DPS is too stressful and not fun

One thing my very small guild agrees on is our inability to understand those that sweat over meta or think parsing is it's own mini game.

we wear whatever we complete the content...it's not Rocket surgery.

Until you go for vRG HM, for example. Meta will be important there.

Initially I agreed, but when I think about it's less about the specific content and about progression.

If you are in a prog group, regardless of the content, if your group is unable to do the content and next week / run you're trying again then meta is important. if every dps can improve their dps by 2% by switching gear then everything is easier. the faster the boss or the adds go down, the less chance for a critical mistake, the more likely the clear.

All the way from nAA to vRG-HM group dps matters and if you're choosing to do less dps because for some reason pillar of nirn offends you I don't know what to say.

I'm not saying everyone needs to be a velothi arcanist, just that everyone should bring their best setup for the job at hand. running a meme build for laughs imo is disrespectful or even insulting the rest of the group

So we're stuck in the "freedom to play your role" versus "respect your team" conundrum.
It becomes a debate about whether the individual comes first or the team matters.
This may not be purely right or wrong.
But I think if you want to participate in a HM trial today, having qualified DPS/correct equipment is necessary. The other 11 people on the team have no obligation to get into trouble for your freedom.

What if the character you want to play doesn't provide enough DPS? Give up participating in the HM trial or
Complain to ZOS, because the balance of equipment/Classes is determined by ZOS.

So what content are we talking about - Dungeons? Trials? Normal or veteran? If you want to participate in vet trials or even hardmodes you absolutely need to play what's useful, there's no space for your 9k Overland DPS. And don't even try on complaining about difficulty and asking for nerfs if you want everything washed down to casual standards, people like their challenges.

[snip] My point is most, if not all, DPS options should perform good enough with high enough yields for all content without trying to have a heart attack doing it. The current stat is not fun. [snip]

That is impossible to achieve without making the game either broken or boring.

Honestly id say if you commit to the team then the team will come first since it was ultimately your choice to do so. You are also making a commitment to the trial/prog lead. For supports the sets are typically hard and fast. requirements for dps its content based. Some of my mates run staffs or bows in vcr3 for which dw is considered optimal. For a guild run you will normally be ranked by showing a parse and for some sending a pov. Usually hm runs are in organized runs for anything beyond hof hm or mol hm. At that point its very much about giving everyone the best chance of success. For vrg hm for example a min dps is a reasonable requirement because of the significant dps check at the end. I dont think its unreasonable to be a bit flexible in that situation. In reg vet trials you have more flexibility which is completely fine but few of those require a prog for anyone but folks new to trials and leads do not expect meta gear for that obviously.

Boring is a matter of personal opinion. It could be boring to you, but not to thousands of others.

Their point was you can make builds that are fairly easy to play and hit decent numbers. No one is trying to impress you.

Speaking of stress, before I hit the road, I wanted to just say that Arcanist CC and Farecarver are massively over-powered.

Many arcanists are also extremely hard to kill, kind of like how Warden's were when they first got released.

Miserable gameplay just stuck in midair getting wrecked.

Play Arcanist, less stressful headache of a rotation and get decent results. I love the class for that exact reason. Less button smashing, the better it is for stress management. Other classes, DoTs falling off declines your DPS rather significantly but Arc, you kind of have a grace period of sort. Makes for happy sweaty teammates and you, I say win-win for both.

There are already enough ways to do competitive damage in the game without using LA. The only thing I want is the hidden ulty generation buff will triggered when I deal damage in any way, not just with LA/HA.
