Personally love the torchlight pic.
All the single player ES games had torches. I always collected hundred's and used them rather than the various spells/staffs, and I felt like that was one of the reasons for releasing the Treasure Hunter personality in ESO. I like the personality the way it is, but I'd be OK with a torch that had a larger lighting area. Not sure I'd want it to be as bright as Almalexia's Lantern, but maybe somewhere in the middle. Might work as a longer duration memento as long as you can still walk and cancel/draw your weapon/interact. Pretty sure all the long duration mementos still allow normal game play even while using them.

You know, I never actually thought about it. But we do technically have Mage Light as a skill from the Mages Guild skill line. I wonder how well it works as an actual light source though....
Of course, it uses up a slot. That's a bit of a downside.
....You know, I actually HAVE it on my front bar as a spell crit booster. I'm not sure why I never thought to try and use it as a light LOL.
Yes, found this nice doing that thief guild maze, guess it would work for the cloud walking to but not tested it.AcadianPaladin wrote: »Sometimes I throw out an on the ground spell to light up an area. Templar shards works quite well. Wall of lightning (destro) works fairly well. You might experiment with other spell effects. Not ideal but I've found them to help.
Elden Ring has one too, a belt-mounted lantern, very useful, because it doesn't replace whatever weapons you're using.Silentverge wrote: »Skyrim has torches, Fallout has the pipboy light. even Morrowind had torches and lanterns iirc
just saying.
It's a feature that is missing from the game imo.

all the addon does is change the ingame brightness slider depending on the time of day. Even without the addon it can still look exactly the same depending on where you put the slider at.

Agreed. What would be perfect would be a memento that is just a small lantern that attaches to your belt and is toggleable. That way you could fight with it on, turn it on and off at will and the light radius could be about half or so of Almalexia's lantern.

I'm not trying to sell anyone on this i swear lol but this is what a little bit of brightness tweaking and some HDR can produce in this game. It goes a long way imo.
Edit: This is how it looks every in game night and in dark places like caves. So a light source is very much needed.
I don't think HDR comes through screenshots (not sure how that all works) but you get the idea.

I don't know why its duration was nerfed, but it would be interesting to know when they did that-- in particular, was it before or after the Greymoor chapter's release and the introduction of Antiquities? The cooldown for the Antiquarian Eye is shared with the cooldown for Almalexia's Magic Lantern, so if you accidentally activate Almalexia's Magic Lantern when you had meant to activate the Antiquarian Eye then you must wait for Almalexia's Magic Lantern to go out before you can use the Antiquarian Eye, so I'm wondering if they shortened the duration to help decrease the length of time you need to wait? It would be better still to let each of those tools have their own durations and cooldowns, but as long as they share their cooldown then nerfing the duration of the original cooldown by about 33% is a somewhat reasonable alternative-- far from perfect, but at least it was shortened by only a third.
