Which is your favorite companion?

I'm looking forward to seeing less about stealing/crime on companion threads. With the release of Necrom the companions who approve of or don't care at all about stealing out-number those who do (4 to 2). Three of those companions do not care about murder either. There really will be no excuse if a player chooses to drag around one who does care.

Mirri - doesn't care about stealing.
Ember - enjoys stealing and doesn't care about murder.
Azander - doesn't care about stealing or murder.
Sharp - doesn't care about stealing or murder.

Thank you for the valuable input and respectfully recommend to discuss that aspect of ESO on the PVP forum.

    Miss Lydia.

On Topic; I like them all equally. Its situational.

Agreed, although I do feel twinges of guilt about abandoning Miss Lydia every time Mirri tells me she can't wait to take a load off at the inn  !

They generally have positives and negatives. For example, I love getting useful stuff (often furnishing designs) from Mirri's hidden treasure bags when opening chests, but I hate her intolerance of my catching insects for fishing. I use them all on different characters, and with some characters I don't use any.

Not only does Ember not care about murder, she's actually downright gleeful about killing things. It's a bit off-putting IMO.

I think the gleeful reactions are her combat shouts because she has no built in reaction to murder - so you get these weirdly excited remarks as you kill innocents. It doesn't really suit the character they built for her in her quests. She's a street-kid not a psychopath. High Isle companion lines are all over the place where morality is concerned.

    EMBER:

"Don't mess with a street-kid!" "Do you want to die?!?" "My magic will destroy you!"

    After murdering something...

"That was fun." "It's good to get the blood pumping."

    Yikes.

You forgot "<Scared childlike voice> Is-is it over?"

Neither of these fit well how she is portrayed in the quests. As Treselegant said, the High Isle's companions' lines are all over the place.

It is almost like the people writing the quest and the people writing the day-to-day dialog never talked to each other.

Actually... I wonder whether the people writing Ember's quest were even familiar with ESO at the time they wrote it. I did the entire Vvardenfell zone with Ember, including interacting with the slaves in Sadrith Mora, before her rapport was high enough to start the quest. Needless to say, the Ember during the quest line was quite out of character for those quests. I dunno. Maybe ChatGPT wrote those quests. Anyway, she is back to normal, now.

Every time I hear Mirri's line about "glad I don't have to carry it" I wonder if it's a reference to Lydia and her "I'm sworn to carry your burden" line.

I like Ember because for the most part I want a companion that increases the damage output and she has good damage focused skills and passives (and she doesn't care if I kill bugs or steal stuff).

I like Isobel's personality the best.

    I can't decide!
i use whichever one helps me in the current situation

if i need a tank, i use a tank companion, etc

right now i have ember and mirri set up as dps, isobel as tank, and bastian as healer

i personally do not like bastion so ill probably make one of the new companions a healer and one of the new companions a tank so i can have options (2 dps, 2 healer, 2 tank)
    plays PC/NA
    handle @Necrotech_Master
    active player since april 2014

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

    I don't use companions
If I am soloing something, I tend to prefer to have everything trying to eat my face on a predictable manner. A mob running away to eat my companion's face is a mob I am not cleaving through, and a mob that stays behind beating on a companion is a mob that I am not going to group and nuke efficiently with line-of-sight.
So, I do not use companions, and I do not have a favorite.

And no, this is not a commentary on anyone using companions, you go through your game whichever way entertains you the most. It is a neat system, it just happens to not suit me.

My main character is real tank, so I don't need "fake tank Isobel".
Ember is the best partner as DPS and nice charming walking cat for me.

I don't need other companion anymore.

Mirri's accent is adorable, her remarks, especially when I steal, are either pleasant or funny and I pretty much cut her some slack on that possibly passive-aggressive comment she says after we finish a fight. She's a scholar who, like me, is fascinated by Dwemer and Clockwork stuff and she loves a good book. Her comments when I'm harvesting aren't annoying, so no "magicky" or "this is a great area for harvesting", though I nearly always roll my eyes when she exclaims "you don't come by those too often" after I find the 10th rekuta of the day.

I like Bastian, but I prefer to leave him at home, such as shown below:
