Gold Spam-- Almost unignorable and unreportable

Manfzain

The spammers have gotten smarter, they have increased the size of their posts and this makes it impossible to report ignore without changing font to an unreadable size. Then you have to change it back.
Something needs to be done, it's making the game very unplayable.

Yeah I posted about that earlier as well. It is a real problem. The only solution I can see is to prevent of many lines to text being typed at once.

So people understand, increasing the size of the chat window does NOT fix it. You can have it max size and unless you decrease font size, you can't find their name.

Makes it hard to report, and makes the screenshot hard to read.

Yeah, had to reduce font size to 10 and max size of chat window to ignore them. Scum bags.

Aside from just having an admin sitting in zone chat and banning each one as they appear, I'd suggest making the entire message right-clickable so you don't have to deal with any of the spammers' tricks hiding their names.

It would also be great if the click menu had a "Report Spam" option like some other games do; two clicks and report is sent, and user is ignored. As is, I know a lot of people are just ignoring them instead of reporting since reporting is too much of a hassle dealing with the Support interface.

Yup, that would make life a hell of allot easier.

This issue needs to be addressed. Yes, I know the spammers are in all of the games these days, but at some point, a company needs to step up and do something about it. Start blocking the IP of the reported spammers (of course, check the logs before the ban/block to verify their chat history).

Enough is enough. I know, I can turn off zone chat, I can ignore them, I can report them: I'm tired of that. It takes time to click the options and type why I'm reporting them and then to again engage my chat box in order to right click them again to ignore them.

FYI: Font size 12 and under will let you get to their name.

I must say I am appalled but at the same time not surprised that people have already taken the advantage to gold farm and spam. People that exploit the chat window for the sake of trying to sell game gold suck. Is there a way to block messages in chat via criteria that such texts fall into....that would be nice.

Something needs to be done about this problem. I suggest people posting on this forum so it catches attention. The more people that have this problem, the better chances you have of getting staff attention. Keep up the posting and let people know this forum is here.

Not to mention the tickets clog up the system for actual support issues that aren't tattling on rulebreakers. That guy stuck in a rock that can't get out or port to wayshrine gets to wait in line for after the gold seller tickets.

You make a very good point. Is all this reporting really worth screwing the guy over who is stuck in the world environment? Perhaps there is a way to partition the tickets so we actually have a "gold spam" option. That way, the people who see this will have a separate category to scan through and not have to ignore the people with real problems. I don't know how practical this is, but it is an idea :)

Great game anyway though. I'm loving it so far :D

Addons exist which both allow you to filter goldspam as well as automatically add goldspammers to your ignore list.

This list can then be brought up using a slash command, allowing you to see everyone whom the addon has filtered and ignored.

If you so choose, you can then take that list and submit it all at once to ZOS for investigation.

    Cheers!

For the time being until something is done to handle the amount of gold sellers and powerleveler services that decided it was a smart idea to pop up here, grab the spam filter mods from Esoui, they really do wonders.

I was painfully adding each one to my ignore list every time one came up... seems to have died down in the last 2 hours. Come to think of it, I haven't seen anymore spammers for a while....

Here's hoping! (But it is probably just past their bedtime.)

I just found this and figured you could try it out:
    http://www.esoui.com/downloads/info89-SpamFilter.html

Seems like that would cause some processing issues considering how much text there is in chat... but who knows.. it probably works very well!

I'd suggest making the entire message right-clickable

It would also be killing two birds with one stone if devs could make chat text selectable in a cpoy/paste kind of way. This way, one could copy/highlight the entire chat spam message, making it easier to read in screenshots as well as solving the name not showing problem.

Regardless of what they do, please...don't simply ignore them. They'll never go away that way. We have a responsibility here, much the same as if you were to see someone using an exploit. We're SUPPOSED to be reporting them, not simply ignoring them. This add on that supposedly blocks them? I'll never use it, because it interferes with my doing the right thing.
I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.

Unfortunatly even though the Gold spammers are being blocked in the zone chat some have figured out how to use the mailing system I had 29 letters in my mail all from gold spammers wanting me to use their site.
Yay I blocked them in Zone now I need a way to block them from using my mail maybe that's why Zen pulled mail down before the server maintenance.

Its exactly why Blizzard added the right click report feature.

While I think they suck in dealing with said reports(nothing ever comes of it) I think its a great idea and ZOS could work with it. Assign a couple folks exclusively to that.

This is utterly ridiculous. Its such a long f********* process to report these gold spammers! I can ignore them till im blue in the face but it doesnt solve the problem. Expecting addon MODS made for you to deal with the gold spammers is just wrong on so many levels not to mention just simply LAZY!
