Motif cooldown doesn't seem to be actually once per day

vrumpet
vrumpet
A while ago I was sure I received two Anequina Motifs from daily coffers while I was spam opening to clear space. By the time I checked my bag the 'New' icons had cleared and I already had multiple motifs from other days, so I couldn't be sure.

A couple of ago I had a few Galen daily coffers built up and again, being low on space, I opened them all. My first one gave me Mornard daggers and my third gave me Mornard chests.
Screenshot as proof: You can see in the chatbox the first motif drop, logged by a cooldown tracker addon.

So either the cooldown is a myth or there is a cooldown but it just takes your chances of another down very, very low.

    Mornard motif has no cooldown.
Idk why, but this one doesn't.

cooldowns for motifs are something players believe exists.
we don't have actual confirmation from zos that it exists.

Even if they finally came out and said motifs have no cooldown, the belief is so entrenched in the public's reality that it'd take years to die out, if it ever did at all. We still have people believing Vorenor has to be tanked on top of the ramp to do hard mode, sneaking makes leaving combat faster, and you have to do hard mode every time for the increased chance for a helmet style page when it's the arms pack for the month.

I don't remember anyone saying that the Anequina motifs had cooldowns.

There are certain newer zone motifs (I think since Western Skyrim or Southern Elsweyr) that have been tested as much as we can. As in, the first day when the motif drops, people do the content in droves and check whether any single person they can find has gotten more than 1 per reset/per 20 hours. This becomes clearer when people obsessively spam the dailies the next few days. Some don't appear to be on a cooldown, some do. Some seem to have a cooldown and a loooow chance for a second after you get one.

Personally, I find these results accurate enough to not spend my free time grinding content I don't like to grind. But it's much harder to find the info once the content is older. It's your own time to waste—or not : p

I can assure you that account wide motif cooldowns do indeed exist. Having killed Havocrel Duke of Storms a thousand times plus and never receiving more than one motif per day, it is a non-debatable fact. However, could there be other instances where there is no cooldown? Certainly.

To make things more frustrating it looks like some sources like boxes has cool-down but getting it from bosses and similar does not. Its also extremely likely this calculated on opening, not on drop. Content is leveled to your level then opening as an example and the other way would be much more complex.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Any motifs from Northern Elsweyr and before release wise don't have the same cooldowns as motif drops from later releases. Dungeon motifs also do not have a cooldown as seen with more recent overland releases.

Most overland motifs from the Sourhern Elsweyr release and onward drop once per day, per account iirc. The chance to gain another resets when the daily reset happens (ie. 6 am EST PCNA).

Hope this clears things up. ^^

House Mornard is High Isle though iirc.

    Edit actually it's Galen

There is an absolute inconsistency to drop rates for the various motif chapters. Firesong drops like candy whereas other pages are either one per day, or just have a really low drop rate. Kindred's Concord seems to have one of the lower drop rates as I've completed 12+ Bastian Nymic runs since Wednesday and still haven't seen my first chapter.
    Crown Crafting Motif: Kindred's Concord

High Priest Blightcrown writes of those using this style, “Many of you are entrusted with duties that require you to move without notice among the scoffers and persecutors of our world.” Use to learn the Kindred's Concord crafting style. Also has a chance to drop from daily coffers and bosses from Bastion Nymic.

The Crown Crafting Motif: Kindred's Concord will be available in the Crown Store on all platforms starting October 18, 2023, at 10AM EDT. The Kindred's Concord chapters, and very rarely the complete book, have a chance to drop from Bastion Nymic and Bastion Nymic Coffers, awarded from Ordinator Tandasea in Necrom.

Has anyone actually gotten a motif chapter as a loot drop from killing bosses in Bastian Nymic. Ignoring the secret bosses, I've still killed at least 24 bosses and opened 12 coffers and still have not seen a motif chapter drop.

I have only run BN once since the motif was added and I didn't get a drop from bosses. But I saved up coffers during the necrom event and was very lucky. I got a motif every day Wednesday, Thursday and today, on my first coffer. Shoulders, swords and daggers respectively.

Smart. The description clearly says it drops from quest reward boxes. But says nothing about bosses or boss chests dropping them in BNs.

Mixed reports on actual experiences for that.

This excerpt is taken directly from the Crown Store Preview. So either it's yet another bit of misinformation, or as posited, the drop rate is really low.

Fascinating... The actual problem is mobs keep chasing after they left their leash range and don't properly reset. If you get them just far enough out of their leash range then let them attack you or you attack them, they will reset immediately after. If you keep running they will keep chasing far longer. I can understand that belief, not everyone is observant of the AI's behavior patterns.

And today someone in my group got a drop from a boss chest. So it’s real.

I too had bad rng experience on day one, took me about 10 coffers. On subsequent three days it was 1-4. Seems very in line with other recent daily motifs.

Bastian Nymic isn't worth running even at 4 times per motif drop, so I'll just wait it out and buy the pages on traders.

Then farming or doing quests I found laying down AoE tend to hostiles to recalculate and return.
Lay down wall of element, endless hail or other large area DoT regular and at lest 25 meter before you stop.
This oven help even if chaser don't reach you like can not reach you as enemies don't jump.
You also get the annoying enemies running up to you do one shot and run back.

In groups its more more complicated, as if one in area is in combat all are so if some run or worse ride by an wolf you all are in combat until that wolf is out of combat, yes its other factors to .

Definitely not worth it now. I did my coffers during event, double daily coffers (to open now), guaranteed event coffer and chance to get some more event coffers during nymic itself. Even now I'm questioning if it was worth the effort :)
