Plans change, understandable, but honestly those 2 things were used as justification for an update without any new content. To see them skim over this is disheartening. I like the focus on base game and bug changes, we've asked for this for a long time, I would hate to see this used as fuel to the fire for people saying we're just getting less content each year now... but it kind of appears that way so far.

They've said since the global reveal in January that the combined attunable stations, along with the 'endless dungeon' were Q4 things. Q3 was always just QoL and bugfixes.

I get that the community's really excited about both of them, but when people keep passing things along by word of mouth and not telling the whole story, then we get people expecting it every other patch. Even today in the livestream, they repeated the crafting stations were a Q4 thing.

Q4. That'll be up on PTS in mid September for an early November release.

    Incorrect.

Go to Bethesda Softworks youtube channel and go to their "ESO 2023 Global Reveal" livestream. Go to 29 minutes and 50 seconds in.

And I quote, "..late summer, our focus is going to be on bugs and quality of life additions. Things like a pre-made group finder or an all-in-one attuneable set crafting station for example..".

There is the whole story for you.

Even if those things were there, was anyone else expecting something more?

The patch notes are fine, but I was expecting something more… Dramatic? I guess?

The notes aren't fine. I was expecting fixes to the major bugs we've been experiencing for quite some time, not just very minor and low chance bugs from old quests. I don't think there's a single bug fix in this patch that's noteworthy, and this was supposed to be the patch where all the resources were poured into bug fixes. Some of the QOL changes are alright, but things like the prologue NPCs spamming you are not going to be seen by the majority of the community, and the leveling system is so fast that any new player who progresses through the starter islands will hardly feel any of those new changes because you can easily come off those islands at level 10-12.

I mean. I would say that this patch being less means we actually might get a decent Q4 patch. The past 2 years have been Zone DLCs with nothing for endgame. No arena. No skill lines. Nothing. Just more side quests and story to 2 tap the "big bad" through. So I'll hold my judgement untill I see what they do with Q4, because they technically have extra time and resources to really flesh out an interesting and fun new system.

All the devs working on levels, combat, art, animations, vfx, ai, etc, didn't have to spend time on Q3 so idealy their extra work should show come Q4. Those departments didn't spend this quarter on bug fixes so unless they all took a vacay at the same time, they had to be doing something. :D

Time will tell.. Pre-made group finder alone is esentially a Trial queue system. I mean that will revolutionize the end game scene for PVE.

You have more hope than I, but honestly if this is what we're getting now, this is the type of quality we should expect going forward. The majority of this update feels like a minor hotfix that's done in the middle of the week. This quarter was usually combat balancing and dungeons. The combat balancing was minimal with this patch which I'm totally fine with since frequent major updates to combat balance are a slog to deal with. What we got in place of the dungeons was also very minimal even though it was expected to have the all in one attunable crafting station and premade group finder with this patch. Crafting station got moved to Q4 which is the new systems patch, and there's no word on the premade group finder. So what exactly are we getting for U39 that would make the game play better? It's a weak patch with a lot of filler to look as if something was being done. We still have the following major bugs like stuck in combat, interact bug that forces your bar swap, and break free bugging your animations for 2 full seconds.

I'm hoping that the group finder was delayed, so that they can find a way to put Bastion Nymic in it.

    And hopefully arenas.

Dont forget that there is still the 'community participation of the new chapter daily quest with its Q4 awarded aggregating reward' event still to come. You know, the 'free' content we 'earn' even though we already prepaid for it🤣

I'm not surprised because it always sounded to me like a reduction in the quantity of content in order to make changes like these. 🤷🏿‍♀️ QOL changes are typically small changes (for the user not necessarily for the work needed) designed to increase usability. They are basically now dedicating this patch to resolving minor issues that have built up over the years because they aren't priority at other times. Major changes will likely continue to happen throughout the year.
