So the new standard is that people cant give feedback if they don’t have a scientific study to back it up?

sorry that it seems like you've been affected by the THICK GREEN LINE too. The study does indeed show that it affects peoples judgement, amongst other symptoms, which if left untreated can result in Wrong-end-of-the-stickitis :o

You def have Wrong-end-of-the-stickitis I'm afraid.

I'm CLEARLY talking about aesthetics, (THICK GREEN LINE) not visual stimulus/brightness/strobing that might adversely affect vision or the brain.

My posts are poking fun at the simpleton graphics of this skill, especially as some people say they actually like it.

Poor graphic representation + strong bright strobing/flashing = undesirable.

    I like the beam.

That being said, it would have been cooler if it were a thinish stream of longish particles (like 10 inches to the avatar) than the fat solid beam we have now.

If bright light and objects affect you maybe try turning down the gamma or brightness and contrast of the T.V./ Monitor. Also they make blue light blocking glasses for gammers that make your eyes less tired looking at screens.

I don't get, they can tone down or even hide other player's AOEs with the in-game setting... why don't they do this for Fatecarver as well? Just make it so other people cannot see it- although I imagine that might be an issue in PVP. Still, I know in Diablo IV, they make other player's pets almost transparent, so they don't clutter the screen.

love the skill. It doesn't in no way hurt my eyes lol - arcanist is perfect.

There's worse things in eso that hurt eyes like twilight sorc pet. and those explosive radiant apex mounts.

They should add some kind of toggle to the on game settings that minimizes the appearance of arcanist skills for those having trouble with them.

I don't think that the appearance should be nerfed outright. People paid for arcanist, and the visuals were a selling point of the class. They're flashy, they're fun, they bring some much needed life to ESO's class options.

Just implement a toggle which works with this class and future classes to minimize the appearance of them so that players can enjoy themselves without having something fun taken away. We all saw how badly animation changes have gone before. Let's not destroy an entire class.

I know it won't happen because it is a class skill but I would like to see the option for that spell to have a new style / colour. Rainbow fatecarvers would be riot in group content.

    Agreed.

To add onto this: If they add a toggle for unwanted visuals, this should also include other major pain points of the community: radiant apex mounts and combat pets (especially flappies).

Changing the visuals (even client-side and optional) only for fatecarver while ignoring all the complaints about other "eye-sore" wouldn't be fair after all.

Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 24 DLCs. 40 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. It's not that hard.

Isn't it already toned down for other players? I remember dolmen farming and nobody's beam was as big as mine
Add a Scribing skill that works like Arcanist beam.
    ---
Veteran players have been alienated and disengaged from Overland since One Tamriel, due to the lack of difficulty, and pushed into dungeons and trials; the minority of content in the Elder Scrolls Online. We can't take the repetition anymore, fix Overland engagement for Vet players. I don't even care if it's not combat related anymore, just make Overland engaging again.

This post is about the VISUAL of fatecarver and I agree, its atrocious. The people on here saying "fatecarver is fine leave it alone" are clearly referring to the skill itself and not the visualization.

I like the beam and often do not see what others describe here. It sucks that you are being affected by this giant animation but I’ve never run into it. Is this a first person thing vs a third person thing? I could see it being an issue if you are in first person but I am usually in third. I also have friendly effects turned off.

Also, Arcanist CC gets a bad rep. It’s not even the real issue. ZOS could nerf it, heck they could remove it and it still wouldn’t fix the real problem which is CC break not responding when it’s supposed to due to lag or skill delay or just being buggy.

“Isn't it already toned down for other players? I remember dolmen farming and nobody's beam was as big as mine”

I’ve done dolmens with players who have the big fatcarver but today I did a Sunspire trial with many nice and pretty thin green lines, no supersized white/yellow beams, except my own.

The main issue is that fatecarver is the main spammable of arcanists. Spamming this flashy splashy skill that looks like it was designed for Xbox One, can cause headaches or cognitive fatigue but not saying that everybody experiences this. It also depends on your screen.

No - I'm not bothered by the visual. It's fine with me. The original crux setup was fine with me as well. I'm also not bothered about the "flashbang" mount stuff - don't want them myself but others having them isn't a problem for me.
