Thwarting the Daedra: Dagon’s Cult can be found in IC on PCNA now for those still looking to read it. It’s in one of the bookcases directly below the AD spawn point in the Temple District.

The bookshelves in IC pull from a pool and what you get is mostly random, unfortunately. The eidetic memory bit of lorebook addons likely uses specific names as placholders.

There are maps online if you dig hard enough with circuits you can run to grab each book from each district, but the reset time for the shelves is long as hell, at least several hours.

I was wondering recently if all players see the same book or different books when we look at shelves the same time so a friend and I tested it by going to bookshelves in various zones. Each time we saw the same book. Last night I tried going to those temple bookshelves but Thwarting the Daedra wasn’t there for me either in both CP and no-CP IC. I was just wondering if maybe I was too late and the selection had changed.

To test it, tonight I will go there again and write down the names of the books on the five shelves, and post them here. If someone would like to go and see if they are the same books they see or different books it will help us know for sure. And if they are the same, I’m just wondering how often they change and if it’s a set day or random.

Ok, just for the sake of curiosity, here is what I am seeing in the Imperial City Temple District as of 1:55pm CST on 3/27/24:

CP Imperial City, the five bookcases under the Temple District AD spawn point:
    The Origins of Conjuration
    Khajiiti Arms and Armor
    Ashlander Wise Woman
    The Lion Guard Wants You!
    Wind and Sand

CP Imperial City, Temple Rectory, eight bookcases:
    Changed Ones
    On Apocrypha
    Nchunak's Fire and Faith
    The Waters of Oblivion
    First Scroll of Baan Dar
    The Song of Despair
The Horror of Castle Xyr, Part 3
    Knowing Satakal

NO CP Imperial City, the five bookcases under the Temple District AD spawn point:
    Response to Citizen Inquiries
    Ghosts of the Old Tower
    Ahzidal's Descent
    Immortal Blood, Part 2
    The Dark Husband

NO CP Imperial City, Temple Rectory, eight bookcases:
    Urenenya's Lament
    Mine Safety Regulations
    Glories and Laments
2920: The Last Year of the First Era
Correct Ways of Slaying Ra-Netu: 12
    On the Interrogation of Witches
    Septima Tharn's Leadership Maxims
    A Guide to Fishing Tamriel

After I read your post, I went back and the first five books in CP Imperial City under the Temple District AD spawn point had changed to the ones you listed for me too (I didn't have Unhallowed Legions either!)

BUT…ONE book changed in the Temple Rectory… the shelf that had First Scroll of Baan Dar changed to Confessions of a Skooma Eater! And none of the shelves had changed in NO CP IC 🤪

For anyone who doesn't know, this is one of the pain-in-the-arse books that randomly appears in Imperial City bookcases on an annoyingly long cooldown and populates in Scrivener's Hall's chest drop table which is more frugal than IA with its book drops. I'd recommend grabbing this one while you can.

Note to self: Make a proper map and shelf location guide in the OP. donezo

Soooo. Slight problem. This week's new book, Materials for Novice Necromancers... I've never encountered it in the few Archive runs I've managed. If anyone has it, I'll happily take a peek then run off and buy it, otherwise gotta sit this week out.
Guess what I just found lmao.

It's on display now in the IA section, might get its own altar at some point, it's a very nice looking book. This is also the last eidetic memory entry I needed besides Fynboar (2nd quest is a pain) so I can buy each book as they drop from now on.

Materials for Novice Necromancers does look nice. I wish they'd go back and update some of the older book textures. Those orange Trial of Eyevea books from the mystic look especially bad.

I agree. I’ve been picking up furnishings in the housing editor now that they’re 20% off and those purple quality rows of books have such horrible resolution and are blurry. I got a few of the blue quality ones because they looked better, but they have all the books exactly the same height and it looks too artificial.

I know we have the Apocrypha plans but I can’t bring myself to use all the Glass Eyes of Mora I have to make a few groupings of books.

I find they look alright mixed with other books and items. The craftable Apocrypha stacks that you refer to are great additions, but don’t work as rows on a bookshelf.

What bothers me more is the resolution of certain books like The Coldharbour Compact and Daedra Worship: The Ayleids — especially since they only come with A WHOLE PACK of crown furnishings, they should be unique well-rendered books for display! I do love the new books though — the forged black book and the Telvanni mushroom book (WHY did it have to be locked behind treasure chest RNG??? I neeeeed more copies! :heartbreak: )

I have Fynboar in my (very work in progress) library house. Feel free to drop in (it's my Linchal and all the IA and treasure map books I have are laid out on the floor in the centre of the main room. It's not set as my primary but it is open to visitors via eht housing hub).

There are 5 new book furnishings (that I'm aware of) in Gold Road. 4 of them are purchased from an achievement furnisher, probably scribing-related:
    • Fable of the Dragon
    • Fable of the Gryphon
    • Fable of the Indrik
    • Fable of the Netch

And one is from the upcoming Diamond Anniversary Crates:
    • Five Companions Tome

...needless to say it might be some time before I get my hands on these, ha. Been busy enough with Infinite Archive as it is.

    Two fairly annoying books on the store this week;

Fynboar the Resurrected normally can't be read without doing a tedious RNG fetch quest in IA.

Thwarting the Daedra: Dagon's Cult is looted from scriv but read in Imperial City bookshelves which are randomly populated.

Hew's bane map topic might be less relevant now after that event, but they do drop know from normal sources too. I just got one from regular treasure chest in Wrothgar, and earlier this patch from Azandar's portfolio.
