[PC/NA] Public Library - Tharnes And Noble

Made a public library on PC/NA containing over 400 readable volumes and counting. Due to each book taking a traditional slot, furnishings will be slim, but I have tried to mix form and function. The rare books room (beneath Mora's statue) will occasionally be updated with new finds. Enjoy your stay.

So why EVERY book in one build? That's a bit limiting, right? The purpose of this project is in part, obviously, to have every book accessible for reading.

More importantly, for anyone looking to collect specific books or start their own home libraries, most books ingame will not populate in their loot sources/tables unless you have already read them, either in the overworld or someone's house, to populate that character's Eidetic Memory. Being able to read any book at will knocks out the first tedious step of collecting a given book!

The Infinite Archive has a merchant in the lobby, Filer Ool, who sells 2 books every week for Fortunes; the pool changes every Tuesday morning. I will attempt to update the thread as it changes, occasionally bumping the thread if there are particularly ornate or rare books on the store.

Please note that the library is not my primary house; adding me as a friend will therefore not bypass the requirement to use the link. Also I'll probably ignore the request if I don't recognize you. 😅

    New Additions!
    • Havocrel: Strangers from Oblivion - Scrivener's Hall
    • Letter From Zerith-Var - Companions

On sale this week (19NOV-26NOV) at Filer Ool, Infinite Archive Lobby:
    • Havocrel: Strangers from Oblivion - Scrivener's Hall
    • The Spotted Towers - Infinite Archive

18SEP2024 - There are, as far as I am aware, only 15 books left in the entire game that I am able to obtain through normal means, plus one that'd have to be at the mercy of ZoS (not happening). Just as well I'm having to delete lights and seating at this point, ha. Thanks to everyone who made this little project possible~ Sechesin

Reading Shalidors Library books (lore books) will not count towards your Mage's Guild skill line; they're just here for quick reference.

However all other books count as Eidetic Memory entries for the purpose of populating loot tables in treasure map chests, infinite archive etc.

Thank you for the share. This is a pretty cool library. The screenshots do not do the library justice. Very nice in game and a ton of books to boot!!!

Nice. Although I probably would put a drop trap somewhere. I went there and read some books.

Is it worth mentioning that, for lazy cats, this is an EHT open house, Kelesan'Ruhn, and that EHT users can just put @Sechesin in the housing hub search window and go there? Or search under libraries?

Regardless, for some reason it appealed to me.

    I'm not sure what a drop-trap is :V
Also yeah it's an EHT house but I didn't know if plugging addons was appropriate here. I don't really know much about how EHT works at that.

Ooh, this is cool, I’ll have to visit!

This is such a cool idea! I love it. I don't know if it'll help, but someone on reddit claimed to have pulled a Hew's Bane treasure map out of one of Azandar's research portfolios.

The treasure chests pull their loot table from your eidetic memory; if you haven't read the book, they won't show up in the chests. Partially what the library is for heh.

PS: However, if you happen to have a Hew's Bane treasure map, A: How? They stopped dropping years ago

They actually still do drop, I got one a couple of months ago. It came from Cyrodiil Gladiator daily coffer.
Needless to say, chances are slim. It is the only one I got out of ~1k coffers.
They do pop up on traders from time to time, camp TTC and you might get one.

Thanks to M1shaan for donating a luxury vendor readable! Hadn't even thought to check there; somethin else to look out for.

Apparently there used to be another velothi table readable on the crown housing vendor but it was removed in 2018 for some reason and never re-added.

Also yoinked a couple more infinite archive books from the shop and will grab the New Life book off the crown store sometime soon.

The treasure chest books. Are these from any chests in the zone or are they treasure map only?

Also, thank you for the list. I have been working on a library myself and I didn't know about the treasure chest books.
    Much Appreciated!

In my experience? Treasure map only. I farmed summerset overworld chests on circuit for 2 straight hours to see if it'd work and got not a single book. Treasure map chests however seem to have about a 1-in-3 chance of spawning a book with a preference for books you've not yet looted on that character, though your mileage may vary.

Books are only lootable from chests if they're registered in your Eidetic Memory, meaning you have interacted with them as an overworld obiect, a bookshelf spawn, or as a furnishing in someone's house. If you haven't read them on your current character, they just don't show up in the loot window at all.

    PS:
This is strictly a non-profit venture; I'm kind of beyond the point of being able to throw gold at the game to get more books anyway. However, if you happen to have a Hew's Bane treasure map, A: How? They stopped dropping years ago, and B: they're the last treasure map books I'm missing from the series if you're willing to part with em.

Scrivener's Hall, Bastion Nymic and Archive runs would also help; I kind of struggle with Archive in particular and have less than 10% of the books there.

Lastly, reading Shalidors Library books (lore books) will not count towards your Mage's Guild skill line; they're just here for quick reference.
However all other books count as Eidetic Memory entries for the purpose of populating loot tables in treasure map chests, infinite archive etc.

I would be happy to help with any of these, although there are much more skilled players who could take you through the content faster, I enjoy Scrivener’s Hall, Bastion Nymic, and the Archive and would be happy to help you continue to expand your project, if I can. :) If you would like, send me a message here or in game (same name) and we’ll see if we can find a time we are both available.

Are you on PC NA? It's platform-specific. Also make sure you copy the string in the second post (highlight, ctrl+c), paste it in ingame chat (say-chat so you don't spam a guild). If the link parses in brackets, you did it right.

Given the maps have about a 1/3 drop chance for books and the drops aren't 100% curated, you'd be spending around 180mil-360mil (with decent luck) at those prices. ...and 10 mil is the most I have ever owned.

Would definitely recommend saving archive points and waiting for the maps to hit filer ool's store if you're after these, at least until ZoS acknowledges there's a problem with the loot tables.

I just wanted to share this checklist someone made of all these Scrivener's Hall/treasure map/Archive books that only drop if you've read them first:
For what is worth, I have made a Necrom / Scribes / Secrets Book Checklist - See google sheets link below

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1IiMk3MKzyxADQhSg12pxAinOZ3fbmsgBr4f0krof8nY/edit?usp=sharing

Love the library by the way, and I've been using it* to workaround the fact that my PvE characters aren't questers and haven't read every book! Much appreciated. I hope in the future that this isn't necessary to get these drops on each character.

One can hope; still moving ahead with my plan of 'beg everyone I know for Archive runs in case the maps land on Filer Ool's desk.'
Thank you so much for regularly updating your collection! I’d still be spending all my in-game time clicking on bookshelves trying to find “Waters of Oblivion” still otherwise!
Ya. Probably going to add a section in the OP for 'newest additions' and their sections. Making a point to try and buy each book off of the Filer, though there's about three I don't have access to via Eidetic yet (Fynboar is going to especially be hard because Archive runs are required to find its missing pages).

...also I fixed two mistakes. Can't believe I counted Trials of Eyevea twice and forgot the Coldharbour treasure map journals. They're both 4 books each so the exact number stayed the same but yeesh.
