Central Skyrim

Will we ever see Central Skyrim ?

In the base game we have access to Eastern Skyrim (Eastmarch & The Rift); in Horn of the Reach we have access to Falkreath Hold; and in Dark Heart of Skyrim we have Western Skyrim (Haafingar, Hjaalmarch, Karthald and The Reach).

So we are still missing The Pale, Whiterun and Winterhold.

Are we going to have access to them before the Fourth Era ? What do you think, should we ?
During the afternoon of Loredas, 6 Sun’s Dawn 2e578 a big piece of Aetherius fell to Nirn. It was the first major piece of Aetherius to fall on Nirn in more than five hundred years. It scattered around the world as millions of shards. It was rapidly documented by Lady Cinnabar of Taneth in her pamphlet Aetherial Fragments that "... when three shards meet, they re-form into a silvery prism by unknown process and confer the power unlocked by the merger to a nearby being." The Order of the Black Worm, commonly known as the Worm Cult, reappeared in Tamriel shortly thereafter and some of its members are avidly searching said shards.
In the last week of First Seed 2e579, an arcane explosion occurred in the Imperial City — a night of storms, and trembling terrain. They named it the "Soulburst". That day Emperor Varen Aquilarios disappeared without a trace. His wife, Clivia Tharn, ascended to the Ruby Throne as Empress Regent under the guidance of the Necromancer Mannimarco. Ushering a time of increased instability within the Empire of Cyrodiil which finally grew into “The Three Banners War”.

We're also missing lots of Black Marsh, Cyrodiil, Morrowind, Hammerfell, and central Elsweyr.

I hope all of the map gets filled *with care and detail* eventually. I feel like Hammerfell is due before more of Skyrim though.

Even road access. East of the Lost Valley wayshrine in The Reach there is a landslide blocking the road. If you look at the whole map is should give us access into Craglorn.

Supposedly we’re going back to Skyrim in next year’s Chapter as it‘s heavily hinted (Winterhold). But dear god, I don’t want another Skyrim Chapter yet. It‘s just so unappealing to me because it‘s more of the same we already have (one reason why Telvanni Peninsula is so boring, because Morrowind already did it better).

Heavily hinted? It's not just one mention in quest? Lyris talked about going to Skingrad in Reach DLC 3 years ago and we still didn't see this city. Personally I bet for Hammerfell (TES VI will be in 5+ years so they won't wait that long) or random, small province with another daedric realm...

Afaik there‘s always a real hint and a fake hint. We‘re not getting another zone this year, so the hint is definitely somewhere in Necrom. I don’t know of any other NPC that tells us where (s)he‘s headed next. Unless we find one, I go with Winterhold as the next location.

I doubt we‘ll ever get something Hammerfell related, that‘s were TES VI is taking place. Is that causing conflict? Not really, but I think they’re keeping that place as unknown and mysterious as possible for the franchise‘s main entry.

I would love to see the northern shores of The Pale again as it was one of my favourite places to explore in ES V. It had such a mood about it. But then the Redguards really could do with some more content first. I’m deeply interested in all places, all races and all cultures, so whatever happens will make me happy.

    So, let’s see…

We had Greymoor - Which highlighted Nords

Blackwood - Which highlighted imperials and Argonians

High Isle - Which highlighted Bretons

Necrom - Which highlighted Dark Elves

    That’s 3 out the last 4, if I didn’t forget one.

Can we get something for a different faction before going back to EP? Wood Elves, Redguard, and Orcs are due for some love really.

I'd really like some Imperial content. Imperials are really one of the most neglected races in Tamriel at this point. Orcs had an entire chapter in the Wrothgar expansion, it was a great expansion.

    the Imperials have Blackwood
    the Khajiits have Elsweyr

I think you can really count Craglorn as a Redguard Chapter overall. So the only race lacking one are Bosmer, but haven’t we seen all of Valenwood in game already? I know Falinesti is missing, but I doubt that’ll ever be a Chapter.

The Systres, or at least Galen, has been a part of TES lore for decades (since TES 2: Daggerfall at least). Granted, you couldn't go there, but it was mentioned in the breton racial background.

Sure, they could expand on Hammerfell... there's plenty of land to be covered, like Taneth.

As for orcs... while they could expand on the wood and iron orcs a bit more, Orsinium covered orcs pretty well.

Blackwood - Which highlighted imperials and Argonians - Not really, it highlighted daedra. Imperials and argonians where just some cultureless decoration.

High Isle - Which highlighted Bretons - Which many threads told after the release. Not really. Legacy of Bretons gave barely anything to bretons

Necrom - Which highlighted ]Dark Elves - Going by some comments here on the forum, there again seem to be barely any highlight of the actual race and culture of the zone.

Wood elves, redguards and orc could do with more, but so could argonians, imperials (and bretons too technically, really, but we just "had them").
But then they truly should get some love, not this saying we will get content for them, but they go focus on daedra or something else instead.

I can definitely imagine Whiterun being added and Breezehome being a player home. :)

I would like to see more areas of Cyrodiil opened up for PvE. I think Cyrodiil is really, pretty epic being so large and it takes forever to get anywhere (a lot of nothing but with some ruins scattered here and there) which makes it more believable as opposed to going from A to B within seconds and the lack of fast travel but PvP, you know...

      Everywhere feels so condensed.

But yeah, as an Empire/Legion/Imperial fanboy, I would love some Cyrodiil PvE without the risk of being ganked! :D

I love these threads, I'll never not respond.

Firstly, @BlueRaven good post, but I have issues with correlating race deep dives with the classic 3bw factions- both because the alliances have become pretty much peripheral and because the races were always larger than any faction anyway- e.g. *some* Nords are EP, many are about as Pact as the Bretons are, in truth. Missing that is missing a big fact of the story the devs keep trying to drive home.

My first guess for the longest time was Colovia. Skingrad's a fan-favourite, and there are lots of interesting Ayleid ruins around, meaning opportunity to bring back Meridia for a 10th year return.

But I am intrigued by the possibility of Skyrim: I think Necrom/Dunmer chapter conclusively dispels all the "release formulas" fans like to come up with, meaning Skyrim *could* be on the table, even if it featured relatively recently. Especially if ZOS are willing to do something different with the chapter, so that its not a 1:1 "Skyrim = Nords" kinda deal. Much like they've done with Blackwood, or TP, or many other things, it could straddle many major themes to make it very unique.

While some people definitely want something different, but its no secret that nostalgia is a massive draw for many people. I could see them hitting Whiterun and the TotW for this reason. Alternatively, Winterhold would give the developers the opportunity to do something they seem to really love- Winterhold's 4th era collapse gives the developers the opportunity to put their own spin on the world, creating something we've never seen before, but being able to do so in a land that's super familiar. That's something I'd love to see.

Thinking a bit more "out-there", and noting that the zones ZOS develop are often not 1:1 to some province, I could see them doing such a zone that straddled the Velothi border, encompassing not only Winterhold, but also Blacklight. I think there are nice thematic connections to draw on- there's overlap in the biomes, obviously, but also enough variety to mix things up. Winterhold also always boasted a significant dunmer population (due to its proximity to Morrowind and its arcane college). Perhaps 2 consecutive Dunmerish chapters in a row might be too much, though?

One thing I thought was really interesting is the buildings in Cipher's Midden. Its curious to me that they might have developed these (imv) *distinctively Nordic* structures (however well-masked by the sorrounding Apocrypha stuff) with no intention of reuse. That, and the NPC on the docks at Necrom looking at the map of Skyrim. @TinyDragon also pointed out a book found in Apocrypha that seems to suggest references to the preceding couple of chapters, and then Skyrim.

I agree with those who are speculating that ZOS might be holding Hammerfell back for now. I can't imagine they want to make something that is likely to drastically clash with something Bethesda is going to put out sooner or later, even if its 5 year's time. I don't see the point in "working closely with Bethesda studios" if not to avoid clashes in vision such as these. BUT, I'm totally open to being surprised!

@Ashnarug I don't feel like Falkreath "Hold" is covered by the dungeon of that name, as the dungeon really only covered the city itself. There are still MANY fascinating locations in that area left to be covered. Helgen, Pale Pass, Lake Ilinalta, I could go on and on... my best guess is that a future Whiterun Hold will encompass explorable Falkreath Hold in its southern reaches.

      Gah.

Just to push back on this idea- not attacking the things you value or anything- but the 20ish years worth of fan projects putting this province back in that game highlights that for many people, going back to Skyrim, or Morrowind, or even Daggerfall now (shoutout to Skygerfall) should demonstrate that there's more appeal to seeing their favourite places in some engine than "just playing TES V Skyrim."

For me, for instance, I can go and play Skyrim any time I like too, but I can't take THIS character. I can't go there, and then cross the border into High Rock and do more things. All the things I do in this game mean nothing if I just "go back to TES V Skyrim".

I can see how it might be frustrating to see those views expressed when you just want to see new stuff, but it makes plenty of sense.

tbh I never play in western skyrim or the basegame zones, as they feel so much less interesting than in ESV-Skyrim.
Although I do love the region (played skyrim a second time, in VR), I would prefer for ESO if they add new, unseen zones first
