    Greetings,

We take reports of harassment, hate speech, and inappropriate behavior very seriously and ask that you report any incident by following these steps:

    Console: https://beth.games/37FlKIj
    PC: https://beth.games/3mywhge

or by submitting a support ticket here: https://beth.games/35YipWS

Although we cannot share what actions we administer due to privacy, we do keep track of all reports submitted.

I understand perfectly what you're trying to say, but that alone doesn't account for everything that's happening in the game.

The truth is, players who use HA-based builds are simply being humiliated and sidelined. In fact, these players are undoubtedly excluded from HM groups. While I understand that Zenimax takes reports seriously, the end result and everything that happens within the game is always the same. Players are being expelled simply because they use items like Oakensoul. They are not excluded because they deal less damage, die more often, or don't know the mechanics. They are excluded because they use a particular type of build: HA! And as a reward, Zenimax nerfed the build.
Sorry, but i keep my point: "However, the best Zenimax has done to date is a minor nerf to the HA build. This isn't enough as now players not only face humiliation but also do less damage."

so is all this heated discussion around 1bha builds centered around hmode/trial/vet type dungeons or are normal dungeons also included? i ask because i've never been kicked from a pug (i don't do hmode/trial/vet), let alone kicked because of my build. i also don't understand all the emotion i'm seeing peeps invest in this.

You've had nature explained to you and you're bored with it, you've had the living body explained to you and you're bored with it, you've had the universe explained to you and you're bored with it, so now you want cheap thrills and, like, plenty of them....

Okay...but you aren't doing the one thing that you can do about it: reporting players for bullying you because you're using a heavy attack build.

If you don't report, Support isn't combing through chats proactively warning people because that would be a waste of their time.

If you do report, then even if you personally never see the result, your report builds a paper trail and might make a difference for the next player who reports.

And it only takes one player coming to the forums or reddit saying "I got banned for bullying someone for their HA build" to get the message rolling that ZOS won't let it slide, you know? Prior to ZOS saying that teabagging wasn't allowed, we pointed to reports from players who said they'd been banned for it as evidence that it wasn't a good idea.

That's why you report even when you think it won't change anything.

But if you don't report, then I don't know what you're asking ZOS to do for you. Buff your build to spite the haters?

In the game, there are different types of content, but for normal content, you can use any weapon and it's not necessary to have specific builds or equipment.
However, for harder content like HM/vDungeons/vTrials, it becomes more important to have the right gear and builds. Unfortunately, some players are being unfairly judged based on their choices, like being kicked out of groups for using HA builds or having certain gear like Oakensoul.
This is a problem because it leads to people feeling humiliated and excluded, even if they are capable of completing the content.

My friend was recently excluded from Cloudrest. He was kicked out by the group leader only because he was using HA (2bars), and the leader mistakenly thought he was using Oakensoul. The group leader told my friend that he couldn't switch between bars bars while using Oakensoul. This situation is really sad because my friend was unfairly judged and excluded from the activity, even though he had the skills and ability to complete it.

I dunno about others, but I once had a DD get all gripy in group chat that the healer was wearing Combat Physician in a normal dungeon. And we were not having any problems up to that point. I remember it clearly because it was such a ridiculous complaint. A healer having the nerve to wear Combat Physician!

Some people just get real weird about other people's gear.

The best way I've seen to deal with it in this or my other MMO is when one of the more experienced players on the team steps up and says something like "it's no big deal" or "my dude, you chose to queue up with randoms."

Sounds like communication snafu, because Cloudrest is one of the few places where Oakensoul is a detriment on one of the boss mechanics.

As of Scribes of Fate, Voltaic Current no longer functions differently for players with a second weapon bar unlocked, and are in Werewolf form or have the Oakensoul item equipped.

I wasn't there to know why the group leader wouldn't listen to your friend who I assume explained that he wasn't using Oakensoul and thus could've cleared the mechanic properly. But ironically, Cloudrest actually IS a legitimate situation where a group leader might not want players using Oakensoul.

Queuing up with random players can be a big problem. But this behavior happen in many resort to platforms like Discord. On these platforms, players must disclose their damage output, the dungeons they have completed, and provide screenshots of their equipment, particularly tanks and healers. In Discord groups, it is almost certain that so many players are not allowed to join high-level content. It's disappointing that players are excluded in-game and even outside of the game. I believe that Zenimax should not tolerate this behavior from any players on their servers. It's unacceptable to allow this type of behavior to persist.

Just my 2 cents it's all about having fun and what you want to do. I have Oakensoul on one character and while I do miss some of the abilities I had on the back bar I'm able to take down most stuff pretty quickly.

Ironically my favorite Mythic is the Ring of the Wild Hunt, even though it provides little in the way of combat utility since all it does is increase your movement speed, I like to go fast, even indoors so I use it more than anything else. I mean unless you're doing highly competitive meta content then do what you want and forget about the meta since that changes every 5 minutes it seems.

Sounds like you're talking about something different than I was. I was talking about random players griping at each other for wearing reasonable gear choices, not organized groups getting to pick and choose who they run with.

I don't fundamentally have a problem with guilds and groups picking who to run with based on their damage output, their experience, and their builds. Neither does ZOS, because you won't see ZOS stepping in to dictate that guilds must bring a quota of Necros, StamSorcs, and Werewolves, etc. The Devs generally try to encourage underused setups by buffing them (which HA&Oaken builds are not underused right now.)

Requirements Ike damage output, experience, and specific builds aren't exclusionary just for the purpose of keeping people out of high-level content. It's a mistake to think that.

Rather, most of the time it's there to help select a team of players who're all on the same wavelength about how to play. When you spend hours progging towards a goal, you want teammates who're willing to wear the sets the team needs, who're going to fill their role as best they can, and who'll respect everyone else's time and effort. If someone won't work together on something as basic as the group composition, it's gonna be a nightmare by the time they start working on passing mechanics. Plus, that's not really fair to the group members who are all pulling together, right?

And if the group isn't on the same wavelength as you, re: Oakensoul and HA builds, then that's probably a good sign that the neither of you are a good fit for each other. If neither of you are happy, why force it?

Seems to me like a better solution would be finding
(or making) a group where you are on the same wavelength.

I used to believe that, but the way Oakensoul was discussed change my P.O.V.

For a not insignificant portion of the player base, it is about keeping people out of high-level content.
