Vampire passive - 30% less DMG
Revealing Flare skill - 10% less DMG

Throw on a shield spam - OK

But how do they maintain permanently CC immune?

    Is there a health/immovable potion?

I've only seen the magika restore/immovable potions.

    What's missing?

And what is the counter? Defile troll build?

Also, unrelated, but the tool tip for plague break set is not very big, compared to DK deep breath skill or proxy set, or even Vicious Death set

Yet, I sometimes get hit with a 13k plus DMG - and look on the floor and see only 3 other players dead.

The scale up says 50% increase per player, but it seems much higher. What am I missing?

There is literally a health immovable potion on the siege vendor. Also does invisibility

    Health/immovable potion spamming?
Is that what is likely happening/they using?
Is this the "key" or is there more?

Referring to when many vs one or two and DK talons spam has no effect...

    Thanks,

Even with Arcanist, it's still just throw on the same sets being used for DK and Sorc and go. Even with a new class it's still the same old sets already meta for every other class. (vat ice staff, marselok, masters maces, Dragons Appetite)

Possible they could be using immovable pots adding to 6 sec natural CC immunity after being hard CC by other players spamming them.

Talons are not part of that though. They are what you'd call soft CC as a root. And there are abilities such as shuffle in medium armor line, Race Against Time from Psijiic skill line, wings or both DK and Warden, ball of light in sorc, and night blade has basically a Magicka shuffle in their skill tree that give a few seconds of immunity to roots and snares every time it's cast and they are staples for almost any serious PvP build.

Scratch that-- tied for most successful. Had a stamDK back before DKs became everything. Ran Affliction backbar with a bow and Ward of Cyrodiil front bar. My best dueling character ever-- dot and defile style. Totally my own making. Doubt people use either of those sets.

my magplar runs affliction and enervating aura, along with some monster piece plus oakensoul...one bar builds baby:

it's a build for 2 or 3 bar cyrodiil action...just to mess with folks: dark flare, javelin, time stop...drain their resources...

instead of the jesus beam - which is like 90% of the reason i'll usually play a templar, i settle for soul assault, just can't spam it...

It’s been dead for a while

For instance there is just one viable build for the entire sorc class

@geonsocal Wait you run affliction too?? Does that make it meta?? Lol. Honestly it's not a bad set by design but it's similar to, and therefore overshadowed by, way of fire. Make it major defile instead of minor and you've got yourself something. As it is, minor defile just doesn't have much of an impact, and the proc is small and WAY less often than WoF. BUT. I can see it being fun with dark flare. So that's pretty cool.

Affliction is one of the few:

    - Heavy armor sets with offensive 2-4 lines (OBJ you and I both are Shalk's / Hist Champ fans, two of the others)
    - Damage-oriented procs which can be backbarred and procced with dots

But it's sadly underwhelming - undeservedly so, since it is, iirc, one of two of the original PvP heavy armor proc sets, the other being Elfbane.

Personally I would never even think of slotting Affliciton - IF - Kynmarcher's Cruelty procced off dots too, like its cousin Daedric Trickery does.

@Urzigurumash I tried Hist when it first came out and for whatever reason didn't like it. Prolly cuz of all the max stam. Shalks is a very good set, IMO, but this is from the perspective of someone that frequents Ravenwatch. All of those "save a bar slot" sets that got given a second 5-piece bonus a while back are low-key pretty good-- at least in RW. And I'm struggling to think of examples at the moment but Rattlecage is a good one for sure and the one that gives minor protection (I want to say it's called vampire lord, but don't want to confuse it with the "vampire" one.)

A lot of them have max HP and weapon damage for bonuses, so that's pretty meta right now. And again, in RW, there aren't many (any?) Backbar sets that'll carry over to front so doublebarring something like Shalks becomes even more tempting.

Back when I used Affliction the defile CP was still in place. So. No, I wouldn't really use it anymore, but still I support a dark flaring templar giving it a go.

I think these days if you really want minor defile the best thing to do would probably be to use a Charged fire staff, spam force pulse, and have a disease enchant on your staff. But you'd probably want a character with a decent way to get major breach because using Ele Sus and spamming force pulse seems redundant to me.

i wore shalk's for a while because i had gotten super annoyed about always being stuck in combat, figured i try to at least make being stuck in combat all the time a little useful...

Does the craftable set "Serpent's Disdain" work with any of the PvP defile sets?

Extend status effects by 16 seconds...

    Affliction, Fasallas Guille, Duroks Bane

I just discovered the set and seems interesting...

Or would be better with carve bleed + dragons appetite?

PS: DK, open world, cyrodiil, pug groups

Still trying to find my niche role....

Yes Serpents Disdain effects that. Kynmarchers Cruelty probably deserves mentioning in this context as well.

got to be about 5 years ago now...

I used to love doing "themed" builds - lightning, poison, pets procs...

over the years I've lessened that behavior...

what changed my thinking was reading a quote from someone (I think it was fengrush maybe) stating that unless you kept up with your gear:

you were going to spend a lot of time fighting better versions of yourself...

I've come to learn that to be the truth...

I don't like losing a lot, or even losing easily...

if it's in the game and it works - you should be aware...

ain't a thing wrong with adaptation...

whenever I'm standing over a lot of other dead bodies laying around cyrodiil I'm happy to keep up on the gear chase...

As soon as arena weapons are either nerfed or balanced properly with other dots it will open up a build diversity again, now I'm not saying everyone uses them buy a good majority do in some way or another because they are the only decent dots available.
Other sets and builds are used of course but I'd say they are no where near as effective as pressure builds with arena weapons.

@geonsocal thanks for that shout-out man!

I don't do a lot of themed builds but that build of mine I mentioned earlier, the DK that was tied for my best toon ever, that had a theme.

Poison DoT and defile DK. Named DahPlague. Dyed his armor this really creepy and frankly ugly green. Slapped the weird plaguemask bird skull thing on him. Had him riding the terrible Nix-Ox mount and his non-combat pet was like a swamp fly thing. Fun fun fun.
