Overland “combat” is depressingly boring

It ain’t even combat. I was standing with my level 7 toon just LA’ing and standing still in the middle of the attacks of the last boss of the quest you need to finish to get Mirri as a companion in Blackwood, and the boss did almost no damage to me. I did just a few LA’s while standing in front of the boss’ attacks, but my health was only reduced 5-20%. Mirri and Bastian killed the boss without me doing anything. I had level 1 light armor, no CP activated.

I have not played ESO the last 8 months, so was happy to play with the new Arcanist class for the first time this evening, but got bored after 20 minutes.

In 2014/15, I played ESO almost 40-50 hours a week. In 2023, I got bored today after 20 minutes of “combat” and quit the game.

Also disappointing to see how empty the game has become. Do the devs care about ESO anymore?

The game is far from empty, although populations may vary to a degree between platforms. Your forum history suggests you're on PC and the population there will be affected by the impending update currently being on PTS. It also looks like you're a PvPer first and foremost, so it's not surprising that your boredom threshold is low for low-level PvE questing..

Overland definitely needs an overhaul. Denser enemy numbers in a lot of areas and enemies scaled to your level. Right now enemies all for except the world bosses are balanced for like like lvl 3 new players.

Devs need to look at Diablo IV and Elden Ring and shoot for a middle ground difficulty.

It's unfortunate but true that the quests to get access to the companion to help trivialize solo content further tend to be trivial, but just remember that in skyrim you get access to powerful followers by either beating them in a fist fight or paying them. Some are easy, some are hard, all can do all the fighting in the game for you.
