This is the official feedback thread for Housing, including the new homes (Gladesong Arboretum and Tower of Unutterable Truths) and furnishings. Specific feedback that the team is looking for includes the following:
  • What did you think of the new homes currently on the PTS for testing?
  • Did you try out any of the new furnishings? Did any stand out to you?
  • Do you have any other general feedback?

Where do we see the new furnishings in PTS?

Archive has a "rotating" vendor. Other furnishings require antiquities.

Is there a way to see the full list of new furnishings?

First Impressions: The Gladesong Arboretum is gorgeous - it's a druid village and I love it!

Did you try out any of the new furnishings? Did any stand out to you?

Love the new druid furnishings - the clay dishes and pots, I've wanted those for a long time. And the drying racks!! I really like that fish rack as well. I'm sure I'll have more to say once I calm down and check out some more items.

Do you have any other general feedback?

The housing developers always outdo themselves and this time is no exception. Color me impressed :)

I feel like I can basically give the same copy-pasted feedback on new player houses each cycle:
    • The houses themselves are very cool.
    • The furnishing limit relative to the sizes of the houses is wayyyyyyyyyyy too small.
    • The prices will almost certainly continue to be exorbitant (~11-14k+ crown range), especially with respect to the cost compared to how many usable slots that gets you.

Just as an example - Lucky Cat Landing is a medium house that costs 4400 crowns and has 400 item slots - that's 11 crowns per item slot. Fogbreak Lighthouse was another recently tested house that ended up selling for 11000 crowns unfurnished with 700 slots - 15.71 crowns per item slot. In other words, these massive crown store exclusive homes give you around 50% less bang for your buck in terms of cost to item slot ratios, but are typically around 3x as expensive (or more) as a crown store exclusive medium house. At a minimum I feel like the massive homes should at least have 1000 item slots to make the ratio a bit more reasonable and in line with the smaller crown store exclusives.

And yeah, I think we've been told directly or indirectly that housing limits can't be increased... which is fine, I guess. But then can we at least get more medium homes or large homes that aren't quite so hilariously massive..? It doesn't feel great that new house releases largely cater towards whales or folks with loads of disposable income - especially now that there's no workaround with crown store gifting being turned off. I *want* to be super excited to buy these homes and decorate them - Druid and Apocrypha environments are probably my favorite in the game. But I can't justify spending ~$100 on something that I can't even decorate properly.

Tried out the Master crafting stations. Successfully fed my Twice-Born Star stations into each of the Woodworking, Blacksmithing, Clothier and Jewelry versions, and crafted an item in each.

For some reason I was expecting Craglorn’s sets to be under DLC. 🤔

Are you kidding me with Gladesong Arboretum? I'm over here trying to live in other games, now, and you drop this on me. :D With all these Druid clay dishware and Necrom planters.
    Crown SUPER SALE, soon, yes?
    :/

Also. Give us some furnishing QOL please? I just want to go into the house I am decorating and have access to ALL my furnishings, wherever they are. Make it easy and relaxing for us. Having to consult spreadsheets to find items and then figure out which of the 14 houses everything goes back to, isn't fun at all.

The "Forged Black Book" furnishing is actually an Arcanist Tome. They have already been established as separate things, but both are similar in that they are both books that draw their power from apocrypha. Unless this represents some kind of Progenitor tome that all Arcanist tomes come from.

An important selling point for the houses is their location and usefulness as wayshrines. Both these houses seem to be stuck out in the middle of no where any one would want to go. I’m not paying your exorbitant prices for houses I will never see again no matter how spectacular the views.

What did you think of the new homes currently on the PTS for testing?

Gladesong Arboretum is just not for me but I'm sure some people will be happy with it. I think there was more demand for a smaller druid home though.

Tower of Unutterable Truths looks like something I would be interested in so may end up picking it up. The clutter of book stacks and scattered pages in the upper rooms aren't the best though as they constrict the space and really limit what you can do with those rooms (e.g. can't hang stuff on the walls and feels awkward to put furnishings like wardrobes up against the book stacks). I would have liked to have seen that type of clutter handled mostly with furnishings so they can be cleaned up to make better use of the space.

Did you try out any of the new furnishings? Did any stand out to you?

When the Necrom DLC was announced I was hoping that there would be a black book furnishing so I was a little disappointed when that didn't end up being the case. We did get the Mushroom Classification Book though, which was fantastic and a huge step up from other previous book furnishings (unique book cover art and can be interacted with to flip open with unique pages relevant to the book, rather than generic handwritten scrawl).

Update 40 is now giving us the Forged Black Book and Infinite Tome furnishings, both of which are fantastic and live up to the high standards set by the Mushroom Classification Book (unique covers, interactable, unique pages). Getting these antiquities will be my first priority when Update 40 goes live and I hope we see this trend of high quality, unique book furnishings continue in future updates. The ability to flip open the book essentially gives the same furnishing two different looks, which is great for helping clutter up a library without having things look too same same. Both the Forged Black Book and the Mushroom Classification Book have two different "open" looks, where the pages are swapped to the other side. It seems like a bit of a missed opportunity to give us a proper third look for the furnishing by having a completely different set of pages (allowing us to get more use out of the same furnishing to clutter a small space) but that's a bit nit picky.

(idk why I'm so passionate about book furnishings but just wanted to make it clear that they're great and I hope there'll be more to come in the future)

The Watchful Light is another great antiquity furnishing from this update. Didn't even cross my mind that this will be something I want but now that I've seen it it's definitely another must have for me. When deactivated the eye is quiet and looks side to side and when activated a beam of light shines down from the eye (moving with its gaze) and some sound effects start playing. Unfortunately, the sound effects are quite loud and distracting and I would have liked to have seen a third state where the beam of light is present but there are no sounds.

Do you have any other general feedback?

It was a nice surprise to see new antiquity furnishings added to previous zones. Nothing really stood out to me there though and a few of them didn't seem like they really belonged as antiquity furnishings (the generic wells for instance).

It was good to see some additional Necrom furnishings added in - the planters especially are great. There has been a bit of an oversight for both Necrom and High Isle where there is no desk furnishing available for the new furnishing styles, despite those desks appearing in the overworld. A desk seems like a pretty essential furnishing to be included with each new set of furnishings so I'm surprised they've been excluded and hope this doesn't continue.

    Both houses are lovely.
I'm awed and excited by the choice of furniture coming out this update. Can't wait as I have a couple of Apocrypha type homes I'm already working on and will be doing a Necrom one later at some point.
The druidy furniture will definitely be useful later, especially pots and decanters etc.

    My first Impression:

    Gladesong Arboretum
Finding the Entry, Prety easy to find though ended up in the nearby crafting area by accident.
On first impression, the house is super busy with plant life that looks just slightly unnatural. That's a lot of blue trees and bushes.
After a bit of exploration, It feels right for a Druidic-themed home though still very busy with things that are taking up a limited number of furnishing slots. The house feels too big to properly decorate even with the full 700 slots available to ESO+ subscribers and many of the rooms are spread out making it inconvenient for creating a "Usable" environment.
Furnishings, looking at the furnishings that come with, the tone and texture feels right. however, the lack of a "kitchen" area leaves me cold, raw food doesn't appeal to me much and I somehow doubt the druids of Galen are Vegans.

    Tower of Unutterable Truths
Finding the entry, Ended up riding my horse all the way around the zone looking for the entry and finally gave up and went through the Crown Store. Though, once you know where to look it is easily found.
On first impression, It's a camel-humped monstrosity of a house! there is no way I could actually fill this place with only 700 furnishing Slots. Massive exterior area (the upstairs balcony definitely needs a railing -- OSHA would not be happy) Not a fan of tight spirals stairs/ramps but it's nice to see one, hope that's one of the furnishings available with this expansion. Oh Yeah, where are the books? I know Hermeus doesn't want us reading them but the shelves are a bit bare! I've seen horkers with more on them.
Furnishings, Well, there are a couple of things at least... maybe an extra thousand crowns worth but not really worth the cost of the crowns. And still, the great big Monster Book Shelves are empty... even furnished the house feels oversized and empty!

As a final thought, I would like to point out that when considering whether or not to purchase a house, especially a Crown Purchased House, 90% of my decision is based on my first impression. How the house looks from the entrance. While I liked the Druid home and I liked the idea of the Apacrypha home (It's just begging to be turned into a guildhall) I would not buy crowns to get either of them!

I used the Grand Master crafting stations and I really like them. The interfaces are really familiar to the Transmute Stations so it all made sense to me immediately. Things were easy to find and make. I don't know what doing a Master Crafting Writ with one would look like yet, but I'm looking forward to it. I think they're very attractive and I loved watching them spring to life for the first time.

What I didn't like about the Grand Master Crafting Stations (GMCSs) is that "feeding" an attuned station to the GMCS didn't "Collect" that fed set the way our Bound Set Collections (Overworld/Dungeon/etc) does. That means if I want to have the GMCSs in multiple homes and still power them up so they're fully equipped (and acquire their pretty appearances) I would have to resupply those stations entirely.

I think it would be great if when crafting stations were "fed" to their respective GMCS, those sets attuned would also be collected, meaning I could have my fully functional GMCSs in all the homes I wanted without having to fed each of my theoretical multiple blacksmithing, woodworking, etc stations each all available sets.

I don't know how your back end is setup regarding these, but maybe if when you feed a GMCS an attuned station, you "Collect" it, and any time you visit one of the GMCSs that belong to you, you update it with your "collected" stations that were previously consumed? Players would still have to invest the large writ purchase cost if they wanted multiple GMCS sets, but without the astronomical cost of having to feed each of those GMCS sets all available crafted sets.

If someone would say "I don't like the fully-upgraded look of a station/The fully upgraded look doesn't fit the aesthetic of this home" perhaps after unlocking the fully-upgraded appearance a player could choose the appearance for that specific station?

At the moment on PTS, when you delete a Grand Master Crafting Table you also lose all the attuned stations that were fed into it.

This could be a very frustrating mistake. I think the tables should be added to a user’s collections, that way you won’t lose all the attuned stations fed into it.

I wanted to also mention that the cost of these stations are also far too high. The costs shouldn't be what the Transmute Stations cost - which provide all types of items, not just Blacksmithing, or just Woodworking, etc. items. Unlike the Transmute Station, these stations are just regular crafting stations until you further invest in them.

I know these stations are lovely, and Rolis sells plenty of things that are fairly high cost that only provide aesthetic value, but these costs are just too high - especially for furnishings that can't be traded or gifted. This also comes with an update where the highest source of writ vouchers is being brought to levels consistent with other crafting trades, which puts writ vouchers at a greater premium when the Master Crafting Writ is the item you're after.

Not to go on too much of a tangent here, but more approachable jewelry crafting writs means fewer in Guild stores at higher prices for an item a character only has a slim chance at a day. I LOVE the changes to jewelry platings, but it does mean for some folks writ vouchers are actually going to be harder to get. When your chance at ~600 writ vouchers is dropped to ~90 - 120 a day, it means there are fewer writs vouchers earned in a period. I know a ton of gold jewelry writs get trashed or sold for scraps right now, but I don't think items should be priced around the assumption that someone could scour guild stores for Master Crafting Writs or existing pools of Writ Vouchers.

i am really looking forward to the Gladesong Arboretum house as i love the Systres and the druidic style.

the Tower of Unutterable Truths as well! i love the book architecture in Apocrypha and i am happy I'll be able to get a house with it. plus new book piles, bookcases, and interactable book furnishings fit right in that house.

i do hope the leads for the new antiquities aren't super hard to get, like treasure map chests

I really loved the giant orb furnishing that's animated from Endless Archives. It looks really cool! I really love giant animated furnishings like this.

Do you have any other general feedback?
It would be nice to buy some of these houses with gold in-game. Or perhaps upon release they're crown-locked, and a year later they're available with gold?

Also, for the furnishings that are craftable, I really wish there are easier ways to get mundanes, heartwood, and decorative wax. Perhaps getting them from surveys makes housing more accessible. I have many houses I want to furnish, and to fill 600-700 slots, and each taking many mundanes and heartwood (9x to 13x each), it's a lot of grind and effort. It makes housing less accessible to new players, and for veterans, it's a continuous grindy time sink. I've been taking a hiatus each time I finish a house because I need time to recover from the grind.

Please consider for future changes

Would love to see furnishing limits raised from 700 to at least 1000. It would solve so many design restrictions in current homes. I can't tell you how many times I had to abandon a certain look or wall off a section of the house to give the appearance of a fully fleshed out decorated space.

I'd also like to see more use of guest spaces in larger homes, since we have 2 new companions it would be great to have them around without interference of the other interactable house guests, more guests make the home feel alive and active. I'd also like to see things such as mundus stones be considered as "special furnishings or decorations" with those limits increased to accomidate them, so that such services don't cut into the overall decoration totals.

Grand Crafting Stations might be better as a tradable option, instead of requiring the "grand master crafter" title to purchase, it could instead require the title to bind. As a BoP item, forcing the guild master to come up with 6k vouchers could be quite an undertaking.

So, I've seen a large number of players who want to see the cost of set stations reduced through the Grandmaster Crafting Stations (hereafter GCS). I think that kind of request is ridiculous! Currently, if you want Set Stations in more than one of your houses, you have to buy an Attunable Station and attune it for each house. Asking the devs to change that just because we're getting a shiny new toy, the GCSs, is either naive or grossly greedy.

That said, 1500 Writ Vouchers is way way way out of line for what the GCS is, unless you are planning to reduce the cost of the Attunable Stations. Currently, there are 77 craftable sets in the game, that's 77,000 Writ Voucherss to purchase them all and now you want to add another 6,000 Writ Vouchers just for the sake of convenience in a group of stations that fit none of the in-game home Aesthetics! Shame on you ZOS, tell Microsoft to find someone else's pocket to pick!

As to the functionality, I would like to see, a) an option to feed all the Attunables with a single click, b) an option to just spend the vouchers to activate a set without having to go buy the Attunable and then visit the location of the set's crafting area, and most importantly, c) an option to sort the sets alphabetically so I can more easily see which sets I need. Also, an indication of which zone the set is in so I know where to go.

Other than that, different skins to fit the Aesthetic of the homes seriously wouldn't hurt!

I like that you can feed all the stations in either by selecting them individually or by choosing "select all". However, as pointed out before, it would be a nice safeguard if there was a collectible aspect to these now or in the future so that the player knows what stations they have yet to aquire. I've got all 77 sets, but I could understand the reasonable frustration of someone wanting to track the stations/sets they don't yet have.

It is great that clicking the category title expands it, however it would be equally great if a second click on the category title collapsed it. Thank you for putting them in alphabetical order at least inside the categories.

It is odd seeing the Craglorn sets in the Miscelaneous category, despite Craglorn being the first DLC.

The price is way too high. As others have pointed out, there is already a significant investment into the stations. These should cost no more than the attunable stations.

Others may have posted feedback in other posts, possibly while following bugs being reported by other players. I hope you consider that feedback and aren't pedantic about where the feedback is located.

      Grand Master Crafting Stations
They look nice, but paying 1500 vrits seems like an exorbitant price. Making them bound is a mistake, in my opinion. A guild hall is a place that, in many cases, is supported by donations from other players. Additionally, if they are bound, we can't sell them, making them less interesting and usable

    • Do you have any other general feedback?

I believe that many people have asked about this before, but it might be a good idea to bring it up again. Can we have access to luxury vendor furniture on the PTS server as well? It could be added as a new type of item or chest that appears in our inventory when we create a new character from a template (at maximum level with all items, gold, etc). This would be very useful. Pretty please :)

So this is where we're supposed to put feedback on Grand Master Crafting Stations? Ok.

Is it intentional that they're Bound on Pickup? I'm still hoping that's a mistake and will be fixed. Or if not, that it'll be changed. There's no reason for it.

Guild houses should be a feature that all members who benefit from it can contribute to, not solely the effort and expense of the guild leader, who already has a lot of personal time and expense put into creating and running a good guild.

I'm very glad they exist, and they're beautiful - even more so when completely filled. Also quite pleased with the UI, and how easy they are to fill.

Wish the blacksmithing station size was more in line with sizes of the other three.

It would be a convenient feature to be able to feed it from stations that are in the house, bank, and/or inventory - there are so many attunable stations currently, that it either takes effort to clear a lot of inventory space to remove the attunables to feed them, or many batches or pick up/feed, pick up/feed, pick up/feed... (On the PTS, I ended up just creating a new character for the purpose, with an empty inventory. Bought up bag space and mount capacity to max in the crown store. Used EHT to quickly pick up stations. It STILL took two batches.)

I was suprised to see a Galen home to be honest. I was hoping for something Telvanni themed. But it was still a lovely place.
The Apocrypha home was kind of cool, but I was missing something loocking like a bedroom.

The new master crafting stations look good and will save us a lot of space. However it is a shame that they are not a collection item you can place in every home. Especially considering the high price and the amount of work you have to put into them in order to unlock all the sets with them.

I was also kind of dissapointed that there are so few new Telvanni items.

Do you have any other general feedback?
If we are still getting Breton stuff from last chapter at the end of the year of the current chapter, I hope that we will not miss out on Telvanni stuff for it.

What did you think of the new homes currently on the PTS for testing?
For the most part I like them. The only issue is how segmented the houses are, how spread out. We'll end up with a smaller section decorated and probably ignore the rest. When a place is so spread out that's usually what happens since we'd only "use" one area. But, having said that, I do like them and will probably get them.

Did you try out any of the new furnishings? Did any stand out to you?
Yeah, they're nice. Anything that glows will stand out to me LOL, that's what I like best. But, having more general usage items would be nice, like napkins for the table. Basically, look around your own homes and add commonplace items you see. And stairs, proper in house stairs both straight and spiral. Also, so like when are we getting instruments for furnishings?

Do you have any other general feedback?

    Regarding the Apocrypha House
I love a tower of books, with the central spiral ramp, and the music is great. And though it’s a little thing, I also appreciate that the rocks below the walkway on the lowest level are actually accessible.

    Two major drawbacks:
    1) The second floor is so drab! Where are the brilliant green windows creating that dramatic contrast of light and shadow? If Apocrypha window lights were available as furnishings, perhaps this could be satisfactorily modified.
    2) Why are ALL the books part of the structure? Of course the filled bookshelves that make up the walls are, but why the stacks and the scattered papers? Thankfully, more book stacks are being added as furnishings, so I wish these had been used in the house so we could make it more or less cluttered as desired.

I also would have loved to see watchers moving by outside, even if only far in the distance. I really like the addition of the “ambient daedra” around the Deadlands plot as it makes the place feel more alive.
Did you try out any of the new furnishings? Did any stand out to you?
The new master crafting stations look good and will save us a lot of space. However it is a shame that they are not a collection item you can place in every home. Especially considering the high price and the amount of work you have to put into them in order to unlock all the sets with them.

I was also kind of dissapointed that there are so few new Telvanni items.

Do you have any other general feedback?
If we are still getting Breton stuff from last chapter at the end of the year of the current chapter, I hope that we will not miss out on Telvanni stuff for it.

I agree with all of this! I was hoping for more Apocrypha structural / architectural furnishings and definitely more Dunmer, including Telvanni, preferably to complement and expand the collections we got with Morrowind (I think we have enough beds and nightstands for instance). Excited for the new book furnishings!

I’m happy for those who wanted a Druidic hut but tired of more and more Breton stuff all year, personally. I have though been very happy to see more doors and ceilings / roofs although I had hoped for even more Dunmer structural furnishings, maybe even small buildings as now being introduced for the Druidic — maybe next year? 🥹

There are a few Furnishing Plans that are using incorrect amounts of the Rare material, specific to JEWELRY PLATINGS.
Both are formulas, not sketches, for one, but the Plating amount required is 10 instead of 1.

    1) The (Jewelry Sketch) plans have never required Grains, and therefore the amount of the rare should not have gone up with the conversion of Grains to Platings.

    2) NO plan has ever required multiple amounts of the gold rare for any profession. It has always been 1.

I will also post a /bug in game, but this needs to be fixed before Live.
Thank you so much in advance.
