Ability to ignore someone on forums if their profile is private?

Is this possible? I see no way to do so directly from their posts; it seems to only exist as an option on the profile if it is accessible.

The ignore function is already awful (ignored posters' threads still show up in the list of threads with no flag) but it seems that one can completely get around being ignored with a private profile?

(I am using the non-mobile site.)

If you go to your Ignore list, just below the line of text that tells you how full your list is, there is a place where you can manually input a name to ignore.
