It's not really about zos or chapter, which theme is aimed on me this time around. Some countries aren't able to make a purchase at all even if we're willing to, so it's not even a decision lol. But this one have way more appeal than any since Elsweyr, both theme and content wise.

I feel really quite upset by this, but for the first time I haven't pre-ordered a chapter. I know I'll feel I'm missing out, but after the paucity of content in recent chapters (and storylines that I found blatantly obvious), coupled with the overall reduction in content for this chapter, I will sit it out, and either buy it when it's on sale or possibly wait until next year's chapter.

I'm not interested in a new class, I'm not interested in companions, and I doubt that the reduced questline for this chapter will be worth the cost.

And the more I think about it the more I am convinced that I'm being manipulated (in the nicest way). No, I don't "need" the latest motifs, recipes, furniture. No, I don't "need" to catch all the fish as quickly as possible. And I really don't need to spend a couple of hours exploring a new zone only to be disappointed at how little content there is. I can do without being pushed into buying an update I don't want just because of the fear of missing out.

What I really want to do is progress with my main, and I can do that without this chapter. I doubt that I'm the only one to think this way, which is a real problem for ZoS.

I'm not buying it yet. I will definitely get it at some point, likely during a sale later this year, but not when it first comes out.

There's two reasons for that, which are kind of related. The main one is that I'm way behind on completing stuff on my main character so I don't need more zones and story yet and don't have time for all the characters I have so I don't want to make an arcanist right away (but will do eventually). The other one is that I'm even busier than usual with stuff outside of ESO and that's likely to be the case for at least a few months so it's dropped down my priority list for stuff to buy.

It's not the first time that's happened and it probably won't be the last. I'm very much a casual player but sometimes there's something in an expansion I know I want right away, or I want to get the pre-order items and they're worth paying extra for. Other times I wait and get it cheaper later on.

First time not pre-ordering... And I've bought every kind of account upgrade and dlc.

I'm trying to send a message that ZoS need to do more to excite long term fans of the IP. The necrom zone looks good, but it has the same checklist of content. The story seems like the usual combination of a previous Elder scrolls release, reduced to an MMO cartoon of bad magic users endangering the world unless stopped through a linear series of small fights. The arcanist class is interesting, but locking a class into the service of a daedric prince feels at odds with the IP.

I may get Necrom eventually, but I need ZoS to do better in future releases. They have an amazing world to explore, but they have locked themselves into a formula that has gone stale. They need to stand back and look at what could be done, instead of doing the same thing every year. The community is not short of ideas, and the best storylines from single player games are a great source of inspiration. As an example, I feel the guild storylines from launch or 7 years ago are neglected, when they could have a presence in almost every zone.

ZOS is getting no more money from me, if they want to give me my old account back then I'll happily buy all the stuff I missed in the last 2 years

I got no need for a pay 2 win class only to be gutted a month later

Please explain this. There's clearly more to be said, if you are safe to say it.

I preordered Skyrim, Blackwood, and High Isle. Came back eager for the expansion so I farmed the Oakensoul HA Build from scratch. A week later they announce nerfs. Immediately lost interest and mostly returned to FFXIV.

I let the preorder window for extra items lapse and still have not ordered. I considered ordering to support the Sharp quest but then they changed it in ways I didn’t love.

Only other temptation for me was the new Amulet but they were kind enough to gut that in advance of release.

Will wait for a sale if I get it at all. Diablo 3, Baldurs Gate 3, and all the other games coming this year will keep me busy anyway.

Looks real boring but ill get it for the new tables for my crafting house

You can't get the new tables without it?

No. The 3 new crafting tables are only available if you buy the new chapter. :)

If you are in a decent guild, at least one person in the guild will be able to purchase the new crafting tables and everyone in the guild will be able to use the tables in the guild house.

Although, I'm not seeing much reason for guilds to revamp all their guild tables if they're already set up. It will be cost prohibitive at this point with so many tables and it could create traffic jams at the tables for the guilds with 500 members. I don't know how it's going to work out, but we're about to find out.

My wife and I are not pre-ordering it, as the game has too many bugs and too many times where it is borderline unplayable due to server issues and lag. We also don't feel comfortable giving up any more of our hard-earned money on something that isn't as engaging as it used to be, and for which the quality, we feel, has declined.

We have many other chapters and stories to complete, and would like to finish what we have before investing into something new. We are also at the point of leaving ESO+ out of our entertainment budget this year, though that may change.

Overall, the chapter itself is bland and feels like a rehash of the Dragonborn DLC with some Telvanni added in for flavor as opposed to Necrom centric, which is what the name would have you believe. It could have been called Apocrypha and been far more upfront about what is actually going on.

Eventually, we will probably buy it, maybe down the line when the next chapter comes out and it goes on sale for 75% off. But until then we are fine to continue playing what we have, knowing that the FOMO will be counter balanced by the eventual overtuned nerfs.

Interesting view, but that could easily be solved by creating 2x4 or 3x4 tables. The point that I see guild leaders get excited about is the reduction in house items that can now be spent on atmosphere.

It will likely only be about 2 months after Necrom goes live that it goes on sale. So your reasoning is sound.

I pre-purchased for a change this time because I wanted to start mount training on the new class right away, but on any expansion that doesn't have a new class I also wait for the sale price since it comes so soon after going live.

From what I've seen so far story-wise, I'm just not super excited about this being another one-off adventure, once again not advancing the overall plot of the three aliance war/interregnum. ESO feels very stagnating.

From what was said about this year's chapter situation, they're going back to a multi-year setup like the Daedric War arc.

    Spoilers for Upcoming Chapter:

It does not significantly advance content regarding the war. However, the story definitely is not a one off that is completed and it may have a significant lore impact overall.

I purchased it through a key site, was cheaper and still got all the usual pre-order rewards and as far as I am aware that's none of my money gone to ZoS.

All the recent changes have just taken the mickey lately. Plaguebreak is 'overperforming' so they outright disable it in PvE instead of tweaking it, the 100m Detect Pot change that no one has a clue if it's an accident or deliberate, the state of PvP as well. I'm still going to enjoy the stuff I like, while 'voting with my wallet' as some would say and making sure I am not giving ZoS any more money

I did the same, like I did with High Isle. I think ZOS still gets money, which is okay with me. I do want to support the game.

Since I mainly play to quest/explore, getting the expansion was a no-brainer.

I'm undecided. Well, I'll surely buy it at some point, but not necessarily right away at full price.

The Arcanist class gives me motion sickness, so I'm not planning to make any characters in that.
I have all the companions I need.
I have mulltiple chapters where I haven't done the story yet.

    So what's the rush?

LOL. Pay 2 win? No. As of right now it’s middle of the pack for damage, healing is probably down towards the bottom maybe and tanking it’s high up but that’s about it. I would choose Warden, DK and Sorc over this class hands down.

I get it though. I wish new classes would just hit the ground at a B tier all around at least, not OP but not garbage… just viable and fun. Week 5 patch notes is tomorrow tho

    no.

    - U35 nerfs not yet reverted.
    - - They broke the promise to explain the concept behind the nerfs (the failed FAQ)
    - Templar animations/damage either
    - Ligthning staves now depend on empower, no longer they are core weapons, but a niche set (this does not change just cause they are populular in HA builds)
    - won't replace Ember with a male companion
    - rarely visit Vvardenfell, so the copy-version will not interest me either
    - I found Apocrypha "claustrophobic" in Skyrim already, so not interested in an ESO version either
    - I play 72 characters, many broken builds since U35, so not very interested in adding another one that just will be broken again sooner or later

The website/key seller would certainly get a cut of the sale, but ZOS will be paid too. A key seller isn't any different than Steam in that regard. Steam takes a cut. It doesn't get the entire pie.
