I'd say it's not unreasonable to assume they weren't trying to reference the anime.

I say that because when I read the OP, my first thought was that they're an LSU fan and wanted to make Mike the Tiger, but they figured that would surely already be taken so they dropped the M and tried for Ike the Tiger (which would make it sound close/similar), then got the "name not allowed" message.

(For reference, Mike the Tiger is the official mascot of Louisiana State University's football team.)

I think Mike is pretty well retired to his personal mansion/exhibit these days which is probably better for him but it was cool back when he made more appearances. Oh and congrats on the the baseball title. (Here's to us both beating BAMA come fall - GBO)

Thanks, but my team actually finished second. I’m a Florida Gator, but am aware of my SEC brethren enough that “Ike the Tiger” made me think “Mike the Tiger” before anything else. LOL

I’ll be at the UT game in The Swamp this fall. I promise to cheer you on against Bama if we get to beat you first. LOL

D'oh. Sorry, I just assumed. I totally didn't mean anything by it. LSU sent my Vols home too. They were a machine this year. As for football.... I don't believe for one second Florida is going to be as bad as the media is claiming this coming season. I actually think people have judged Napier wayyyy too harshly. Playing in the Swamp is never fun for visitors. Florida has an insanely hard schedule this year but I expect that when the dust settles it will be the team that surprises people and exceeds expectations.

And thanks. I don't hold out much hope for beating BAMA on the road, especially since I expect they will hype it up as a revenge game, but I'll still be cheering.
