Endless Archive - a mob fell though the floor. Stuck in "combat" then lost all progress on that run

I can't target the mob (a spriggan) that fell into an out of bounds area under a slatted Murkmire style platform. It can attack and hit me with spells, so I'm locked in combat and I can't recall or quit the game or otherwise leave the situation while preserving my progress. I had to exit to Xbox home screen and reboot then wait several minutes until the server timed out and released my account again.
When I was finally able to log in, the toon was outside the Archive, in Windhelm where I had originally traveled from. When I re entered the Archive it had reset and I had lost all progress on my run.
This is a major bug and insanely frustrating. WTF.

Ok so there is a work around although this does need to be fixed. Use the "get me unstuck" feature under the help tab. It will transport you back to the central arhive room and you can just run back through the portal without losing progress. I figured this out with a friend while doing a run one day.

I attempted this and could not use it. All my attempts at leaving or resetting got the message "you can't <do the thing> while in combat" I couldn't quit, recall, use the get unstuck, nothing worked short of going to Xbox home menu and rebooting to force the server to log my account out so I could get back in. Before rebooting the Xbox, I tried re-logging in and just kept getting vague error about the account not available. It required a reboot.

The spriggan was able to target and damage me with spells, but I could not target it. AOE's didn't work, neither did my DK fire breath (which doesn't require a target). I tried everything I could think of for quite a while before finally abandoning the run.

I was doing well too, no deaths on my run. So annoying.

Edited to add: according to this post and links in it, they blocked leaving an instance while in combat with U40. This affects trials and dungeons too.

It sounds like bugged, out of bounds enemies are common in EA, so please give us a way to deal with it!

I had that happen to me too and sent in a bug report. The only reason it didn’t end my run is because I found that if stood in the right place, the buried enemy could slowly kill me. Alas, I could not finish them with any amount of aoe — I tried— so it was the best option left to me.
