Inventory full? No rare item for you.

There is a HUGE problem with things like fishing or even trying to talk to remains silent to get a rare item in which if your inventory is full and you didn't realize it would be, you're screwed out of the item.

Imagine trying to fish for an hour, you need that blue rare, you get it but your inventory is full. Can you do anything about it? NOPE

Been talking to remains silent hoping to get that rare item? Inventory full? OH WELL!

Please find a way to fix this.

yeah at least if you open a chest and your bags are full you can close the chest and then clean enough spots out to then open the chest and loot the remainder

if the loot source is a "container" like item such as fishing, or items are granted directly (like with remains-silent) then you are kind of SoL if you need to delete something

maybe at least on a loot source like a chest or fishing you could have a button on the loot popup to be like "show inventory" so you can keep the loot window open while managing your inventory, that would be a better way to get around this for most cases

im not sure how you would get around a case like remains silent where the items are directly given

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

    check your inventory more often.

it is frustrating when my inventory is full during fishing and i only notice when i get the last fish i need.

though at least with fishing it won't potentially take weeks to get the trophy fish again like with Remains-Silent's furnishings.

I believe an easy fix would be to do exactly as the antiquities system does; you cannot use this unless you have 5 open slots in your inventory.

It wouldn't have to be 5, even 2 would be a good warning to have as a just in case. It's VERY easy in this game to lose track of your bag space because there is no indicator in the hud. Yes I am aware addons fix this, sometimes I play without addons.

Never had that problem, the fix is taking 5 seconds to check your inventory from time to time, if its, getting close to full, either use an assistant to sell or bank excess stuff, or if you don't have any of the assistants, sell to a travelling merchant or visit a town to sell or bank stuff, if your in an instanced location and don't want to or can't leave yet destroy some stuff to make room.

Zos could do something special and add a bag icon where all the other warning icons are and this icon will show when you only have like 5 or 10 slots left in your bag.

I'd suggest it would be like degraded armour or depleted weapons; you don't actually get warned, you get TOLD once they are degraded/depleted, which is too late.

Some warning when your weapons are low charge or armour is close to being worn out would be nice, but we have to take some responsibility for ourselves.

That’s an interesting thought though, maybe they could put a little red icon for the pack merchant sack at the bottom of the screen when your inventory is full, just like the red helmet for broken armor and the red weapon icon for running out of charges.

At least for fishing this issue is nonexistent. If you can't loot a trophy fish due to full inventory, simply destroy any crap you don't need. Then fish again and you'll catch exactly the same trophy fish. It's an implemented mechanic.

I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. It's not that hard.

This very scenario happened to me, no I did not catch the trophy fish again right away, in fact it took another 20 minutes of fishing to get the rare. It is not a good system.

    Well, that's odd.

Did you fish again right away or leave the spot for clearing your inventory?

I had to clear inventory space (summoning an assistant, or destroying the other trophy fish etc) and then fishing again. No one else was around the fishing hole it was just me, and it wasn't a long period, 30 seconds at best.

I've tested this so I can confirm it. You can fish again if your inventory is full and pick up the thing you just tried to loot. Unless you leave or change zones, it will always be the next thing fished up until you actually loot it. So no worries on missing out on a rare fish because of full bags. ^^

Is not fishing is essentially opening containers so if you can not loot it, you will be able to after you reel in again. Provided that fishing hole is not dried by others.

Just like you can't decon an item at a crafting station or complete a quest with an item reward, Remains-Silent's dialogue options should be grayed out and you shouldn't be able to cast a line if your inventory is full.

Akatosh forbid you keep an eye on your own inventory space, or manage it I guess?

Server doesn't need more needless calculations like checking if your inventory has room IMO.

I think it would be a handy qol feature if one could go to settings->interface and toggle 'show inventory' with configurable colours and numbers for 'green', 'amber' and 'red' status - just a simple current_inventory_used : maximum_inventory_spaces number, coloured(customisable) so a quick glance could broadly inform of current inventory state.

Doubtless there is an add-on but that's pc only and only if using add-ons.

It takes 2 seconds or less.

Players should get into the habit of clearing out their bags before going fishing or entering a dungeon or any activity that generates loot.

    Keep some open bag space.....

This takes care of it. Check for bag space before trying to accept the items. It is quick and easy to do. I have never missed out on a reward due to such an issue.
