What‘s your main class? [2024 edition]

New year, new thread. I created one for 2023 and 2022, so I'll do the same this year.

If you do have a main class, which is it?
If you don’t, which class do you play the most?
And are you playing more PvE or PvP?

(I matched the class colors with the poll colors, that's why they're not alphabetical)

PvP more than PvE.
I wouldn't leave Cyro/IC except to go to my houses, if given the choice.
Game design requires me to PvE so I do.

My longterm exploration and crafting main: Nightblade, now hitting like a wet noodle since I refuse to slot perma-red-blob focus.

Group healer main: Templar
Solo arena and archive main: Sorcerer
Group DPS main: Arcanist

Other classes and roles I play less frequently. I’ve mostly been playing PVE the past year. I think I’ll try DK and Warden in MYM PVP this year.

I just started playing again, so I am still deciding! I made a necro, warden, and sorc and leveled them all to 20. So far I am liking Sorc the most I think. She is a petsorce with a tank sorc backup build.

Warden, always. Well over 2000 hours played on mine. Depending on the content, I heal or DPS. For DPS, I use either dual bow or frost staves, with a strong preference for bows.

Templar and Dragonknight are my most played Alts. Templar's were my first class experience, so I'll always enjoy them. Dragonknights are just so strong, hard to not like them.

I've played Sorcerer and Nightblade about ~350 hours each. I don't mind them, but overall they're mood pieces. I don't enjoy their current DPS rotation; so if I do play them, it's usually as a healer in dungeons.

I don't enjoy Necromancer or Arcanist.

Templar. I play PVE and PVP (though lean more so towards PVP). Templar isn't in a great place right now, but it will always be my favourite class and my main. I initially chose it as my main because it was the closest I could get to my Lord of the Rings Online main (Captain) when I started playing ESO ten years ago... my, how time flies!

My main is my Nightblade, do most activities on this character daily/weekly

Sorc would be a close second as I do most of my trials/dungeons on this character when I decide to participate in these activities.

For the Next 2 Weeks of Whitestrikes my Templar will be my main as it has the highest rank and I will eventually get to that Legate Black die that I want.

Warden for Life, because of a few things.

1. Bears, Grizzlies and more things to do with Bearing arms.
2. I find that I do a whole lot better as my own Caliber of PvE DPS as a warden than I ever did as a Dragonknight before the morrowind expansion. (Became a warden main after it's introduction.)
3. Travelling tamriel with a bear just feels right.

My story's rather boring. It was April or May 2014, I was completely clueless (as opposed to moderately clueless now) and torn between DK and templar. Picked DK because I still played Skyrim a lot and dragons were cool and all that. I was never one to make many alts, except two mules, so I concentrated everything on this toon, achievements, completed quests, crafting skills, gear, combat, etc. Now it'd be too much trouble to switch mains, so I stick to my battered dragonknight who has never ridden a dragon.

Nord Stamcro because I really like throwing around skeletons and a giant scythe. Is it the best dps, no, but it is the most fun for me. Luckily, I don't really care about vet anything, so it works just fine tanking or dps'ing normal dungeons and trials.

My main will always be my blade. I have over 2k hrs in that class. Sadly its kinda trash in 12 man pve right now which is the main thing I do. 2nd is a tie between my arc and my plar.

It used to be Nightblade until they made the visual changes to Grim Focus. The red lights didn't go with any of my outfits, so I got frustrated and dusted off my Arcanist because I felt too lazy to level a new character. Once I got a build going that's a bit more active than just flail-flail-beam I fell in love with the class and I don't see me main anything else for the foreseeable future.

Warden is my new main. I was a huge fan of Arcanist... until I wasn't. Basically I just felt Arcanist became way too boring because, being a solo quester, I could stand a mile back and hit mobs with the beam- not even use any crux- and just destroy them. So basically all I had to do is use ONE skill, and beat mobs before my companion could even get to them.

So I went back and tried my old main, Templar, and while more 'active' then Arcanist, it was still a pretty simplistic routine. I know some people complained about Templar's nerfs and animation changes... the results are still the same. Even with the nerfs, sweeps is still viable as a spammable and using my old build still works just as well as it used to. However, there was a reason why I left Templar behind, and that reason hasn't changed, still repetitive.

Thus, I wanted something new and different, I also enjoy having 'pets' so it was between Sorc or Warden. I created new characters and tried both, but Warden just felt more fun... and the bear rocks.

I think this is the most even I've seen one of these polls, usually one class is the clear favourite.

My main is and always has been templar, with warden in second place. That's not likely to change, I don't worry much about min-maxing or even having the best builds I can on the classes I'm using and I mainly play open-world PvE so it doesn't matter that much, I just pick classes that pick the character's theme and then stick with them.

I think technically most of my time is on dragon knight, but that's mainly my crafter who only fights at all when he's out gathering materials and can't avoid it.

Realized during these U41 patch notes that ZOS believes Templar supports are in a good place judging from complete lack of changes. So, switched my main and said [snip] that. Arcanist it is.

Dragonknight in low-stakes PvE--don't do veteran dungeons or trials or the like.

Overall I like the class theme and mechanics and find it a very fun class to play.

My main is a StamDK, my original character. She's been through several revisions - hybrid, then crit dw build, bow/2h build, and now back to more of a hybrid build. She's done all the content, main master crafter (all the traits, all the motifs/recipes), solo dungeons and arenas.

Then I levelled up a MagDK and suddenly realized how all the class skills made sense if you overload on the magica. Still my second favourite.

Then a Magplar, which before all the changes was a delight - even more suited to my in-yer-face, toe-to-toe fighting style than the DK. I'm now experimenting with her as an OakenMagplar for IA - HA plus 4 attack buttons and one big heal, brain-dead simple but still fun.

Though I always come back to my StamDK, but now with flames

I love my Breton MagBlade. With a full backstory and character developement during the questing through all of the base game and the DLCs, she grew very close to my heart.

She can do everything except super sweaty combat. But that's okay.

For the most part, my main is my Nightblade, it's altered between magblade and stamblade, and sometimes they get turned into a NB Tank for those days I'm far too lazy to log into my DK. But my NB has been everything and done everything throughout the years.

All the others are one thing specific kinda characters like my Sorc? Purely pvp. DK? Purely Trial/Dungeon Tank.

My MagSorc has 95% out of the playtime and is the 100% character. My favorite alts are all Mag-something. With Staves and nothing else, I loathe any class fantasy that doesn't come close to that of a typical mage.
I did roll an MagArcanist when I came back after a 2 years break though and I'm really liking it. It might become my new main.
I did both PvE and PvP, now I guess I'll stick to PvE since PvP is in a worse state than 2 years ago and I saw what the alternatives have to offer PvP-wise.

I mained a NB on console from release until May 2021, and always wished I had a class change token. Have never regretted maining a sorc since I moved to PC.
