Sadly with how people have been reacting lately, they would state the same even if it was down 30 minutes. For some it helps them feel better to complain. I find complaining does very little in the world. And they should just find something to occupy their time. The server hasn't been down for 24 hours yet so your math is faulty.
@Valison so break out the oars and row yourselves to a better timezone.
It's unfortunate that you guys got screwed because of timing but since MMOs are world-wide games there are no times that are not peak times, I assure you, there will be an instance of everyone getting boned at one point or another in this games life-cycle.

I don't understand all the complaints. I understand the frustration, and if you have read the dev team updates, you'd know they are working on bringing everything online.
So far, this has been a very smooth launch for me. No queues and no sitting at my computer waiting to get a chance to login while other players are playing.
This is an online product that requires a lot of interconnected systems. These systems aren't fail proof and do fail.
I know the maintenance downtime sucks, but be fortunate for what has been an exceptionally smooth launch (no launch is perfect).

That being said, I do not think that the server being down for maintenance during the daytime during the launch week is a bad thing. All of those problems that everyone was experiencing will hopefully be fixed and we will all come back to a better product than before.

That what beta is for. They had enough OPEN beta to work out these kinks. The people who preordered it for "early access" are getting to test out more bugs so the people who didn't reserve it get a working copy? Seems flawed.
Also, remember.... The server has now been down for 7 hours, so our last night playing got cut short as well.
