Storage Advice Needed

So currently I have furnishings all over the place. I have:
3 free Notable houses (2 of these at capacity)
6 Classic homes (2 of these 100 to capacity)
19 Staple homes (1/2 of these at capacity)
and furnishing random in most of them. Whenever I want to focus on a home, I have to spend a day unloading the bank or space on a toon just to consolidate and see what i have.

Is there some secret to having all your furnishings in one place so you know everything you have and be visible when you want to decorate a home?

you would figure with as big as housing is in this game, there would be something like the bottomless Mat Bag to hold all your furnishings. There has to be tens of thousands of furnishings and with so many Bound, they should be helping create space for it all

Any advice is appreciated.

ideally i wish we did have a "furnishing bag" to hold furnishings

the closest thing we got to right now is if your on PC you can use the inventory insight addon to track all of the items placed in your houses as well as on your characters and various storage containers/bank

if you use the addon, and have a house registered (by going into the housing editor inside of the house), you can then pull up the addon, filter to furnishings, and then when you hover over the tooltip of the item it will show all of the locations + quantity of said items

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

yeah there isnt going to be an easy way to track it on console, unless you store specific items in specific houses to try to keep it organized

theres around 5700ish craftable furnishings and some number of uncraftable furnishings, and each of those items can only go up to 200 items in a single stack in your bank

in terms of item density the bank stacking multiple furnishings takes up less "space" than putting them in the houses, unless they are all individually different items

so if you had 20 chairs, that would take up 20 slots of a house, but 1 slot in a bank/storage container

If you have extra character slots, creating new characters is also great for storage... of course this becomes a problem if you eventually want to actually play with the character. But if you have slots you aren't even using, you could just throw a character together and store things in their inventory.

Their inventory can only be accessed while you're logged into that particular character - but what I do sometimes is I designate a character to "store" furnishings for a house I plan to work on - then when I'm ready to work on that house, I can log into that character and they already have all the furnishings I was planning to place in that house. (And this way you can free up your bank for other things).

I don’t know if this would help, but you can use the Retrieve tab to see what is in your house by category and distance from your character.

I buy houses that I use specifically for furnishing storage (such as Coldharbour Surreal Estate) and then group furnishings together by category. If I want trees, I go to a specific house, if I want antiquities I go to another, etc.

I may do this - Designate one do be the furnisher - just tough because my crafter is my main and can craft a ton of stuff.

I do use this - very useful but they need to make this work for multiple homes no matter where you are.

It appears zenimax is not interested in investing resources for a crafting bag/furniture collections tab, so we are going to have to keep spamming currently unused furniture into junkyard homes. I often feel like housing customers are left on the back burner.

We are told furniture item slots can not be raised due to performance, yet snugpod has 200 items with ESO+ vs Anchor Berth with 30 (ESO+). Similar size homes. If performance in Snugpod is not an issue with 200, than neither would Anchor Berth.

A furniture "bag" could be made the same way the armor collections tab is made.

Don't forget the eight storage chests you can buy and put in your houses, 4 x 60 slots and 4 x 30 slots, that's an extra 360 spaces for stacks of the same item.

Purchase with Writ Voucher's(100 for 30, 200 for 60), Tel Var(100k for 30, 200k for 60) and also with Crowns, they are giftable too.

These can be placed in every house and have the same contents everywhere, worth noting smaller homes cannot take all eight chests though.

Edit:- I forgot to mention one of the 30 slot ones is given as a lvl up reward.

Well that’s your choice I guess. My career was in software programming and I know from experience that some things are more difficult to do than it might seem. I also believe that if they could do something like a furnishings bag, they could sell it for crowns directly and make money or charge more for eso+ per month for it and make even more money for that too. The fact that they don’t tells me it’s difficult to do.

I am just saying that they are not consistant. What we are told (regarding furniture items as in my example) and what they do in game are two different things. I have the proof above.

And I agree that they could create someting and sell it, but that would depend on how large the housing market is and based on the slow traffic of these forums, I would venture to guess housing is not as popular as us housing folks think it is.

The design of this game forces players to horde stuff, its why the armor collections tab was made, it just does not make any sense that housing enthusiasts should not get something similar.

No, it doesn't. I keep all my furniture in my bank because then it's accessible no matter which house I'm in, so no running from house to house looking for things. And my bank is not even halfway full, because I don't keep accumulating furnishings I don't need.

I keep potions and gear etc. in the chests in my house and those aren't full either.

The sticker book for gear was for a very good reason because if a player destroys a piece of gear they can't just head into a dungeon and be certain to get the piece they wanted to replace it, unlike furnishings that can just be created or purchased whenever they are needed.

Yes it does. The entirety of the game revolves around collection and with items that are not always easy to obtain. Furniture is one of these due to the cost or materials or means in which it was obtained.

The weekend furnishing vendor is an excellent example of this. The game should be designed where all of that stuff is readily accessible, but its not and waiting to purchase from a guild trader can cost 2 to 10x as much so its not a viable option. Housing is not something one can really plan due to limited timed releases on homes. In order to decorate a given style of a given home one intends to purchase later on in the year, or the next year necessitates collecting weekend furniture.

Secondly. Crown store furniture. A lot of my furniture comes from the crown store, these are not items I can easily repleace without spending a small fortune of real life money, which is not an option.

As far as personal bank storage, I have a ton of jewelry and gold items. Things that are not so easily gotten rid of, some of which I do not have the entire sets for and due to transmute cost, slowness of obtaining transmutes, destroying these items is not an option, especially the golded items and purple/gold jewelry.

The sticker book for gear was for a very good reason because if a player destroys a piece of gear they can't just head into a dungeon and be certain to get the piece they wanted to replace it, unlike furnishings that can just be created or purchased whenever they are needed.
And crown store/crown crate furniture is not easily replaced, in fact its more difficult and costly to replace those items than any piece of gear in game becasue of limited availability.

And as I previously stated, the issue of furniture collection is only going to get worse as more homes are released and as more furniture is released, on top of the fact that style materials are getting more difficult to get every chapter so even creating them if a furnishing collections tab existed would be more difficult than armor. It would behoove ZOS to create a furniture collections tab so that once a piece of furniture has been obtained, it can be easily created in game with materials that are already stored in the materials tab.

This will actually save server resources as hundreds of thousands of unused furniture would not be stored in game.

One can not craft crown store exclusive items.
One can not craft weekend furniture vendor items.
One can not obtain crown crate furniture once its sold for gems.
The amount of heartwood/mundane rune/style material needed to craft things in the future is insane and literally not even farmable in the quantities needed, so anything made with this stuff is not going to get sold, it just makes no sense.
All of these need to be stored.

And as I have said before, as time goes on this issue is going to get worse and worse. It would behoove zos to find a solution before the problem gets out of hand.

did you read what i wrote? i said i would not keep any UNBOUND furnishings.
Crown store exlusive furnishings are bound.
Furnishings from crown crates are bound.

You can ALWAYS buy furnishings from luxury vendor. Why would i buy furnishings from Zanil and store them for years in my houses before i use them, when i can buy them for 2-3k more on guild traders the whole year. In many cases even cheaper.
And you can also craft/buy any furnishings from guild traders. If you dont have enough mats to craft a furnishing, you go and buy some mats or just buy the furnishing.

There really is no need to keep any furnishing items you can get at any given time.

You can ALWAYS buy furnishings from luxury vendor. Why would i buy furnishings from Zanil and store them for years in my houses before i use them, when i can buy them for 2-3k more on guild traders the whole year. In many cases even cheaper.
    There a myriad of reasons.
    • Items are not always available (especially the expensive ones), I have tried to get luxury furnishings that were sold in the past and not a single one for sale.
    • I have rarely, if ever spent less than what the item went for at the luxury vendor. In many cases they are more expensive, I expressed this in my previous post and yes I use addons and TTC to find the lowest price.
    • Part of housing in ESO is cobbling. In order to cobble you have to have the item on hand, but the thing is you might need to try 10 items before you find the one that works. Its akin to ""creative mode" in building games, but that does not exist here so we need to procure the furniture before we can get to work

....which segues into why we need a furnishing collections tab in order to keep from hording stuff.
And you can also craft/buy any furnishings from guild traders. If you dont have enough mats to craft a furnishing, you go and buy some mats or just buy the furnishing.
Not when I might need 200 mundane runes, 80 Stendar Marks, a stack or two of heartwood which can get into the millions really fast. It's unnecessary.
There really is no need to keep any furnishing items you can get at any given time.

I am sorry, but I feel there are as do many of the communty who partake in housing as their primary gameplay in ESO.

yes i am aware there are plentys of furnishing items in the game, i sold almost everythin out of my chests which is craftable or from luxury vendor and i still have all 8 chets full of furnishing items. But i would not waste any slots for items i can buy whenever i need them. Found a handful or 2 luxury items items which are sold way below what ive paid for them so yeah.

And since there is the new option which lets you display a big part of the items from crown store you can do it like that. And if you need other pieces you just buy/craft them and resell them if you cant use them.

You should know housing is expensive so yeah it goes into millions if you need to buy crafting mats. But if youve sold all your furnishings before you have those millions so thats not a problem. As furnishings mostly even sale more expensive than what the craft costs are.

    Hi
Storage is fun .. anyway, if you are on PC theres an addon called "Essential Housing Tools", and there is an Addon to this called "DecoTrack".

DecoTrack keeps an searchable record of all your furnishings and its location with a provision to port to that house so you can collect it for use.

Using this I can use all my houses as storage chests.

    Have Fun

The weekend vendor items are not included in the crown store, in fact much of the furniture is not located in the crown store, so there is no way to preview it.
Secondly, the ability to see the item in game is very handy, mostly for the scale of the object but the camera does not allow for fine tune options. Also, cobbling requires multiple items be layerd, you can not layer preview from the crown furniture tab.
You should know housing is expensive so yeah it goes into millions if you need to buy crafting mats. But if youve sold all your furnishings before you have those millions so thats not a problem. As furnishings mostly even sale more expensive than what the craft costs are.

The housing community is one of the smallest in ESO, most of my furniture does not sell...never has. I occasionally get a hit, but only when its listing price is around the price of the material cost. There is definitely no way I would make enough money back to purchase the raw materials.

Stendarr Stamp, Ivory Brigade Clasp, culanda lacquer on top of others are extremely expensive and many furnitre items take 2 or more making each piece starting around 30k.

    i agree with everything.
just keep selling stuff and youll be able to buy most items you need without storing them for years cluttering your houses.

But i gotta be honest, i havent built something for 1,5years and am now just about to end my current project. Have way too less slots ofc, had to remove details already in order to finish and i wouldve so many more ideas :(
So i gathered enough style mats and that was not a problem. Only had to buy some stacks of heartwood and some Culanda lacquer for my 200 Alinor Bookcases i needed... Bought over half of them from other ppl too, that almost ruined me.

Like I said, my issue is not things I make, but bound items. Crown furnishings, many of which come from properties when I buy them and keeping items that are not easy to get.

I store very little crafted items.

The sticker book doesn't save the actual gear. When we bind a piece to us it basically makes a pattern of it we can use transmutes to recreate when we need a piece. This is not the same thing as a bag to hold actual furnishing pieces.

There are a lot of ways to get furnishings besides crafting them, such as the crown store and merchants and the lux vendor and antiquities, but we do not need to obtain and store every one of these.

But that is not what I suggested, I suggested a collections tab for furniture that works like it does for armor. So in this way, its the same thing.

People collect furniture over time and collecting furniture will only get worse as time goes on. This is already an issuye for many people and its better to find a solution to the problem now, than wait.

The sticker book only creates patterns for the gear, and does not store the actual gear pieces.

This boils down to the fact that we do not need to keep every furnishing we find, and we do not need to stock up on every item the lux vendor sells or buy every crown store furnishing.

Yes, and a furnishing collections tab would store the pattern learned/furniture piece learned, not the actual pieces.

The furniture itself would be created through the required materials from the materials tab, just like we do now.

"This boils down to the fact that we do not need to keep every furnishing we find, and we do not need to stock up on every item the lux vendor sells or buy every crown store furnishing."

Please do not dicate to me how I should play the game. The reason I hold onto the furnishings I do is much more nuanced than I have time to get into on the forums. \

i completelly agree with Silver, you seem to just hoard furnishing items for no specific reason
