A game that gives too much to magic...

TESO is, on the whole, a great game with a great evolution and lots of new features that always refresh the game with a little something. It's really cool to have an MMORPG like that, but there's one thing I deplore about the game, and that's the spells,
far too much thinking about magic (magic damage)...

I find that the game makes the creation of build much too dirigiste for stam and too limited in certain spells, certain class of the branches are hardly used because there is that full magic in choice and certain fate does not find really to use for certain build, there is also the werewolf which can only benefit from this "curse once transformed, it could deserve some passive when not transformed, because if one looks at vampire this last one can constantly use certain fate.

So, I really hope that this will be much more balanced for the next classes to come, because at the moment, I'm building an Arcanist in a stam direction and in terms of choice, it's very disappointing. What's more, if there was a future project to rebalance the existing classes, that wouldn't go amiss either, some of them would need to be reviewed for that too. I hope that this will be better studied in the future.

The Elder Scrolls has always emphasized the High in "High Fantasy" you can't pick up a rock without finding a level 50 Wizard and even the pig farmer knows a few spells.

It's kinda like a PC version of The Forgotten Realms...I don't see that changing.

I quite like that the hybrid changes have blurred the lines between mag and stam builds. My elf considers herself a mage; sometimes she uses a staff and sometimes she uses a bow. Regardless, her skill selections reflect a mixture of mag and stam skills. What I'd like to see is movement even further toward blurring the distinctions. I'd be happy with magicka dictating the power of all skills and stamina being the resource pool you draw from to cast any skill. After all, every skill in the game is magical in nature, ranging from a S&B taunt to an archer calling down a rain of arrows from above or conjuring a magical crossbow that can hit several foes at once.

This is one of the most frustrating things about this game. And an easy fix would be to have morphs for each ability one for stamina and one for magic. But ZOS refuses to even do this. They think making a couple of skills be stamina is enough and to heck with what the player base wants. It's almost like they are laughing at the player base being frustrated.

Counting only weapon and class trees, each character will have 5 magic trees and 4 stamina trees available to them. And since some of the class skills have stamina morphs, that probably brings the balance closer to 50/50.

I was here at launch and everyone knew the guy carrying a stick and wearing a skirt was king and that hasn’t changed.

Stamina is already way ahead of magicka in most things. Especially since if the class has less than desired offensive choices stamina players have duel wield, 2h, bow and even 1h/s to fill up their bar… and magicka just has destro staff.

You give stamina more morphs in the class skill lines and it’ll just leave magicka in the dust.

If you play an Elder Scrolls game your character will eventually be a master of something with a bunch of supporting (usually magic) skills that offer synergy. If not that, then they will just be very good at everything.

In that way I think ESO has nailed the Elder Scrolls vibe, and the hybrid meta has really brought it out.

I have to agree with this. Originally I had my doubts about how Hybrid might work out but by and large its been a great thing. Well said.

I am hoping that the next game in the series will be a more advanced tech era. Namely, gunpowder, possibly steampunk. If this happens then we could see some of the changes here too. We could get an expansion that takes us into the future to let us experience some of that story/timeline and we may be able to bring some of that tech back with us.

I mean, some of the recent expansions have already hinted at time travel related to the Dwemer, so who knows this could be a possible future of where the franchise is going.

Summary, a Gunpowder/Steampunk era could lessen the reliance on Magic in the game and bring in something else, or bring Stamina up a bit so they could be more level.
