They are a sustained damage PvP build, that shines in No Proc and BGs.
Their charm can be blocked, their beam can be interrupted, they have zero mobility, and you can out run both the beam and the Utli.
It takes a minimum of 3 GCD"s to eat full a powered Beam, and that only works if you are stun locked.
Not really. But here's the post I'm taking about...

I've fought two Arcanists in Cyro today, both full leveled in CP camp. One was a Mag and the other a Stam. Did a 1v1 tower fight with the Stam on my PvE StamBlade and I managed to win though as you said, I had to burst. However the class as a Stun I'm not sure how it works, it reminds me of the Warden skill that "randomly" freezes you in proximity. Bit annoying. The Mage however was tanky, never was able to defeat that one, even with help.
In the end during that skirmish around BRK, the most annoying player there weren't the Arcanists, but the MagSorc.

Arcanist stun is very, very difficult to break out of. I don't know why, probably due to latency issues and trying to break free b4 the 1 second delay is up and the stun happens.
Well balanced class. Today, I calmly killed arcanists like others on my nightblade. Even strong players feel no better than other optimized classes. Each class has its annoying abilities, in the arcanist I did not see anything serious.
The only thing I don't like about the arcanist is his obsession with offensive abilities where he can absorb the crux. You have a choice of either tentacles or a book. Seriously? This seriously reduces class variability in offensive abilities. But as a support/tank, he is great for pve and pvp.

Lol bruh, 95% of the fights against NBs as an Arcanist, the Arcanist will not have Crux up nor will they be able to reliably generate Crux against NB.
NB currently have a strong advantage over Arcanist, simply because they can 100% deny Arcanist Crux generation, so the Arcanist are left with weak heals, weak damage, and weak defenses.
Arcanist have zero burst damage, meaning NBs can just disengage at any time.
Arcanist are a fun class to play, but they are not well balanced, as they are at significant disadvantage in PvP, for anything but duels, where you have to stand and fight them.
NBs are basically why the nerf to Crux's is such a bad change. You basically have to spend 2x the resources to heal after a NB gank attempt than any other class in the game.
