As the title says, biting other players doesn't work, I asked other players to test it and it didn't work either, this was in The Rift, don't know if other shrines have the same issue. So I guess now players do need to buy that sweet Crown Store vampire bite

There's a lot of options what possibly went wrong:
- no skill point spent to bite other people
- bite on cooldown
- you're already a Werewolf
- you already have the quest but never completed it
- wrong shrine
- take off disguise, polymorphs or other appearance changing effects
- wrong distance between participants
- weird angle on positioning

My bet goes to that you're wearing a disguise of some sort.

This is an issue affecting both vampires and werewolves atm.

There have been quite a few discussions across my guilds about this recently and from what we have been able to test and check out the issue is that the bite cooldowns are bugged quite badly.

Since the cooldown was changed to end on a Tuesday for everyone, the game seems to get very confused and unable to work this out.

I never change anything on any of my characters that can give bites and had never had any problems until recently, now it is very hit and miss whether my bites will work.

Two weeks ago I could not bite with my vamp, no cooldown was showing and absolutely nothing had been changed from the last time I had bitten someone. We tried all three vampire shrines and got several other guildmates with bites up to try too, with no success, obviously everyone kept saying "you aren't a werewolf are you?" I think the guy took it well but was a bit fed up, he wasn't a new player!

He managed to get a bite several hours later and the next week on Tuesday my bite worked fine, this week it's bugged out again! There is definitely a problem, I make my home in Riften and zone chat is often about bites of both types not working.......makes a change from the "bites are free!" arguments!! 🤣

I'm not sure if this is related, but there is an issue this patch where the bite timer for both werewolves and vampires actually pauses when you log off, like the XP scroll buffs do. You could bite someone the moment the weekly bite timer resets, and then you'd have to be logged in for 7 real world days for the timer to run down, since the timer will not run down while you are not logged into that character.

It could be that you had expected to be off bite cooldown, but you were erroneously still on cooldown. I'd check your buffs and debuffs list to see if you're on cooldown.

A temporary solution would be to play that character until the timer runs out, and only bite people the day before the bite timer is supposed to reset. This will ensure you're only penalized for a smaller, more manageable amount of time, and you'll likely be able to give out another bite within a week.

This issue has occurred for myself when attempting to bite someone, as well another player in my guild over the last 2 days. We tried the Bangkorai shrine as well as The Rift. I hope a fix is implemented soon. This puts a damper on the vampire "economy."

Hi all, just wanted to update here. Our team is aware of the issue and working on a fix to this. We’ll update when we have more information. But this is currently not working as intended.

Glad to see that this is not only me and it is being looked into. I logged on with my vamp, no cooldown, did some writs, called in my companion and went exploring. All of a sudden, 6hrs and 30mins of cooldown. I didn't bite anyone nor any npc.

Update: Just logged in again after the timer, it disappeared. However, when I went to leave the thieves den (where I logged in), got the loading screen, then I am back at 6hrs and 20mins bite cooldown (where I was previously after playing 10 minutes).

This bug is still extant.

I literally watched my vampire bite cooldown time out, down to zero.

My character is still a vampire, and has the skill.

I was at a vampire shrine (I tried at two shrines, in fact - Bangkorai and Reapers March).

There was a player with me, who wanted to become a vampire. And was not already a vampire, nor a werewolf.

I could not bite him. Other vampire players in the area DID have the option to bite him.

Like I said, I should have been able to bite any player that wanted to be bitten, because I had literally watched the cooldown count down to zero (from 12 minutes left when he first asked).

After another vampire was found, to bite him, it turned out that I could not bite any *other* vampire-wannabe - at any of the shrines.

First it was the DB quest causing this, abandoning the quest fixed it. Now its something else causing this.

Ugh, i hate being an impotent vampire...

Today I had this bug for the first time (xbox eu). Neither of the two players waiting I could bite (werewolf, ritual site Rift). No cooldown or bite countdown ongoing. Did even the quackery suggestions like log off/on, death, other ritual site and such.

Being aware of the bug is nice. At least rising the chance of NPC encounters in the wild (vamp or ww) would have been even nicer for players wanting to be blessed, bitten, cursed... , especially in October and all that.

Man this is frustrating. The timer doesn't work. The bite works half the time. I go do bites on all the characters at once, with maybe a 15, 20 minute difference between them. NOW I'll get on one that should have a bite and it just WILL NOT happen. No timer shows up. Nothing shows up on the character screen saying I can't do it. I have the skill. This is ridiculous. Fix it please!!

Can’t bite. Still bugging, obviously. I tried EVERYTHING. Abandoned ALL quests, reset all skills, took off all costumes, outfits, relogged… nothing is fixing it.

If you see a naked vamp hanging around Evermore… probably me

Just wanna chime in, I've got the countdown timer bug for my vamp on ps5 EU. I bit someone last Sunday afternoon and been stuck with a continuous countdown ever since.

I think I found a fix!! I hope! Well I managed to bite someone, anyway. I got a new bite on a different armory slot build, did the quest, and was able to bite! I saved it over the old vamp armory build I had… so it remains to be seen if the bite still works next week. I’ll try to remember to update.

Bite Timer now: Shows the correct time until reset on Tuesday. If, for example, the character went offline 6 hours before the timer reset on Tuesday, then this time (6 hours) will be shown and half of the reset, if the timer is not immediately visible, then it appears when the location is changed. If you do nothing, the timer will reach zero and start again. If you wait, and then go offline, the timer will become minus the online time. To reset the timer completely. you need to be online with this character, and watch as the timer reaches zero. This is either with an "official" reset, or already with an "erroneous" reset, which is discussed above. That's how it is now with this bite timer.

I don't remember when the last time I gave someone a bite was. I thought it had been a week ago but I wasn't certain. Someone was asking for a bite yesterday and I told them that I could so long as my cooldown wasn't bugged. I had no cooldown timer buff at all. The only time I did was the day I had done the last bite and I remember it showing 18 hours instead of 6 days and change. Sadly, I could not give them the vamp bite that they wanted.

Honestly, I was okay with the full 7 day timer. It did not need to be changed. Perhaps this should be reverted until they can figure out a proper solution.

Bite is off cooldown and I have the passive.

I have seen others biting people so I know it works for them.

Reported as a bug via the in-game UI but heard nothing. Not even the autoreply to say thanks for reporting a bug.

The only acknowledgment you get from a bug report is the pop-up window in game letting you know the ticket number and that you won’t get a reply at all. If you didn’t see that, it may be that the report didn’t go through. You can check whether it did in the ticket section of the support website.

In this case, though, they are already aware of this and working on a fix.

okay, have been able to "bless" a player today. The 'Bit an Ally' cooldown time remaining has started at 1d 11h ...

The text below reads: 'You have bitten another player. You may not do so again for seven days.'

I know, I know, all due to the timer change in some past "patch" and it is known by the devs. This is sort of a note. I'll try biting again in two days, then in eight days.

BTW, anyone remember the 'Wolfman's got nards!' scene in the movie The Monster Squad? Could be a perfect meme for what is happening here I leave that to the native English speaking meme creators....

Edit2: Nov 2nd - tried to bite, no dice

3rd Edit: Nov 13th - successful bite. Guess what, my cooldown timer shows 8 hours and seven minutes left till I can bless another player. Yeah, right.... Well, let's see, what tomorrows patch, err, update will do...

4th Edit: Dec 5th - successful bite, been a long time The good thing: cooldown time shows six days and some hours, so that would make somewhat more sense than the numbers before the patch. Let's wait and see and bite...

5th Edit: Dec 22nd - successful bite, wasn't in the Rift for a longer time Anyway, cool down timer started with 4d 3h, hence nothing changed since that change in cool down timing... And still the text of "Bit an Ally" reads "... You may not do so again for seven days." How many of those patches, updates and whatever does it take to alter at least the text to something that reflects the change?

6th Edit & hopefully the last one: Dec 26th - successful bite, cool down time was gone, but the old timing would have still applied. Hence it is somewhat save to say, that ZOS indeed solved this situation. Thanks
