Devs, you need to do something about Herald Seekers...

The trouble is the seeker is so far away and wanders there's no way to tell for sure if there is or isn't one that's going to knock you out of antiquities until it happens to you.

That range is insane though if all the screenshots I've seen are real.
Even if it's lore friendly or it made sense, it shows how feel oriented we are and I bet that don't feel good.

    9t4qb6kb5a72.jpg

they only attack when you attack them.
this seeker in my screenshot just moved around calmly until another player attacked.

and when they're being fought they attack people that are super far away as well.

and the herald seekers don't own telvanni peninsula so they're not defending their property, nor do they own apocrypha.

This is not correct. I didn't even see a seeker in the Telvanni Peninsula and then suddenly tentacles were attacking me at the wayshrine that I was trying to use. I did not attack the seeker and if another player attacked it 100 meters away that shouldn't involve me as I wasn't even in the area.

Cant you just kill the seeker before starting to digg? But for what Zos should do is just to protect the digger, make them immune to outside world while digging.

    No everybody can solo them.

It actually is correct - but you are correct as well. If you do not attack a Herald, it won't attack you. BUT if someone aggros a Herald, it's aggro radius for sending out the tentacles is enormous. At a bare minimum, the aggro range of the tentacles needs to be reduced.

I've never had an issue being interrupted digging up antiquities by Herald Seekers, but I have had a whack from tentacles when I couldn't even see one around. I really love the Herald Seekers and Bastion Nymic, it's a really refreshing change from the last few cycles of world events, and I hope you don't lose the sense of wandering peril they bring. I'd rather see antiquities fixed (by letting you keep the loot you've already unearthed, if that's the issue) than ruining the herald seekers by making them tame and lacking-in-menace. I mean, if there's a big scary monster roaming about it probably makes sense to abandon your archaeology for a bit.

I haven’t had a problem with herald seekers in Telvanni Peninsula since the Mayhem event started. No one is there now, the zone is empty.

I thought everyone went to Cyrodiil, but only Gray Host and Blackreach have any players in them. However, the queues for Gray Host aren’t that bad for a PvP event.

I hope everyone hadn’t given up on the new zone already.

It’s interesting you said that. I don’t think I have been back to the zone in any meaningful way for at least a week now.

Even the forums feel deserted… Ah well, it’s what the devs and players wanted, I guess.

I can solo the seekers but I had plenty of people joining in this weekend, and chat was still full of +nymic. On PC-EU. Then again, I only need three more for the achievement for the mount, I don't see myself doing them ever again once I'm done with that today. I guess more people are rounding up that achievement, and maybe have to focus on other parts for the mount.

ZOS needs to make two places where like 10 seekers spawn... one in apocrypha, one in the telvanni peninsula. At the same time ZOS needs to make these things more easily soloable, otherwise there is going to be a major issue with players wanting to kill them but being unable to because they get no help.

These solutions would help those who want to kill them, as they would always be at the same spot where everyone hunts them. And it would prevent players getting kicked out of other activities, because the seekers only spawn at a certain spot in each zone.

The thing is, if they do make them easier to solo they should the nymic's as well.
Cause like what's the point of making them easier while the nymics are the same.

Yes, you can stand right next to one and it won't aggo. BUT if someone else is attacking a seeker, that's when you can be tentacled. And the seeker being attacked can be quite far away, not even within your visual range.

Someone said they haven't had it happen since Mayhem started. That's probably because the zone is emptier and so not many seekers are being attacked.

Also, if the devs are listening please considering increasing their density in Apocrypha, it was a pain looking for seekers there compared to the main zone, they seemed a lot more scarce.

I had seen this thread but I had never looked at it until now, thanks to what happened to me yesterday in TP.
TY to everyone in this thread for putting me In The Know about Seekers. :)

I was on my Magplar farming and fishing on my way to get Sharp as a companion, and while fishing I got 1 shot by a Seeker.

Mind you, I haven't even begun to quest in the zone yet, but I have came across Seekers while acquiring Sharp as a companion on other toons and had assumed they were just like the rest of the mobs in zones... a normal mob (but I had never checked out their health until yesterday).
So I tend to steer clear of them and any other RED named mobs, other than the ones I HAVE to fight in order to get Sharp.

I was dumbfounded as to why and how a Seeker killed me when all I was doing was standing there fishing and I hadn't seen one close by.

I rezzed in place. Took a look around and came across a Seeker a bit of a ways away from me, and once I saw its health bar I put 2 and 2 together.

I can now only assume someone attacked it and got killed by it and then chose to rezz to the nearest wayshrine, because there was no one laying there dead or even in the area of the Seeker once I found it.

All I know is that I was minding my own business and I can't see nor understand how my fishing could have caused me to aggro it.

But yet, I managed to die a horrible death while fishing. :/

    Why is this even possible?????

i think the worst spot in telvanni penninsula is around ald isra wayshrine

(or best, if your actively looking for seekers)

there is one behind a rock not even 50 meters from the wayshrine, and 2 on the shoreline (one about 60-70 meters from the shrine and the other about 100-120 meters from the shrine)

you can actually aggro both of the ones on the shoreline at the same time because their paths almost touch

if your actually looking for seekers for the quest, its the easiest reliable place to get them and they respawn quickly, if your trying to mind your own business its terrible, definitely not a wayshrine you want to afk near right now

From my in-game experiments, touching them is considered an attack, whether you touch them or they touch you.

That is unlikely to happen at a dig site, but can happen elsewhere if in close proximity.

Although you can just go to the Telvanni zone. You don't need to kill the Seekers in the areas it tells you to, any Herald Seeker in either of the zones works. So I'm usually getting the Seekers in the Telvanni Peninsula even if my portal is in Apocrypha.

i think yesterday while i hunting seekers for the last couple nymics i needed to hit 30 completed, doing a short loop between the ald isra wayshrine and the town of ald isra, i counted at least 6-7 seekers in total

1 behind the rock next to wayshrine
at least 3 along the shoreline
at least another 2-3 on land just off the road back towards the wayshrine

its one of the most seeker dense locations i could find lol, most of the other locations only had a few sporadically near the shoreline and i rarely saw (the density was fairly low in apocrypha)
