Any reason to keep my Templar and Necro characters around?

I try and dual purpose all my characters....usually secondary as PvP, but man...I'm struggling to still keep these two around...seem kinda week honestly. Thoughts?

I got 8 slots....7 taken up. Was going to wait for Necrom to go on sale for the Archanist but besides DPS in PVE the Arch doesn't seem to be much more. So yea....space is limited for characters ;)

I'm doing OK on my templar in Cyrodiil. There was a long time after blazing shield became useles and Radiant oppressed was nerfed and there was no living dark. Templar was arguably worse off in PvP.

Now; that doesn't mean it's near the top couple of classes, or even 3 or 4 in pvp because some are majorly bloated right now. But it's workable.

Necro though. I have to assume they'll do something. It's not just trailing the top classes. It's bad

If not as a viable PvPer, then maybe as a mule? Believe me, if you're a non-ESO+, this is important. And if you have ESO+, you can just log in, do daily crafting quests and get some 4-5k gold, which is always a huge bonus.

My main in PVE is templar. I play all roles with it, including soloing dungeons.
My main PVP healer is necro.

    Can't relate.

To be honest, all the classes suck as dps right now when compared to Arcanist and DK.
If you have good memories of these characters, keep them and hope that there is a change in the new year or so. Otherwise, dump their useless asses!

Given so many on this forum consider the game to be too easy, is having relatively weak characters actually a problem? From what I've read in threads such as the overland feedback thread, that's actually a good thing (for PvE anyway).

Except for prog groups, there's nothing I've ever felt that my necro lagged behind in PvP or PvE so bad it made her an unplayable class. Even then, prog groups generally want everyone to play a specific build anyway so I wouldn't fit into one of those groups whatever class I played.

Honestly, just make them into "crafters/mules".

I only keep putting up with it because of main... You know crafting styles, furniture plans and so on. But I'm basically on standby for now...

Delete them now. ZOS probably won't buff either one until the update immediately after you delete them, so it's best for everyone else if you delete them ASAP.

    /s

Seriously though, I'm 100% sure both classes will get buffed through the roof eventually (because that's what ZOS always does), and anyone saying they're completely useless or "F tier" is massively exaggerating anyway.

Just play to their strengths. I won’t speak too much about Templar, as it’s in a much better place than Necro, but I will say that Necro is far from dead if you play in an organized guild group. The Necro still shines as a PVP support. My Necro is basically a revive/collosus bot. I’ve set him up in full ulti-gen gear (mix of overland and crafted) and basically have an ultimate ready whenever my group needs one. Being able to revive multiple group mates instantly is huge, and can turn the tides of battle. Being able to frequently drop Pestilent Collosus (Major Vulnerability for 12 seconds) on a zerg or a ball group is also very valuable.

Would I play it solo in a damage oriented role? Nope, but I never did, as I’ve always found the Necromancer’s corpse generation and targeting system clunky as hell. I get that they tried to create another pet class that was different from Sorcs but, much like the Warden, I think they utterly failed with it. Sorcs fit my vision of “necromancer” way more than actual Necros. Skeletal minions and zombies should be easy to raise and should persist until they die. Having to micro-manage them and cast skills based on whether or not there’s a targetable corpse on the ground is just way too complicated — especially in a target-dense area like Cyrodiil.

The templar and necro are my two favorites! But I play PvE, so not sure what they are like for PvP.

I have been in trials where the necromancer reanimate skill ("necro rez") has saved the group from wiping. For PvE group play, having a necromancer in the group is a good thing ...

Templar while below the other classes still has a mostly coherent kit. Number adjustments and small changes would probably be enough to put it back within the realm of other classes. Necromancer is just in shambles and need major adjustments. If you need a tank keep your Necro that's the only role they can perform well at, but if you already have a tank and you're truly dying to make a new character then I guess delete it.

Personally in your shoes I wouldn't delete any character instead start doing writs and selling items to get more gold then buy additional character slots via gold for crowns.

Oh...oh yea that's a good idea @Deimus ....I'm sitting right now on 4 million gold which I'll never use really...never bought crowns with gold either so....guess I have some research to do. Thank you!

Templars are really strong. This slander needs to stop. The only thing that has been weakened is puncturing sweeps but they still get the job done. Gone are the days of "toppling charge, jab jab jab jab jab jab". That's a good change imo. A little more damage on jabs wouldn't hurt but beam needs to be brought down. They're one of the tankiest classes and they can still burst your hairline off. They didn't need the beam buff.

My Necros have been relegated to "writ robots" ever since the last straw. Why play a class just to fill the bar with weapon skills? As it stands now MagCros are Literally Unplayable™ and StamCros are... some dudes using 8 or 9 skills that aren't necromantic at all, with a sprinkle of necromancy thrown in there. They feel like low-level worm cultist brutes. So much for the class fantasy.

Necro's are in desperate need of being resurrected. Templars are still OK in PvE. Both can be converted to be crafters.

    Crescent sweep

Hardly stands out from anything any other class would use that actually has burst beyond an ultimate to pair with it. Just slightly cheaper than DB and damage numbers skew DB way especially considered prevelence of vamp as well as it giving a stun and slight passive damage. Save for being purged. But tge, crescent sweep requires staying on the target and having them centered in front of you.

i still enjoy my templar as pve dps, its my 2nd best dps for pve after the arcanist and i still prefer it in some situations over my arcanist

for example i prefer using my templar over my arcanist for vAS+2
    plays PC/NA
    handle @Necrotech_Master
    active player since april 2014

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

They make excellent characters for writs and crafting in general as you don't need the skillpoints for combat skills any more.
