Treasure Maps - Bank / Bag Space

Treasure maps should be a one time usage and consume type thing, like the way you learn a recipe.

They use up large amounts of bag space, no doubt I'll be destroying mine within the next few hours.

They are one time use. They go away once you dig up the treasure.

As for the CE treasure maps that come in the mail, do *NOT* take them all out of the container!

Just take the containers and remove one CE map at a time when you are in that zone and leave the others in there until you need them.

That way, you have much less maps in your inventory or bank ...
    :)

In hindsight that's a great idea.

It's gone as soon as you dig up the treasure chest. So you can only use the Imperial Edition maps once per account. There are however other treasure maps you can find and you can find the same ones more than once.

Edit: Clarifying the I.E. (CE) maps are just given out once to the account and can be used by one character only.

I did the same thing and named her "Treasure Map Mule" so I'd know not to delete that character.

Pretty fail pre-order 'bonus' system they have. Especially since nothing on the website or the order pages ever stated it was restricted to one character.

Resistance is not futile! Say no to the Greed Collective™. Boycott Crown Crates.

Early on the blue loot from the CE chests is very useful and that loot can be shared and passed on to other characters through the bank.

Plus, if you're like me, and you have one character in each faction, they all can find and use their own CE loot as they go through the faction zones.

So, stupid question but when I right click on the container it just gives me the "use" option. How do you remove one map at a time instead of opening the whole container. I'm afraid if I click the "use" option it is going to give me all the maps.

They're not restricted. You can put the maps in the bank and have another character use them. They're just one-time use.

That has not been true in my experience. The software (patch 2.2.4) will not allow my avatar to deposit ANY Treasure Map in the bank. It won't allow me to send them through the e-mail from one of my characters to another one, because "you cannot send an e-mail message to yourself". Perhaps I can send a Treasure Map to another player's character. Or I might be able to "trade" one with another player's PC -- I haven't tried either transfer, but I doubt they would be allowed.

Most of the Treasure Maps which I acquired were included in the Explorer's Pack Edition of the game software, sold on DVD in game stores. I found the last remaining package at a local Game Stop store and bought it. The maps were sent to my character(s) by the game host through the in-game "e-mail" system after I installed the software. So I downloaded them to the avatar that I had created before I bought the Imperial upgrade.

These Treasure maps were distributed in a separate package for each of the three alliances, plus one for Cold Harbor and another for Oblivion. Each alliance package contains just one map for each zone in that alliance. (I don't know how many are in the ones for CH or Oblivion.)

Using a package to extract its maps destroys the package. They cannot be stored in the bank. So, they occupy a large number of scarce bag storage spaces, even if you extract just the maps for one of the three alliances. Each remains until either you "DESTROY" it or, I suppose, the map is destroyed by the game host if your avatar finds the treasure at the location it supposedly discloses.

Again, neither the packages nor their individual maps can be transferred to my Imperial avatar in any way that I have found.

But as bad as the features of this "benefit" have been -- it is more akin to a "booby prize" than a "boon"! -- I've never found any treasure with any of them.

First of all, the so-called "map" is not, in fact, a map. It is a line-drawing picture of what you would, supposedly, see while your character is standing in a specific spot or very near to it. Good luck with finding that spot!! There is not even any indication of whether your character would be looking North, East, West or South to see the view shown in the picture.

Even when I do recognize the view, and return to a place where the view matches the picture, I have not been able to find the "spot" marked on the map. This has led me to believe that the Explorer's Pack Treasure Map benefit has been abandoned, but I haven't read the Patch Notes to determine whether that has occurred.

The "surveys" which are included as rewards for crafting writs are "maps", but very poorly drawn. The sketch of the topographical features is seldom anything near to matching the actual in-game Map (which is displayed when I access it with a character). They typically lack enough useful information to enable me to avoid spending a lot of time and effort looking for the actual location in exchange for very little gain if and when the "plentiful" herbs, minerals, etc. suddenly spawn.

We are all better off searching online for a list of the zones and the map coordinates for the location of the materials instead of attempting to use the "surveys" for them. There are also plenty of add-ons and other resources for finding the hidden "treasures" which the bonus "maps" were supposed to disclose.

Neither the Treasure Maps nor the Surveys have been a meaningful feature of the game for me, at least.

And the Orsinium patch has introduced a bug into the Map which I never found before. Way to go, devs! How long will it take you guys to fix what wasn't broke?
