So yesterday you took down the NA server for unscheduled maintenance. Having now read some of your (very) belated follow up information posts, I can understand why the server was taken down. It makes sense it, it had to be done, It was a good decision.

BUT...

At the time, you gave us no additional information about why it was down, or how long it might be down. In fact, the initial announcement made it sound like a standard maintenance downtime, which up until now have been quite short. That initial announcement was very misleading, and you made no meaningful follow up until hours later, when you finally explained why the server was down.

That explanation should have been the FIRST information you gave us. You knew what the problems were when you took the server down, and you likely knew it wouldn't be a straightforward or quick fix. TELL us that!

Giving us information like this is pretty much the entire purpose of this forum.

Informing your player base that an outage may be extended, lets them make informed choices on what to do with their time. Being the obsessive creatures we are, many of us spent 3-4 hours lurking on the forum waiting for the announcemnt that the server was back up. Or for any other information about why it was down.

You failed us there.

There was no reason to leave us in the dark. We pay you for the privelege of playing this awesome game. You have an obligation to inform us when and why things go wrong, and when we can expect things to return to normal. Many of us (going by the 17k+ hit count on the server outage thread when I gave up and went to bed), wasted our entire evening/afternoon yesterday, waiting for information you never gave us. That was completely avoidable and should never of happened.

Thanks for making a great game, and please don't leave us in the dark like this again.
