortunately, I've been able to loot the shell, but it was still be nice to be able to loot the boss.

Most of the Vvardenfell bosses I've fought during the event have been impossible to loot, except for one or two that seem to be unpopular with most of the players who've been grinding bosses. I'm saving Vvardenfell for last.
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!

I would be fine with the drop rate being raised, I still have one more to find. Even if I had them all I still would be. Some players get them quickly, some don’t. That’s not my idea of fair.

The fact that not one single person from ZOS has even commented on these threads tells me that nothing will be done, though.

I got 4/5 pages...just have Sunnarah left. Im debating even spending more time trying to get it. The completionist side in me says yes, the rest is saying no as its the style page of least interest to me.

Still, its been such a grind and its very evident both in game and on the forums that this jubilee event has not been the success that ZOS was hoping for. The drop rates needed to be higher.

This anniversary is far from what I thought it would be. I spend a lot of time getting rid of the crap that comes out of the boxes. I am at the point I don't even try anymore. I can't even give away the style pages I am getting. Nobody wants them.

I collected all 5 after an unpleasant grind. However, reading comments here I can sadly conclude I was lucky in my unpleasant grind, for it could've been far worse. These drop rates are absurd, so it wouldn't bother me in the least if they were improved. On the contrary, reading about more people completing their collections would be excellent, more appropriate for a celebration.

I don't have any hopes they'll increase the drop rates for this event. Heck, we haven't even gotten a single word from the devs. I think I read something somewhere about improving communication with the players? That should involve talking to us when we're fine and when we're angry too! A question about Witches Festival decoration got a reply. The Cyrodiil mess got a reply. Why can't the style pages issue get one too? Devs, this is the 10th anniversary event: do you really want players to be left with a bitter taste when it's done?

Here, it probably won't matter, but I'll even poke two of the most talkative ones: @ZOS_Kevin @ZOS_GinaBruno

I got all 5 stylepages relatively quickly.

My partner is still stuck on 2 out of 5, and has given up after ruining his entire weekend.
My guildchat is filled with out-of-luck friends, and zonechat with out-of-luck strangers.
I can't help any of them and it's making me frustraded too.

Please, please, please, find a solution for this.

I would not even feel comfortable using those styles now, knowing so many others didn't get them in spite of putting in much more work than I did.

Again, I'm going to vent. Did ZOS not learn anything from D4's failures, because Blizzard certainly did, and are making huge improvements to D4 (coming soon). The majority of modern gamers DON'T WANT TO GRIND forever for something, and this is one of the reasons why D4 failed so miserably. Modern gamers want to have FUN, and grinding for items with a very low drop rate IS NOT FUN. Why does ZOS seems to think it's some big major thing for players receiving items, that they have to make things so artificially low that it makes it difficult for most players to achieve. This doesn't want players want to play more, it makes them want to LEAVE- again- D4 example.

Personally, what I'm ticked about is the reward boxes being tied to dolmen bosses and NOT the treasure chest. For low level players or players leveling new characters and skills, due to the number of players running these dolmens- it's virtually impossible to ever get the reward box because they cannot achieve the '1 of the 12' highest damage dealers. When you have 20-30 players running the dolmen, the new or leveling character is not going to achieve 1 of 12 DPS, so they get left out. How is that FAIR? You want people to participate, but then you lock out a huge number of players from getting the rewards. Why are you so against players receiving these reward boxes that you cannot simply put them in the treasure chest so that ALL players are treated equal who participate??

Personally I don’t care if they alter the drop chance for a better chance to drop. Took me I think 8 days, 3-4 hours each day due to real life responsibilities to get it. The experience made me loath this game at the moment so I’m taking a break now that I have the staff. I wouldn’t want anyone else to experience this level of frustration.

I can understand the devs want this staff to feel special and unique but, the ability to buy it with tickets should have been an option.

    I got Ul'vor in about 50-ish geysers.
I've tried to get something to drop from Vvardenfell bosses with no luck after 20 or so bosses so far. Haven't even had time to try for anything else. Will try a few more bosses today, but I'm not spending 8 hours farming the darn things.
Luckily I don't care that much about it, although it would be nice to get the staff from Vvardenfell.

Good news is I was able to finish leveling up two characters.

They won't. They've gone far too long without acknowledging the players' frustrations for this to seem like an unintended error.

This grind (and the players' frustrations) is entirely intentional. They are using this "event" as an excuse to drive player "engagement" and use those numbers to perhaps entice daddy ZeniMax Media or investors to give them more funding. They will publish an article or forum post about how this anniversary "event" has resulted in "record player turnout and engagement", sidestepping the fact that it is entirely due to the usage of the tried and true predatory and abusive marketing tactic that is FOMO.
