Why Undaunted is the worst event

Pick up quest.
Oh wait, everyone's run ahead so I can't clear the beach.
Try to catch running through all the mobs left behind.
Die.
Miss the boss.
Abandon quest.
Run FG1 solo.

Queue for half an hour as DD.
Chase after the others skipping everything so you have half a chance of getting a hit on the boss.
Get stuck in combat outside a door because you've skipped everything.
Boss dies while you're still trying to get in and you don't get your tickets.
Run FG1 solo.

- or -

Queue as Healer, nice and quick, yay!
Get kicked for actually playing a Healer.
Switch characters and run FG1 solo.

- or -

Queue for half an hour as DD.
Get a really long DLC dungeon.
Other players don't know mechs so it takes even longer.
No time for anything else today but at least you don't have to solo FG1!

thats a bit different from my experience, i queue as a tank for specific DLC dungeons i need gear, instant queue, nobody complained (though one of the runs someone dropped from group and queue didnt refill the slot until almost half through the dungeon)

or i solo bloodroot forge lol (still working on gear from there)

I have done random normals almost every day of the event and generally didn't have any issues. That said, I have run every dungeon in the game so I know where all the bosses are and I know all of the mechanics (not that it matters in normal mode), and generally don't need to do the quests, but when I do a quick word in group chat will usually be enough to let people know to pause for a second while I do quest stuff.

On the bright side only some of the base game dungeons are the only ones where you mess the quest up if you don't stop and talk to someone at certain checkpoints. I know there are jerks out there, but if someone posted in chat that they are doing the quest then I for one would pause at the appropriate locations for them to talk, or at least wait at the next boss after clearing trash.

In general, waiting for all 4 people to get to a boss is proper dungeon etiquette, but this is an event and there are those that are in a hurry, so you have to roll with the team sometimes and skip the quest.

My advice would be to get a friend and one of you roll a healer companion and the other roll a tank and just duo the dungeons. You should have enough DPS between 2 players to kill anything on normal mode and the tank companion does a pretty good job of keeping the main boss still. Then you can do all the quests and RP'ing you want and have fun instead of the mad dash to the last boss for a coffer.

I was aiming for light-hearted but I guess I missed! Truth is it could"ve been any number of reasons, it was a lower level character too, or maybe they didn't like my outfit! It was a lot of pink to be fair

Seriously tho, it's only the second time I've ever been kicked from a pug and the other was on a baby healer too (lvl 49 that time, I levelled up to CP as they kicked me!) so odds on it was a factor. I play almost entirely off-peak and it can be catty sometimes.

yup. first 3 dungeons i ran the other day had someone blast ahead to the end boss, leaving everyone else slowed from snares and trying to catch up.

Look at 3 pledges I picked up yesterday.
Notice that Wayrest 2 cannot be soloed and I already have all gear in stickerbook, drop quest.
Solo Frostvault and Arx. Get Frostvault stickerbook drops.
Move on with day.

Pick up today's Pledges
Will solo all 3 first thing tomorrow morning.

Sat/Sun: Will complete at least 1-2 DLC dungeon stickerbooks while not worrying about group finder.

It's super easy if you have a tank or healer....or can carry yourself in a random normal as a fake tank or healer.

I've actually been having a lot of fun this time around with this event. Even queuing as a DD doesn't seem to take as long. My transmute crystal stock is filling up nicely as well.

And lo it's not even all FG1 :-)

Best event. I like dungeons, I like boxes. Now I get dungeons and boxes. Only thing I need now is random dlc only q so I don't have to select them all every time to manually randomize it.

But yeah, never pug a quest if you actually want to finish it, event or not.

i used to use an addon that allowed to quick select all dungeons you were still missing gear for, but it broke when new dungeons were released and the addon was never updated, sad times lol

Cant say ive ever seen a real healer kicked from a dungeon. Its nice to be able to go full damage every now and again.

Basically: run FG1 solo You gave me a chuckle, OP.

The only issue I've had with the event so far was that some groups didn't want to do HM on pledge dungeons (and really easy dungeons too, like Spindle 1, for eg.). The HM wouldn't have taken any extra time so I was really baffled why they wanted to skip it, and it happened on three different runs, which was really odd. But PUGs during the event do tend to get more haphazard than usual, so if you want a good experience, definitely go with a premade.

I have three as well, but I'm not interested in the event, or the morphables this year. I get tickets during events I like to collect some of the indriks I don't have yet.

And for me it's not unhealthy - I play for 5-6 hours in the morning to early afternoon - around cleaning, cooking, and driving either an 80 mile or 140 mile round trip for shopping, doctors' appointments, getting new tires on the SUV (this coming Friday).... you know, normal life. Oh, and the ever-present laundry of course.

And in the evening while husband watches games on tv, I read voraciously and write (nothing I'm willing to publish - but I can't NOT write!) I also still have a few website management clients so I have stuff going on with them as well.

I enjoyed Undaunted when it was first announced, now I just rush for the tickets. Doesn't make it less fun for other players.

It's actually one of the easiest for me. One solo run on FG1 and I'm done.

Had Elden Hollow 1 the other day on a healer, pretty easy I think. Level 20 something and 30 something DD's and a CP tank, I still think everything's fine.

Then on the plant boss, while me and the DD's are fighting the boss, the tank runs through the all the other mobs and bosses, sending all of the enemies to us. I'm sure if he could have got through to the last boss, he would have.

We finished it OK but it does prove that it's not always the lower level players that are the problem.

I really like the Undaunted event. The double curated drops is a great way to get sets filled out in the stickerbook.

Farming is best done with a tank or healer though.

I now have my stickerbook filled for all base game dungeons and the worth while DLC ones.

I'll run FG1 solo for the remainder of the event, as I only play this MMO for the yearly updates; something you never get in a single player game.

Looking forward to the never-ending dungeon reveal, lets just hope they don't louse it up.

isn't almost everything soloable in this game? Except maybe trials (some bosses you solo) and a few dungeons. Sadly you don't even get an achievement for working hard (build- and skill- wise) for soloing some vdlc hm. That's what I like about ESO tbh - it's almost completely soloable and there's enough challenging content to engage

I love the event, farming the sets I need thanks to double drop.

I don't get the people that complain about rushing dungeon, you should understand that lot of people uses the event to fill the stickerbook.

After you will have plenty of time to do things in a different way.

If it wasn't for the double final drops to fill my sticker book, I wouldn't bother using the group finder. I find it too much of a pain in the backside, in all respects, making dungeons not a great experience. Much better to solo, though slower, as I don't like to miss things out. Once I fill my sticker book it will be ta ta dungeons for me. Only do them for the gear and the one skill point you can get.

Not really. One is a storage/crafting account, I generally just collect log in rewards on there unless there's an event item I particularly like. The other is my daughters which I'm running maintenance on while she hasn't got a playstation. Same deal really and if she's visiting she does it herself. Most events it's just pre-running a few dailies to hand in once it starts and I manage it so the time consumung ones are skipped. Only reason I'm doing Dungeons on them all is because the next event is tied to the chapter so isn't alt friendly.

The one I need to stop with is NA server on my main - started up there when it was the only way to fill in PS5 trophies and now I'm stuck with it
