I would much prefer new skill lines, or a choice from a palette of skills, than a new class. That way, I get to maintain my two characters, continue to focus my time on their development, and add new flavour to their existing combat (or even controversially, non combat) abilities.

Bard is not a lore based class. We can already be Elder Scrolls version of bards. At best we could have some more illusion magic, but that should just be a skill line.

Speaking of, no more classes. Add skill lines instead.

The Barbarian was a class in Oblivion.

    I said bard.

The DnD bard who uses music in combat is not a thing in TES. Bards are either musicians who we often see in inns, or the skill combination/"class" name for a subset of the thief archtype, that usually uses the skills blade, speechcraft, illusion, mercantile and such. Not singing or playing a lute in combat.

Just because it hasnt been done doesnt mean that it CANT be done...
The thuum is a sound based form of magic using the voice... in the elder scrolls vi skyrim it was said that not only the dragonborn, but others can be trained in the way of the voice... so it goes without saying that it is surely possible when you experience it being used to do a plethora of things..

thaumavocalist is what we've seen before though only from an npc it seems more realistic than being able to use The Way of the Voice. Voice users aren't bards anyways.

really don't believe we'd ever get a class or skill line for thaumavocalism as it requires song. but that is likely as close to dnd bards as we'll get.

A Thu'um user hardly resembles the music playing DnD Bards (in an unmodded Skyrim anyways) nor the Bard class in previous Elder Scrolls games though.

Now that I'm thinking about Skyrim, I suppose it a Greybeards Skill Line in which you access some of the iconic shouts could be fun however.

I don't think a bard class is so far farched. Most inns or taverns in Tamriel have singers and lutists, which adds to the overall atmosphere of the game. /Guitar and /drum makes everyone into a musician.

I could never have predicted dolmens covered in green and surrounded by laser beams from books.

If a bard class eventually arrives I would hope for a magically musical colour which pulses gently in time with their dulcet tones.

Have to admit, ya got us there. I'm still hoping for monk one day though. It wouldn't be a huge stretch to go from iksar monk(12+ years) to Argonian monk. Or maybe the smallest wood elf monk I can make(do we have a green "skin"? I gotta find a green skin. Wait....GOBLIN. ZOS! you gotta give us goblin race with monk! (Best Yoda voice)"Hmm, no soul you have"

Sorry guys. I try to keep it in but sometimes my brain, it escapes.

Barb because ESO badly needs another class that is almost entirely melee range/warrior archetype oriented but without the overly flashy animations and dot oriented playstyle of dk. Something whose class abilities tend to be more buff/heal/tank oriented but rely on weapon spammables. Like stamden without the pseudo nature crap and dumb animals.
