I have no real problem with the downtime, but are we not going to get any official information about what is happening until after the servers come back up?

So we were supposed to get 5 days of early access, since I work graveyards this downtime literally ran through an entire day off of mine that I had set aside for the game. What kind of reimbursement for this are we going to get, I mean after all we did pay a lot of money for the game.
  • killerbeex
well 5 days alpha omega beta time.. then regular april 4..

  • horizon011b14_ESO
yes this is a little sad... people paid for early access technically and it been in down time over n over... compensation would go along way to those people who got shafted

How much did people pay for early access over the cost of the game after launch?

You didn't pay for early access. Both the standard and the imperial edition included three(physical) to five(digital) days of early access. Both editions will cost the same on the official release date as they do now. The game time you paid for(30 days) doesn't start until the game is officially released.

To clarify, the $59.99 for the standard game was for the following:
    1) A limited license to play the game. You "own" it now.
    2) 30 days of game time.

The extra amount paid for the Imperial edition(both physical and digital) was only for extra bonuses - The imperial race, horse, a pet mudcrab and/or some bonus physical items.

I agree, i got kicked for maintenance last night, tried logging in this morning, and maintenance again. Given the quest breaking bugs i have experienced i can see why maintenance is called for but there has to be a better way to handle this then excessive server maintenance.

You didn't pay for early access, you paid for the game plus additional content such as Imperial class and Explorer pack. The early access wasn't part of the cost, it was a 'gift'. That's like buying a meal from McDonalds and getting upset that the burger gave you diarrhea. Sometimes you have to take the bad with the good.

I for sure am asking to be compensated for this. And NOT just by a day. Unless they want to push back official launch a day to make up for people missing out on a day of early access ... like that would happen.

Do not see them getting around adding an extra 30 days to EVERYONE that was effected as it only seems fair and not much else they can do that will satisfy people at this point.

LOL how in the world is you getting an extra 30 days fair compared to not even 12 hours of down time? No one paid any extra money for Preordering the game but you still got the extra bonuses so stop complaining like you did pay for this and part of paying for a game is paying for it's problems to be fixed so stop QQing

This is extremely short sighted. There was a direct business benefit to them as a business for people pre-ordering. This allowed them to do planning and bean counting they would not normally have been able to.

The early access is 'payment' for putting up our cash and allowing them to reinvest and plan for those revenue before they ever see them and that is HUGE for a business.

95% of the people that pay for Early access on games is because they like the vision it offers and want the game to work and that means paying for a game that is bugged so you can help fund it so it is properly fixed, Hell a more recent game is DayZ lots of people paid for it but you don't hear them QQ about bugs and down time

Just wanted to say, DayZ at the getgo says "this is in the ALPHA BETA STAGES AND THE GAME IS UNFINISHED AND BUGGED"
When I bought Elder Scrolls I bought a game that was supposed to be FINISHED

At first I thought maybe this was the influx of ES fans who are not used to MMOs at launch. However, I'm not sure there has ever been a ES game that was not shipped with countless game breaking bugs. So I am not quite sure where the animosity towards this release is coming from.

That's completely and utterly bullcrap, rwood. Here's why. I guarantee you most gamers purchased this at early access under the impression that the game didn't need an extra 5 days til release date to be completed. They felt the game was so completed that gamers could get access early before the release date! The game had its time for testing not to mention if the game wasn't complete take away the early access to the game and people would understand because the game is incomplete. What actually happened, is they gave us this "early access" and a few random in game items, but they literally conned us into purchasing the game before the release date. The reason why most MMOs are like this at the get go is because they are hard pressed to release the games on time and by giving us stuff like "Early access" we are literally paying them to beta test their games instead of them finishing and polishing the games before release.

Also maintenance is supposed be just that, maintenance. This "maintenance" has lasted an entire day which leads me to believe it's pretty game breaking.

WOW has been doing weekly maintenance for years and years, and every week there are a couple of threads from people demanding to be reimbursed for the downtime. Emergency maintenance only exasperates the idiocy.

As I said already man 99% of MMO's even on release date and don't offer prepurchase rewards are still incomplete and unfinished upon release, bugs will always happen and maintenance will always be needed, to push back release for these reasons most games would never have happened

I have played LITERALLY EVERY MMO since Ultima Online, and there has not been a single one I can remember that didn't have bugs, and therefore, quite a bit of downtime for the first few weeks/months. Also let me reiterate what some others have pointed out. NOONE paid ANYTHING EXTRA for early access. IT WAS FREE. So I personally do not understand all the crying. You all sound like six year olds that just got their favorite toy taken away. Show a little patience and let the devs do their job. In the end you'll get a better product and you'll be happier for it.

Dude.. I get so sick of whiners on mmos.. would you rather they not do maintence and leave the bugs in place to make you whine about that? Or would you rather they take it down and fix the issues so you can play smoothly? I want to play to but quit whining, you sound like a 10 year old throwing a hissy fit.

It's really not maintenance again, but it's the same maint. (servers have not come back up) Most of the game breaking bugs (from reading the patch notes) are being fixed in this patch, but of course new ones will arise, it's the nature of the beast.
  • tyvar.thorvaldsonb14_ESO

Only been down for about 9 hours or so, it's really not that big of a deal. I would rather them keep it down and fix the few problems that exist instead of bring it up and have to bring it back down a few hours later because they missed something.

If you get early access, and expect it to be perfect with no maintenance, you are officially a moron.

Be patient! All of this whining is part of the reason why terrorists exist. B)
