PTS Update 38 - Feedback Thread for Collectible Favorites

This is the official feedback thread for the new Collectible Favorites functionality. Specific feedback that the team is looking for includes the following:

• Were you able to easily favorite some collectibles?
• Did the Random Favorite Mount and/or Random Mount options behave the way you expected?
• Did you use keyboard or gamepad UI?
• Do you have any other general feedback?

I was watching a streamer show off this new feature. This is an amazing QOL improvement but sadly it's account wide. I would love for it to be per Character so I could use guar mounts on my argonian and bear mounts on my orc randomly. Please make the favorites per Character.

When I first heard about this feature I was so excited to set up configurations to meet the themes of my various characters. As an example, being able to use my various wolf mounts on one character to randomly pop up and my various constructs on another character was what I was really hoping for.

+1 for this should be character specific. Or at least give us a "Favorite for all characters"/"Favorite for this character only" option.

If it's strictly account wide, I can't see myself ever using it. I know that for many people, all of their toons are just different facets of themselves; but for others of us, we still like to have each of our characters with a different personality.

I agree it should be made character-based, and not account-wide. It’s better to personalize favorites for a specific character rather than shared across different characters with different tastes/personalities/esthetics etc.

If it’s based on different characters I’ll have fun setting it up on all mine, but if it’s account-wide I doubt I’ll ever touch it.

I am excited about this addition to the base game however, it still seams to be lacking a little compared to my addon "IsJusta Favorite Collectibles".

Subcategories for Favorites for mounts, non-combat pets, and housing, that is placed at the top of their parent categories
Favorites for furnishing collectibles
a feature I added but not yet posted, the ability to use per character or account with the ability to clone from another character.

"IsJusta Collectible Randomizer" has a random mount feature and, in conjunction with "IsJusta Favorite Collectibles" will use only ones marked as favorite. A feature I am happy to see added to the base game.
It also adds a randomizer, a fake collectible with the random die icon that activates a collectible by random in the current category, to several categories. It also has a keybind to enable/disable the random mount to allow using a specific mount on command.

I'm already planning on making changes for integration. As well as possibly using saved variables for overflow favorites beyond the 100 and, possibly for per-character.

Yeah, i have to agree with the other people here.
I have a random mount addon and I was excited for this. But making it account wide means I can’t tailor it RP wise for my characters.

So pass for me, I will keep my add-on. Thanks for trying though.

Going on record that the base game implementation of the functionality from IsJusta Favorite Collectibles addon is near identical. Seeing this ported for universal access to PC and console would be a fantastic QoL for all players. And props to IsJustaGhost for her addons, upon which this new functionality appears to be built. You do clean, crisp UI work, Ghostie.

However, as to the base game implementation, I concur with IsJustaGhost and others on several design points.

a. The "Favorites" folder mechanic: Having a master "Favorites" category is helpful for the overall ability to "find" and review your favorites at a glance, vs digging into the subcategories and finding the favorites in each subcat (the concept: I want to find all my favorite mounts, at a glance). The use of the Favorites folder to track this is crucial to this QoL approach.
b. Character-defined vs account-defined: This is a huge fault in the approach. Why would I specify favorites? Because they fit a want, or a theme. These are typically (but not always) design-originated to the toon in particular. Applying this on a character-level basis would be the proper implementation.

Thank you for your inclusion of this QoL concept, and I hope you can use IsJustaGhost's addon as a model for how best to polish it for wider use.

PS: If you haven't seen Ghost's addons yet, please take the time to try them out on Live! Ghost did a bang up job translating what started as a simple "can u gimme favorite mounts plx" to a UI-blended key feature that I personally can't manage my toons' features without.

Why is Use Random Favorite Mount not available to companions?
Can't even force it to work. It's just not will not work for GAMEPLAY_ACTOR_CATEGORY_COMPANION. I forced it in the list and it only uses last used mount.

As only account-wide option it's just pointless for everyone who have more than one character.

I managed to get the Favorited subcategories back in there for Mounts, non-combat pets, and housing.

After I get the categories, sort, and refresh fixed for keyboard and gamepad mode, I'll start working on a per-character favorites.
