Again, how? What‘s your proposed change that would make matches shorter? I‘m reading matches are too long yet I see no suggestions on how to make them shorter without butchering what ToT is about.
Making it 20 points rather than 40 would be one way. It would also be helpful if they did some fiddling so there weren't so many stall tactics available.

I forgot about that as I usually just play against expert. As you saw in the video, it still worked there (it's an Almalexia match). And yeah you honestly can just beat them that quickly too. Once you hit a certain point of knowledge, the NPCs become really easy.

for novice npc for reliable wins i usually like having hlaalu and rahjin in play, i use rahjin to stall and -prestige, and the novice npc will reliably spam hlaalu every time they buy any card
i usually win 90% of the games still, without using patron wins and match time is still on avg 12 minutes

I tried this for my 3 matches today. All 3 had pelin, crow, hlaalu, rajhin. I won all 3 despite every game not having access to rajhin cards basically the whole game to remove prestige.
So yeah this seems to work well. Thank you!!!
It's day 5 of no inkwood box though

The problem is, reducing Prestige directly benefits some decks (Orgnum, Pelin, Crow), while others are on the losing end because their mechanics are more complicated and less straight forward and need more time / rounds to unroll (Almalexia, Rhajiin, Eagle).
The main problem is the game can often take 20-40 mins when playing humans. They could tweak the decks for more balance if needed, but 20-40 mins being even a thing that can happen in what is essentially a mini game is nuts.

I have never had a 40 minute game nor is that a typical representation. 10-15 minutes is typical and a fair amount of time for something that is a competition against another human being. I can beat an NPC in like 5 minutes.
I don't know if you're just lucky or if they put us against players of similar experience, but I've had games last well over 30 mins multiple times. I've had to quit b/c i just didn't have anymore time left to keep playing what appeared to be an endless game. No one has ever conceded when I've played.

One thing is that I make my moves very quickly. I don't like long drawn out matches so I don't spend forever making decisions either. I'm thinking about what I want to do next during the opponent's turn, so once it's mine it's very quick execution. Other people tend to notice and also move quickly.
Very few matches have made it past 25 minutes and I've never had a 40 minute matches.
Pick rahjin against me and I’ll do my best to see the game go 40 min, every time. Between building entirely around draining prestige and dragging my feet every. single. turn.
People need to pay for picking that deck, and the price is their time.
Tribute would be more playable and accessible if it were shorter. These games can last over 20 minutes... that's asking way too much for a card game inside of another game. More people would be likely to play it if it were like a 5 minute thing we could do on our down time waiting for stuff in the game, but the games taking as long as they do make it just not worth it in any way. What are the chances of this happening?
Couple of suggestions.
1. Cap earlier turns with a much lower time limit than later.
2. Speed up the animations and *don't force the player to wait through them*. Not only does the player playing have to wait for the animation dealing with the other side's new cards to finish, but with some of the absurd chains in endgame the animations can actually prevent you from playing everything within the time limit because they take too long. In NPC tribute the playing of cards seems to have been slowed to a "natural" speed that is actually slower than most real players. It may feel a trifle but when the NPC is just going to hit Treasury at the start of the game it's annoying.
3. Make the black bar that appears at the start of every turn translucent so you can actually see what you're doing while you're waiting for it to fade away.
