I do not get this, why do we HAVE to buy a Steam version before we can use it there, i [snip] hate the launcher you guys made, i almost have all the games i play on Steam, it is easy...

The company even forced us to go Steam when Fallout 76 went there, because you wanted to get rid of the Launcher or what ever the reason was, and it was just moved to Steam, but for EsO hell and fart no, go spend €20 if you want a version there, thats OUTRAGEOUS, just a money grab NOTHING else.

There have been so many times i wanted to play EsO, but due to i have to either run the [snip] launcher you have, or spend more money on a base game to run it on Steam, well i just did not play, last time i played was 2021, and now i wanted to play again, but yeah just no [snip] way Im installing the Launcher, its so outdated, so bad... why not just let us (yeah i knew the moment i started typing, its about the €€€€) link to steam.

I cannot be the only one that want to play, but just refuses to buy a new version of the game, just so i can install it on Steam.

[snip]

    I did that same thing.

I first bought the game on steam but then later I didn't like the steam launcher as much and it was causing issues, then I Uninstalled steam, later went onto the elderscrolls website to buy the PC version, and then I can play the game without issues.

Steam is a 3rd party software that is part of a seperate company that isn't Square Enix. So that's why they charge seperatly for the steam version and normal version of elderscrolls online.

I found it cheaper to download and purchase the game from the official website then it is to purchase it again on steam.

@Manniala I made the transition to steam as soon as it was available a long long time ago when dinosaurs roamed the earth and am 100% happy that I did. That being said ESO is routinely on sale via Steam for $5 so I recommend waiting for a Steam sale and buy the game at that time to complete your transition.

Whats the advantage of using Steam to launch the game rather than the application? You only need the launcher to update the game? I really don't think it's that big of an issue to have to rage over.

I was "annoyed" when I learnt I'd have to buy the base game to use it natively through steam so instead I just launch the game through steam by pointing steam to the exe. for eso. Works fine for when I want to play the game on my phone using steamlink.

I start steam with the PC, i do NOT start the ESO launcher when windows start.

Lets say i have 1-2 hours where i do other stuff on the PC, Steam then just updates the game if there is a patch, if i then want to play i do not have to sit and wait for it to patch, it is already patched.

Where if its the launcher, and i have like 30 mins to play, once i start the launcher i then may get patch time, and i cut my game time because the game first have to patch now.

So with steam the game is almost always ready to play, since i start the computer when ever i'm home, i may then do other stuff in the house... and i know all games are updated before i even want to play/can play that day.

It's frequently on sale on steam for as little as £5. Just wait for a sale. In my experience there's no advantage to having it on steam, unless you just want steam to log your playtime. Clicking play on steam just opens the ESO launcher anyway.

Yeah it was on sale the other day, for €7, bought that one and the new DLC.

Yeah i notices that they start the damn launcher anyway, but at least the game is up 2 date, and if i do not have time to play one day, i can then use 1-2 mins on getting the daily login reward, and not have to wait 1 hour for a patch or some. (yeah i do not recall how long the patch are, or how fast it downloads :D)

It was the wait thing that i mainly do not like, when i have a little time to play, i do not then first have to sit and wait for a patch.
