New Endless Archive currency exchangeable for Tel Var, AP, and writs

EA is a step in the right direction, thanks. To make it even more attractive to players, it would be great if you could make the new EA currency exchangeable to other currencies (AP, Tel Var, writs - iirc we can already trade the new currency for gold). By opening access to so many other rewards already available in-game (furnishing, PvP sets and so on), this would incentivise so many more players to participate in EA runs.
Of course the exchange rates would need to be sensible for this to work - e.g. hardly anyone will be interested in getting 5000 gold for an hour or two of EA.

Ideally, it should work both ways - e.g. PvP players who really really hate PvE (though I think most may actually like EA if they try it) should also be able to exchange their Tel Var and AP for the new currency so that they can continue doing what they love and still get rewards normally unavailable through the PvP route, too.

The feature is extremely simple to implement (via the new EA merchant) and could easily be added before update 40 is deployed to live.

Hope this helps, thanks

The above idea comes from the following thread we keep, where everyone is encouraged to share their ideas of new features and improvements:

Well, it would still be earned where it's "supposed" to be earned but those who wish that, would be able to exchange it for other currencies, which would benefit the game and everyone really (for the reasons given in the original post). In other words, it would be just like when we earn $$$ working in the US but we can then exchange those to let's say euros, without the need for us to go to Europe and earn them there, that would be crazy

ESO does not need another in game currency. If anything ESO needs fewer "currencies".

Games create new currencies to gate rewards, so nobody can jump in on launch day and exchange their accumulated wealth for all the new stuff. It also incentivizes players to at least try out new content and giving it a chance, before making up their mind that they don't like it. By making currencies completely interchangeable, the developers would basically give people an easy way to bypass/ignore everything they've worked on, which would lead to players getting bored again more quickly, so I don't think this is ever going to happen.

The real-world equivalent isn't about being paid in USD vs. EUR or GBP. It's more like getting a raise, just not in the form of a higher salary but a company car, extra paid holiday allowances, parental leave, or other perks, which are not directly exchangeable.

While this would be silly, there are already Grand Overlords who only attained that rank by riding a resource merry-go-round a few years back.

I agree. It encourages certain activities. If we could simply convert everything to what we want then we are encouraging do whatever you want at the cost of some activities seeing less activity.

While I cannot speak to what EA is actually doing as they don’t have a good MMO out ATM, I don’t see the suggestion being good for ESO.

I think no game developer should treat their customers like children who have to be forced to do all the chores that the developer decides must be done. Most of us are adults busy with our work, family and life commitments, and we pay for our games in order to have fun and do what we like, not to be forced (because of FOMO) to do chores we don’t find appealing. I am old enough and experienced enough games to know that, in the long term, this never ends well for the game.

If you pay for ESO because you like to engage in PvE combat, you should be able to do just that, without the game trying to make you feel bad that you are missing out on those writ voucher or PvP rewards. The same goes for if you only like PvP or any other facet of the game.

You should be able to "play the way you want" without the game using FOMO to manipulate you into wasting that little time your busy life allows you to spare on chores and activities that some may like but to you they may be just tedium pure and simple. This never bodes well for a game and its player count.

Instead of gatekeeping and using FOMO to discipline kids, it’s much better to treat players like adults and let them choose how and with which content they want to interact. It’s also good for getting real feedback as it provides sort of natural selection - if no one wants to do some chore when the FOMO is out of the picture then it means that chore should be redesigned to make it more interesting to the customer (or perhaps even removed from the game in its entirety) - which makes it easier for the game to evolve and thrive. If enough people are still interested in participating in a given activity despite not being forced to do it (because they can access same rewards via different routes), then nothing has to change and everyone is happy.

    Just my two cents

Thx. Missed that as I do not know much about this new endless dungeon.
