Account Wide Armory and Outfit Slots

Old post but I was thinking about this today. If LOTRO can afford account wide cosmetic unlocks (it does) then ESO should be able to afford it. So why?

Right now the cosmetic slot system being character bound makes the cosmetic system in ESO worse than WoW, SWOTR, and GW2 -- and in GW2 you have to pay to transmog stuff and yet its still better than the ESO system. I'm sure there's games I haven't played that also have better outfit systems.

This is partly why I don't play much any more. As someone who is both an altaholic and loves cosmetics it's prohibitively expensive to buy cosmetic slots for all my alts in this game-- so I don't. I feel I can never express myself beyond one outfit because I'm not going to spend 15 real life dollars on a character I might delete in future.

If they had account wide cosmetic unlocks it would make the game so much better for people who love cosmetics. You could do outfit a day stuff for all your characters, you could experiment with looks more, you could delete your character without worrying you're going to lose a cosmetic slot, etc.

It would make a 'ok' feature amazing and I would pay good money to have it. [snip]

I’ve grudgingly bought a few characters outfit slots over the years but it’s always made me mad that my purchase was not account wide and it’s taken pulling teeth for me to buy the few that I have. I would happily buy account wide outfit slots for the same price because I would feel like I’m getting a much greater benefit.

And I wouldn’t even care if they just made the change going forward, I would not expect a refund of the ones I’ve bought, I would just be happy that going forward I would have the benefit of being able to purchase account wide slots.

I clicked No, because if they were account wide I would have purchsed less than I already have. So by default I would be less inclined.

With the one poster above that mentioned WoW I would respectfully argue that the outfit system in ESO is much better than the one in WoW, but with everything else in that post, I totally agree.

In WoW it costs an arm and a leg to fix an outfit every single time you upgrade a piece of equipment because the cosmetic is tied to a specific piece of equipment, not into an outfit. And you can only have one outfit at a time because if you want another one, you have to transmog every piece of equipment into the new outfit thus losing the old one, a prohibitive expense. It’s actually the single thing that keeps me from playing WoW.

If I could save an outfit in WoW and it not change just because I get a new set of gloves or other equipment, and if we could switch between multiple outfits for free, I would actually play WoW some.

    Greetings,

We have closed this topic as it was originally created in April 2023. In many cases, it's better to create a new thread on a topic that you want to discuss as opposed to bumping one that is rather old.

    Thank you for your understanding.
