Companion ultimates

Would it be feasible/balanced to allow players to slot and cast a companions ultimate themselves without the companion present? It'd only be accessible if we have their keepsake. Perhaps that ultimate meter would still build up separately than our own, so it's an extra ability that can be cast just every once in awhile.

The whole reason I ask is it just seems fun having that extra ability on the bar, but there are times when having a companion out is not practical. Their ultimates seem to be very tame and are more like standard player abilities, so it doesn't sound too unbalanced to me. But I don't know all the minutiae as some folks do.

It would not be balanced. Everyone would have to go get a companion for this new ultimate and level it up to achieve maximum damage. If you want your companion to stop attacking something, you can tell them to stop. Its probably in settings somewhere, on keyboard it’s Y+right click or heavy attack to sic them on something and Y+left click to make them stop I think.

How much of a difference would it really make though? It doesn't seem like people without these companions would be left in the dust. The amount of long term and short term damage seems minimal from them. For example, embers ultimate does 1000 lightning damage a second for 8 seconds. That's a the equivalent of a players average DOT ability. But it costs 200 companion ultimate. If I'm failing to understand how significant that is, please enlighten me.

It's because of its seemingly insignificance that I think makes it qualified to be added to the players bar, because that extra little ability can be fun or simply satisfying to use. But it's not gonna change the game I believe.

It's a neat idea. It would be neat if it was possible to interchange Player and Companion skills. Imagine if you could slot Player skills on your Companion, or vice-versa.

The what is the point of ZOS spending thousands of dollars on development time to find a way to implement this, if it's basically insignificant? IMO, I would rather they spend their development budget on a plethora of other things that ARE significant.

Oh you'll get no argument from me that there are things that need triaged. I think just this little extra thing would be a cool small bonus somewhere down the line. I enjoy bonuses to characters, and since keepsakes already employ bonuses to gameplay, I felt a slight bonus to combat from the same source could be also enjoyable.

I understand the cry-out of "No don't focus on that, when this this and this needs addressed!". I've said it myself before, and it's always valid. But I still want to share and see others ideas for future additions. Anytime I wonder if an idea is a waste of resources, I just think of tales of tribute existing and I feel better haha. And don't get me wrong, I enjoy ToT. But that was a main feature to an update. It happened. If zos can do that to their own game, I don't feel so bad about tossing out some "what if's" on the forum yk?

I don’t think it would be balanced nor in the spirit of what companions are for. I’m all for more player abilities that we can access, modify, and use in the usual ways, and looking forward to seeing what we can do with scribing. For companions, I would like it if they had more than one ultimate ability that we could choose among — one for each of their class lines would be ideal IMHO.
