Daily reward system is garbage

To comment on one thing the OP said, when they initually instituted the daily login rewards there were only 28(?) days each month with rewards, but a lot of players asked them to increase it to an entire month of rewards.

I don't miss many rewards. I'm retired, so I can (and do) log in every day. On 3 accounts, both PC NA and EU....

Problem is, the rewards aren't.... generally.... stuff I want or need. That's the problem with having played for lo these many years now. Then again, I log in every day anyway, so... what boots it?

Exactly... so they added some currencies in the last few days... and people still are upset.

At first I wanted to hate on the idea of being able to buy a missing day, aka monetize your own personal time/effort....then I remembered ZOS already did this by selling event tickets. So...I don't think ethically I can object to that point. I do think that being disgruntled over missing out on a freebie is one thing, and calling it garbage is another. I think you're being extreme, this isn't like a free hat or t-shirt....3k telvar is more like a free fridge magnet.

My previous mmo of choice had a fixed list of daily rewards. Every player got to pick trough it at their own pace with no change to miss any. There was separate rewards given to players logging in during events, missable but one only had to log in once per event for that.

The only change I would like on daily login would be an extra and good reward for those who fill all the rewards of the month

That certainly would create some delicious tears every time a maintenance takes unexpected turn.

GW2? That's login rewards over there, but their version of "Endeavours" offers a substantial (for new players) daily gold reward in a system where ingame money is actually valuable and can gain you BiS gear. Since gold can also be exchanged to cash shop currency and back, we can give it a value: You can earn about $0.10 each day when you don't just log in but actually play (i.e. do your chores) for an hour. :p

Why do they "reward" us for playing? It makes us content for other players, and stops us from trying other games.

If the unique reward/s can only be collected on one specific day I think a lot more people would miss them.
That's exactly how the current system works. The good reward(s) is still only available on 1 particular day, and if you miss collecting it, tough luck. But with the current system, if you miss a reward, you get further penalised for it by having an end-of-month reward also made unavailable. This is unfair.

Huh? That is not how it works. The reward for 3rd day of month is available the 3rd day you log in during the month. Log in on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd? You got the first 3 rewards shown. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th? You got the first 3 rewards shown. The 5th, 10th, and 15th? You got the first 3 rewards shown.

The "good" reward on the 20th can be available on many days. If you log in on the 1st through 19th, that "good" reward will be waiting on the 20th. Don't get to log in that day? It will still be waiting on the 21st. Don't get to log in that day? It will still be waiting on the 22st. And so on.
Sorry, my mistake. I normally collect all the rewards (with occasional exceptions) and hadn't noticed this behaviour.

Still, it only underlines my previous point: that we should be able to login on any day of the month and receive the reward for that day. This would make it so easy for people to get the rewards they want: they just need to login on the right day. I know ZOS probably have the current system for monetary reasons, but that doesn't make it a good system.

I think the responses are correct, but are overlooking something. The OP is specifically upset about missing out on 3k Tel Var Stones. The reason I think that's particularly pertinent is because to a lot of players that's a more or less trivial amount which many players could easily farm several times over in the span of an hour. Getting that upset over a "mere" 3k Tel Var suggests to me that the OP is someone to whom that is actually a good bit of Tel Var-- a fairly new player, perhaps, or someone who is generally unable (due to character level, build, etc.) to successfully farm Tel Var in IC without being constantly ganked to the point of bitter frustration.

My advice would be to try to group up with some other players in your alliance and try to farm some Tel Var together, either in the IC districts or in the IC sewers. There's safety in numbers, and it shouldn't take very long before you make a lot more than 3k Tel Var. Just remember to bank it afterward!

. If it is easy for you, awesome, but don't assume that is the case for everyone.

Go to IC, do some quests, grind some mobs.

It's really not difficult at all outside of the events when IC is empty.

But then what happens if you can't log in on that particular day? What if there's maintenance during the only time you can log on? You then miss out all together.

The point of the current system is that if you log in more, you can work up to a Big Prize (typically the third week/21st day, with a Medium Prize on 14th day). If you could just log in on the 21st to get the Big Prize, that would defeat the entire point of it. And there'd be no reason to even have any kind of 'better' prize at all, every day would need to be roughly-similar filler.

edit: and I suppose it is indirectly for "monetary" reasons - they want to encourage people to keep logging in.

The daily login rewards are a joke. Go kill a boss in IC and there's your tel var.
