Request: Keep pickpocket chance the same after getting Ember's Hidden wallet

Hello, eso world,

There've been a few threads already on the decrease in the pickpocketing chance after receiving Ember's Hidden Wallet from her perk:
1. https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/607167/embers-companion-perk from attackofjack
2. https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/623076/i-think-embers-perk-is-buggy from rishikesa108

and most notably 3. https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/633046/embers-intuition-perk-seems-more-like-a-loss-than-a-gain from gabbo1928

How difficult would it be to code the same % chance for pickpocketing after getting the wallet? (e.g., say your first attempt is a 75% chance, but instead of lowering to 60% the next chance stays at 75%, and then decreases accordingly for subsequent attempts).

If a perk is defined as a bonus, then the current mechanic is punitive--we literally have a lower chance of success as a result of the perk activating. If it could be coded along the lines I am suggesting it would keep the perk as a perk rather than a (albeit minor) punishment for having the perk activate.

Post to add: I want to be mindful of how things can be read. I did not mean the, "how difficult can it be?" question as an attack. I am genuinely curious as to how feasible it is to make this type of change.

I reported the same problem that happened with Sharp's Upgrade during the PTS phase of U38, but ZOS didn't respond with any answers or changes. Maybe they never will.

I haven't been pickpocketing recently cause I've mostly played low legerdemain character. But I did a weekly pickpocketing endeavour with a 20 legerdemain char at some point and at leat did not notice difficulty going up when picking a Hidden Wallet. Has difficulty going up from picking a wallet been verified to happen?

I assumed it went down as normal, but won't go lower than the third stage eg 100-95-85-85 (I din't know the actual numbers)

Also what's wrong with Sharp's bonuses? It only affects the chances of catching extra bait, replacing those drops with another chance at a trophy fish. It doesn't do anything else.

Then you got the point perfectly.

Yeah, it depends on when the hidden wallet drops. If you get the wallet on the first pick, and the chance of that first pick (to use your sequence) is 100, it will drop to 95. It's only if you get the wallet on the third pick that the chance remains the same--but for me I never pick a third time. I just BoW and move on.

Was it...meant to do something else? Was it advertised differently? What was the issue, because that seems like a perk to me.

It's a perk you can't get rid of and detrimental if all you want is fish for filleting. I've done all the angling achievements, now when I fish I just want Perfect Roe, which doesn't come from trophy fish

Ah, it doesn't affect filet fish drops. It affects BAIT drops. So for example if there's a 2/5 chance for filet fish, 2/5 for bait and 1/5 for a trophy, it changes the odds to 2/5, 1/5, 2/5 respectively. Your odds of getting white fish to filet are not changed at all.

Hi everyone, we’d like to address the concerns raised in this thread about the Sharp’s Patience Companion Perk and clear up a few things.

For context, here’s the patch note for this perk:

“Sharp provides ‘Sharp’s Patience’ which offers an improved chance at finding trophy fish and slightly reducing reel time."

We hear your concerns about if the increase in trophy fish will result in an overall decrease in value. The short answer is no. Here are the main takeaways:
    • The appearance rate of Pyandonean Bottles, Waterlogged Psijic Satchels, and Gunny Sacks are not influenced by Sharps Patience; the overall appearance rate of these items has not changed.
    • With this perk, players can catch fish faster overall due to decreased reel time.
    • Sharp’s Patience perk does stack with the Champion Passive Reel Technique. They are calculated separately. You can benefit from both simultaneously, as well as with other fishing buffs and food such as Artaeum Pickled Fish Bowl, and fishing with friends.
    • Percent chance of catching bait (Chub, Minnow, Shad, and non-perfect fish roe) has been reduced with Sharp's passive. The increase in trophy fish is offset specifically by the reduction of these items.
We hope that helps clear up any concerns about this perk. Please let us know if you have any follow-up questions.

You actually get more fish for filleting with Sharp's perk because it increases the speed you can catch them (by decreasing the time it takes to reel in).

Thanks for the quote, I missed this information since it did not directly appear in the relevant feedback thread of the PTS section. It's good news for players who unlocked Sharp's passive, and I wonder whether it will be the same mech on Ember's.

Embers wallet does not replace anything. Instead of typical 3 picks you get 4 picks if you get the hidden wallet. If you do the pick, pick, stab routine instead of picking the fellow empty before stabbing there is a possibility of looting a wallet from corpse and missing the final (likely low value trash) item.
