Necromancer nerf

I’ve been pondering on making this post since so many people will defend any changes made to the game regardless of if it’s for better or worse but here it goes.

Necromancers are absolutely garbage at everything in the game besides tank and even then DK and warden are arguably better anyway . Why did the devs chose to nerf BB among other things to an already terrible class that has the worst dps between all of the other classes. Not to mention with the most horrid, convoluted and overly complicated rotations that even if you’re an expert with the class or its rotations it’s 100% torture and requires 100% more effort to even break even with any other class.

Which means you have zero margins for error and not to mention the mandatory requirements like having dead bodies nearby to even utilize certain skills and passives.

This entire class needs to be scrapped and reworked from the ground up it’s terrible at literally everything. Sorry hardcore main necro players but it is.

    They took away the best necro DPS skill, gave them a situational buff skelly that can be killed, stunned, LOS'd, and still no class MB/MS.

    Crazy.

    Guys over here in the office we decided the worst dps class in the game will get a nerf to it’s dps.

    Shouldn't have broken the law!

    Though. All in all the class design save for arcanist just feels lacking in this game. Too much random abilities slapped together with no theme outside of the animations. Which are also lacking.

    I mean, they skipped the Necro companion, they replaced Stalking BB with GLS, the Class is still plagued with issues like Pets not proccing sets/can't command them or Tethers breaking on LoS, lack of basic buffs like Major Brutality/Sorcery, completely useless skills like Grave Grasp, a more complicated than average rotation which gets even worse in real combat environments where enemies will CC or move away from BB, the Corpse system sucks in high mobility situations, etc.

    Most of these issues have been around since the class released back in 2019, however afaik in the past the class was being carried by exclusive access to old 30% Major Vuln in PvE and Harmony-Grave Robber in PvP. I wonder if people would still take Necros to Trials if it were not for EC. Seems like it is one of the last remaining crutches.

    the Necromancer change is just pure comedy. The absurdity of that skeleton jumping at you just for a buff mainly for another skill. LOL.. Who thought that was a good idea? Que the Benny Hill music.

    Why do I feel like it's one of those 'we spent so much time making this we can't throw it away' kind of thing.. lol, it's literally the same skill it just targets you now and instead of hurting you, it buffs you... 'changes'.

    Very long thread about the necro nerf here, that the necros won't let die.

    I think only one person in 8 pages has defended Grave Lord Sacrifice. It's deffo been one of ZoS more unpopular moves.

    The changes to Blastbones are not the problem. You still have Stamina BB which is just a little worse than its counterpart, so it‘s not like they removed this playstyle at all - they didn’t, it still exists. The problem(s) are all the other small things combined which hold Necro back (many useless / bad class skills, Corpse mechanic, lack of buffs etc).

    Gravelord‘s Sacrifice is a fine skill itself, but it should have never been a BB morph. This should be one morph for Grave Grasp, which is useless in PvE.

    I'm a hardcore main necro player and fully agree haha
    We really do need this class scrapped and reworked so that it functions like an actual necromancer (that is, raising undead minions to fight for us from the corpses of those we've killed)

    Be careful what you ask for. Even with the unfavorable recent changes to Necro, there are still some great things about the class, (which I like the most aside from DK) and them resetting everything might make it worse.

    Its ok to 'scrap it' without necessarily throwing everything away. Right now the feeling I get is there is no real vision for Necro. This might be because they are busy with other things, it might be because they don't know how to rebuild it. Even with the current situation, more harm than good can come from doing anything without having the right vision and seeing how they currently don't have this it might be best for them to just leave us with what we have, if not role back recent changes altogether. (and they should)

    I hate how they skipped the necromancer companion. It's the only class that has no companion counterpart. And you're pretty much on point, the class has had issues since release, but old major vulnerability, and necro being the only source of the debuff + harmony carried the class for so many years. Right now they're only relevant in trials because of Elemental Catalyst, a dlc proc set, but with scribing I'm almost certain other classes will perform this role better than necromancer.

And you're pretty much on point, the class has had issues since release, but old major vulnerability, and necro being the only source of the debuff + harmony carried the class for so many years.     Could be multiple reasons why they skipped over Necromancer companion. They can't figure out how to make pets summon pets, they can't jury rig to make necro skills work without the corpse mechanic, or they are scared if they make something unique (something Companions in general desperately need), Necro players will be up in arms.

    Also I can definitely see EC cro getting replaced when Scrying gets released. This class is about to stripped bare of its one or two niches it has left.

    Grave Grasp is useless in pretty much all environments outside of tower humping in cyrodiil.

    Even more reason GLS should've gone there. One of the morphs is even the exact same idea as GLS - in fact, the effect itself is better than GLS for your class skills, it just never lands
