Class set visual effects

The class sets are great, the visuals are awesome and we’ve been granted the ability to not have to wear the set pieces to get the visual effects with the added addition of the motif pages.
Currently you need 5 pieces of the class set outfit pieces to gain the visual effect however when wearing a hat or hiding the head slot your visuals will disappear if you’re using the class set outfit as the head slot.

I’d like to know is this a bug or intended? And if intended, would ZoS care to change this so I can wear a hat/hide slot and keep the visual. I’ve spoke to a good amount of guild mates and all agree that would be a far better design.

How does it work? I've been looking for a way to disable most visual effect from my characters.

My tank, for example, has a purple glowing on the sword that I don't know how to remove. You are saying that we have a way to disable that?

Same happens when you wear a costume the effect just gets disabled. What a shame. I hope it is not intended.

No no, i’m not sure about that but i’m asking if we can hide the helmet of class sets but keep the visual effect.

Transforming into a werewolf causes all of your Outfit pieces to be hidden and thus also hides the visual effects of the Class Sets if those are in your Outfit. Though, you can still get the visual effects from the Class Sets even when part of it is hidden if you physically equip at least 5 pieces of the Class Sets. However, for Werewolf in particular, this is a terrible idea as none of the Class Sets actually function in Werewolf form.

Hopefully this is changed so that even if some parts of the Class Set in your Outfit are hidden (such as via Hide Helmet or while in Werewolf form) you would still get the visual effects from having at least 5 pieces in your Outfit somewhere. I'd like to be able to have the visual effects on my character in Werewolf form without needing to equip the Class Sets in my equipment slots.

I was wondering if you could hide the head or use a costume and keep the glow, but don't have enough of the style pages yet to test (I just keep getting weapon pages so far), so it's good to hear confirmation.

This removes most of the motivation of farming the styles for me, since I really wanted the effect for my sorc, but the sorc style itself is ugly beyond all measure (and the set itself too terrible to use in any content as well). I'd have farmed the place for ridiculous hours if needed if the effect worked with a costume.

Unfortunately i can tell you that hiding a piece wont keep the glow currently. I’ve tested it. Hence why i’ve come to the forums to ask if, firstly, it’s a bug, or secondly, if we can change it so hiding/changing the helmet keeps the glow.

I agree that i’m not going to farm it unless this is fixed/changed as if i’m being honest, for me most the set pieces look okay but dont fit the style.

Agree with OP on the subject.

Off subject, they're all cool, but I can't for the life of me understand why Sorc's Stormcalling set gives purple faint lightning you can barely see.

Why isn't it blue? We're going to get Daedric Summoning and Dark Magic, if anything were to be purple, it would be those. Was a bit disappointed in this.

Don't even get me started on how useless the functionality of the set as a DPS option is. It's been discussed ad nauseum. If it can't replace a generic set like Pillar, who would realistically use it?

I also find it odd that the aura you get with five set pieces does not appear around you in the character select screen, but it does if you get it using style pages.
Still waiting for answers about class set aura behavior, and also hoping that one day hair dyeing will be an option. We know it's canon thanks to a book in the Manor of Masques! (House of Reveries: The Troupe)

It would be really nice if permanent out-of-combat effects from sets and now styles were toggleable. There are set effects that I WISH I could eliminate by hiding a piece or wearing a costume, while others are having the opposite problem with these class styles.

Options, ZOS, options are what we want!

Will a costume hide the class effect?

@Enemy-of-Coldharbour If the aura is from your gear, a costume does not hide it. But if it is from style pages, then a costume does hide it.

Yes it hides, any set piece hidden will cancel the visual effect even if you have the class active (which is super silly imo)

Be careful what you wish for, zos might add a memento in the next major update that creates the visual effect for a couple of seconds. It would probably require 50 fragments with ultra low drop rates, keeping us busy for the next three months or so. :)

So, in reading you guys, you want to equip some pieces and keep the visual effect of a style that you really don't want to use because you don't like it or doesn't fit your style but you still want to equip and disable their pieces but still maintain the effect of the pieces that you want disabled, correct?

If so, count me in. :p
