Do Nords facial features need rework?

Why are nords so boxy and ugly in this game? For male nords we can reduce the jawline ugliness with beard but female ones look the ugliest with boxy jawline.

Do you guys think the nord facial features is in dire need for rework? They look extremely ugly imo

They aren't going to do it because people are attached to their characters and people like the way they look. But honestly, all of the ESO characters could benefit from an upgrade in the character designer imo. They are the best looking of the Elder Scrolls games but the ES games have never had the most attractive characters. Then again, it's also part of the charm of the ES universe. I wouldn't want them to look they should be in a shampoo commercial either.

I'm always for more options. But a complete rework that also alters existing player characters? Not a good idea.

I actually think you can make very good looking characters of any race (yes, even the races I don't play any more - the characters I had as orc, argonian, nord, and dunmer were all pretty darn good looking to me).

Having been the "recipient" of drastic changes to the way my characters looked in WoW (a major cause of my decision to cancel 7 subs and quit the game entirely - no, I've never been back since 2013), I would not appreciate it happening in ESO.

Changing how existing characters look gets the most emphatic possible no from me.

An update that adds new options to character creation would be welcome.

Considering the amount of sliders for your nose, ears, cheekbones, chin, etc., I’d say that if your character came out looking a certain way, it’s for a reason unrelated to ZoS.

Besides, as was mentioned, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. People have different faces and different looks. And not everyone sets out to make a toon that would win a beauty pageant. Hell, half the toons in the game wear helmets and hoods.

All Nords in ESO have a bit of a potato head thing going on, no matter how much you fidget with sliders. You can hide it to some degree with hair, beards etc, but it's there. I think all of the human races could use a rework, maybe as a 2nd head morph option in the creator so as not to mess up people's characters. Elves would be fine with just a retexture, maybe a few more polygons to keep the general aesthetic.

I wouldn't want what exists to be changed, but adding extra sliders would be very welcome. I think Nord jaws, and all male human jaws, are too wide even on narrowest setting. Some extra sliders could help this. Also human Breton and Nord female upper lips are flat and only have the illusion of being 3D which looks horrible on their profile view. The side view profile also shows that the eyes sit flat on the face plane and don't wrap slightly to the side on the model curve which looks wrong. It's the reason my Breton and Nord females can't wear their hair pulled back in any kind of ponytail, braid, or up-do. Hair has to cover the sides of their faces to hide this.

A black eye, a broken nose and cauliflower ears would be favourite. Make it at least look like they do some brawling at the inn.

The face is all smushed up in one tiny part of the head and the head has too much dead space on the front. If the facial features were spread out a wee bit more or the head wasn't so wide, sure.

They all look too similar as if they are all from the same parents. More range is needed for the sliders. Dunmer and orc also seem to look too much like each other. MOAR range for sliders!

As for the topic, I knew these comparisons I did ages ago would come in handy again. Face comparisons between bretons, imperials, and nords. The faces goes in the order average-full soft- full heroic, and full angular.

If anything female bretons are the worst. They are so round and wide, looking too similar and wonky. I still wouldn't want them changed, because it would ruin the character someone has worked on. More options are good, though.

No, they most certainly do not need a "rework" to fit your standards. Especially since many people love the nords the way they are. If you're good with the character creator you can sculpt a masterpiece that highlights their racial features instead of fighting against them.

I, for one, find that "boxy" jawline on the female nords quite gorgeous. It lends their features an air of strength befitting the harsh climate of the lands they hail from.

Nord females are one of the few races in game that absolutely excel at providing the player an opportunity to create a lady with a more muscular figure. We have quite a few stunning examples of this right here in the thread.

As for the men? They don't need a rework either. I've seen some very talented people create some very handsome nord men, and I wouldn't want to see them get ruined. A strong jaw line with a good looking beard really compliments their faces well.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Again, this is a case where if you're good with the character creator, you can make something quite stunning. I think male elves in ESO have an eldritch beauty that makes them appropriately otherworldly.

I'll take a fierce, sharp-featured, falcon-eyed high elf any day over another Legolas clone. (Coming from someone who quite likes Legolas, at that.)

Honestly, I find that there's something to love about all the races of Tamriel. A character doesn't necessarily have to appeal to you in a romantic way to find them interesting.

Now I'm going to go hop on the test server and design a female nord for myself. This thread has been quite inspiring, and I've been putting off making one of my OC's for far too long.

I think that options could be expanded for all races so that existing characters would look exactly as they are, but more options would exist for new characters or if someone wanted to change how their character looks.

All the races need a polygon rework, they are looking dated compared to the higher texture/poly count of the new chapters/DLC/furniture assets over the past 5 years.

Hmm now you got me thinking . Considering I use windsong Character over haul mod for Skyrim always in my playthroughs, I forgot how bad character faces are in Skyrim maybe limitation to technology as it was released 12-13 years ago.

i guess must try better in face sliders
