I would like to note, that jolt at least claims in the tooltip to not taunt if it would invoke taunt immunity, so it should not be possible to overtaunt with it... even if it is annoying for the tank.

Once I was able to do that I visited the shrine and took my skill points back from Runic Jolt
It's kinda odd to me that it they have it as one of the abilities that unlocks at fairly low levels.
Personally at low levels I reeeeeally don't want to draw the attention of the big bad, quite unhealthy for my squishy butt
I agree with you OP as I don't think it's intentional, I think some just aren't paying attention or don't know what it means.
For example in dragon fights I think I see a lot of that going on, several Arcanists on field and the dragon seems to be switching argo\targets a LOT more than normal. PPL running around like "WhY dRaGoN HaTeS mEh HALP!?!?!?"
Makes for interesting fights if nothing else

I just can't even bother with this one. I don't taunt ANYTHING for ANY REASON. I never play tanks. Leave taunts to the tanks....

Trying to understand your point. Are you saying that Arcanist shouldn't have a class taunt, or that people should be more educated in knowing what a taunt is?
As others have noted, putting the taunt high up on the skill list was a poor design, as it should be towards the last, if not the LAST skill that should be made available.
But I've also noticed a lot of players running dolmens using pull abilities, which is just annoying. It seems like they don't know that slotting a skill levels it, you don't actually have to USE the skill to level it.
Yeah, even with very experienced guild mates, the first few times we did rnds with our arcanists, I (an actual tank) had to ask them if they were using this ability and did they realise it was a taunt. That’s gonna be a nightmare in pugs.
The taunt info is kind buried in the tooltip too, I believe. People may not even read that far down and just see 'does damage, heals, applies debuff'. Which, to be fair, is rather nice as a spammable, even if the damage is lackluster. Some sort of more obvious marker would be nice so folks know its a taunt.
you could solve the issue in less time than it takes to post in here.
when you enter a dungeon and there is an arcanist in the group, just type "Arcanists please make sure you DO NOT use Runic Jolt or either of its morphs during dungeons" .. its that simple

Taunt Immunity is different than overriding taunt. Taunt Immunity is when you go back and forth 5+ times causing Immunity. I am saying if I have taunt on a boss for instance and someone is using Runic Jolt or it's morph, they are pulling taunt from me then dying by a boss hit then i am having to regain taunt and i wonder if it's because so many new Players are using the Arcanist and do not know what a taunt is because they never have had the ability before. Inner Fire, Puncture and Destructive Touch Taunts our not Class abilities. I do not know about the other Classes besides Templar.
That's all just seeing it more and more.
