Server Maintenance Shutdown Schedule

Can someone explain the logic [snip] for "when" you decide to take the servers offline??! You always pick the worst times for doing so, it always seems random... like you're rolling dice to decide when! You shut down the EU servers "after" the day reset for that server - by a full two hours... yet you shut down the NA servers, an hour "BEFORE" the day reset for that server. Are you people completely oblivious to the times the respective servers reset? They used to reset at the same time, regardless of where you live... but now they reset at the wee hours of the morning, for each of the respective servers (which is better) - yet whomever is scheduling server shutdowns for maintenance, seems completely unaware of when the servers reset... and don't bother doing it at a time that won't cause users problems, such as completing certain tasks before the day resets - which I would've had time... had the (NA) servers not been taken offline a full hour before the reset!!

If you're thinking that players are going to be happy that the (NA) servers are back up an hour earlier, because you started maintenance an hour earlier... YOU'RE WRONG!!! Most people who play on the NA servers, are either at work or school in the morning. [snip]

"TRY" to schedule your server shutdowns at more considerate times, like "AFTER" the day resets for each of the respective servers... and NOT during the last hours of an event. You've done THAT more times than I can recall!!!

since basic working hours are considered like the old comedy movie roughly 9 to 5 with an 8 hour work day and social hours are roughly considered around that, i would say those hours are pretty considerate on a rough guess at what to choose for downtime when looking at a population as a whole

5am - 5pm for EU megaserver seems like a pretty good idea, at least for here in the UK. As for NA i can imagine it is harder due to the time zone difference from east to west coast. Probably still been done minimise impact to the most number of players.

Calling people who do shift work, disabled people, parents who are up early/late to enjoy a bit of a hobby before kids wake up, or even people who are unemployed (none of your business anyway) “delinquents” just because they can play a game at a time that doesn’t personally suit you is imo offensive and in bad taste.

From my experience on EU servers, they need this maintenance. Symptoms of what i could only assume are compromised servers are evident to me. Perhaps people like to hack eu just for giggles? Zeni has never admitted to security flaws but it seems obvious there have been some breeches of security or maybe it's just the software glitching out. Characters that dont stand still and constantly leap forward even though i have def turned off autorun and disabled keyboard and mouse and gamepad on my end is just one of the weirder experiences i have had. Whatever the gremlins are, i'm hoping they are being addressed with today's maintenance,.

It's almost as if ZOS are planning server maintenance around their staff and not around the player base with a wide and diverse range of availability, circumstance and play times.

When doing maintenance that spans 12 hours and requires employees or contractor to accomplish, it seems to me there aren't a lot of times when it can be done that is convenient for everyone.

I think it is best to favor the employees, and contractors that might be needed, that actually perform the work.

NA server goes down at 0400 EST. That's 4:00 AM. How many players are on at 4:00 EST ? That would be - a bare minimum. Average takes 5 hours, like today. So back online by 9:00 AM EST. Most NA players won't even notice it.

A 12 hour maintenance does not matter when it starts or ends. It will inconvenience Everyone, so that is not an issue. There is No " Good " time to start and stop because the world have multiple time zones.

personal preferences are irrelevant when the same answer is literally impossible for all. You cannot simply say 'off at midnight, on at 5 AM for everyone in the world.

Honestly, I think these kinds of posts are more disruptive than their maintenance. You know the maintenance that keeps the game running?
It would be better if those who keep regurgitating this nonsense were just quietly unhappy rather than making the same thread every time. It's not a constructive actionable complaint. It's like complaining about having to bathe regularly to make sure you are accepted into public society.
