im sure i already know the answer to this (and not the one i want to hear)

...but are the companion unlocks still per character for the new companions?

and if so, how "painfully long" are the unlock quests so i can prepare myself for spending a couple of days grinding this out?

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

Pretty sure the unlocks are still character specific.

As for the time required, they said in the patch notes, "Significantly reduced the amount of rapport needed to reach the Friendly, Close, Allied, and Companion rapport tiers for all companions."

Just how "significantly" it is reduced, you guess is as good as mine.

i was asking more how long it takes to run the unlock quest, because i like having access to all the companions on all of my characters

so if the unlocks are still per character, i have to run that dumb intro quest 10 times

...then i plan on making an arcanist, which means ill have to run SIX companion unlock quests for that

they really need to stop with this need to run the quest to unlock the companions on every character, its starting to get out of hand

right now im looking at 20 quests to just unlock the new companions, then 6 more quests on a new arcanist toon to unlock both the new and old companions

so the "time to complete" unlock quest is very relevant to me

edit: overcounted the number of companions we have lol

The unlocks are character specific. I can't really say how long the unlock quests are as I haven't finished Azandar's yet, but I feel like I was able to speedrun Sharp-As-Night's on my second character in 10 or 15 minutes.

At the very least, leveling them should be easier, as it's allegedly significantly less rapport to each level and each level of rapport increases their XP gain with that character.

the funny thing is ive never been concerned about rapport or leveling

it takes me like a few days of nDSA farming to max level a companion from 1, and i only do rapport on my main to finish the achievements/keepsake

for example with ember and isobel, it took me less than a week after release to hit lvl 20 on both of them

Sharp's unlock quest does take you into a public dungeon, so your experience of that section will vary depending on if others have already cleared it out or not - or I guess if you're a vampire with invisible sprint, etc. Could be slow on a low level alt.

thats what i saw in the other thread, and was really hoping that this wont be worse than isobels, which is already like 20 min on the speed run due to the number of steps and running around

going through a public dungeon isnt too bad, if its far in i will ignore mobs and run to the objectives (or stealth there if its my stealth toon)
