What do you think about the revealed Arcanist Skills?

From what I gather you really need to use Arcanist skills, and in a specific order, to get the most out of the class and that might limit build variety. Not sure if I like that.

At least they've made sure it would be a Elsweyr patch necro level desirable in group compositions. Some things seems more new than rehashed, that's also a good sign overall.

Gonna be really overloaded in PvP just by looking at the buffs it has access to.

A lot of that looks really broken on paper.

    A few standouts are:
    - the 10% shield strength and cost passive
    - Abyssal impact, 5% more damage to a target...
    - Increased spell and weapon damage when gaining resources?
    - Pen for skills slotted. Arcanists might be able to fully pen players in PVP without much effort.
    - Minor breach skill to enemies attacking you
    - Minor protection, minor resolve for allies, and a safety heal in one skill.

    It's worse than that...

Gain crux and proc 2 passives: Fated Fortune increases critical damage, Hideous Clarity regains mag/stam.

Regaining mag/stam procs Harnessed Quintessence, which increases weapon/spell power.

Spamming Runeblades will generate crux, and so:

    - Increase critical damage
    - Regain mag/stam
    - Increase weapon/spell power

while also giving either a splash effect or increased crit for the morphs.

And increasing the damage for the majority of subsequent skills you use because of the crux you generate.

Not to mention Rune of Uncanny Adoration Skill gives Minor Vulnerability and Minor Brittle and it can't be dodged. Fossilize on crack.

The new mythic that increases penetration, damage and critical damage seems like it will pair very powerfully with the Arcanist approach you're eluding to ie: 3x spammable to build crux-->use tentacle ability to debuff mob and up your own damage-->3x spammable to build crux--->beam the ever loving crap out of things.
This will also open up sets other than pillar or nirn, relequin since you probably don't want to use sets that give light attack stacks. I actually think MORE varieties will be opened up.

Never wanted a new class in the first place, but I'm a bit disappointed that with the magic beam being the main skill, there doesn't seem to be a proper stamina build option.

the herald of the tome ult is imo kinda disappointing thematically. It seems to just be fatecarver with extra steps. Was hoping for anything other than a summon like the necromancer damage skill line ult.

Not saying it doesn't look powerful or cool I just personally would've liked to see something else. Like a transformation ult for damage dealing.

Personally glad there is no pet in this one. Last two classes had pets, so it's nice to have a new class that doesn't.

Tome-Bearer's Inspiration is wrong by the way, or rather it's missing one important bit in that skill line showcase. "while slotted on either ability bar, gain major brutality an-..."
So unlike other skills like it, you only need to slot it on one bar. I'd love to see the mechanic on other classes.

Magic Damage as the main damage type is great! I can pull out War Maiden's again. Too bad it has a lot of cold damage as well, sometimes paired with magic damage which really kills the synergy. Not enough cold damage for Frostbite, but enough to make war maiden's not quite as good as it could be, but still worth testing.

On Paper, Definitely looks like some things will be OP.
But, the green color and unique look to the skills is aesthetically pleasing to me.
Kinda glad I'm gonna make mag, cause stam seems a little less of an option with this class

Not sure they designed Arcanist for PvP because players will just circle strafe behind your channel attack and bash it. Maybe it'll work if you can stay at range but there's way too many gap closers. If the damage is off the charts then maybe 1 or 2 ticks will be a strong execute. Otherwise it's basically a huge green beam that is "bash on sight".

There is actually a list out of all the morphs and NO major breach in any of them.

The healing and tanking skill lines looks like ZOS took the feedback from Templar threads in the PTS forum (about lacking group utility/buffs) and pumped everything the class needs into Arcanist instead. I'm also not happy about Arcanist getting passive buffs that improve healing, shields and damage sourced from any out of class skill line, while older classes are stuck with dated passives that boost only in-class skills or only one skill line. Updates to class passives were requested years before this new class was announced.

I see a ground dot, and some spammable option(s)?, and a whole lot of stuff made irrelevant by Oakensoul. <Insert blanket-every-other-dps rotation here>

Curious why a whole skill is dedicated to taunting though like we dont already have inner fire that can be slotted to any weapon and provides a synergy to team mates or Puncture which has major breach. *shrugs*

The necromancer has no damage. Worst class in 1v1 combat. Worst class that provides healing to allies and ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT GIVE ANY ALLIES Buffs. I'm shocked by what they gave the arcanists. The developers don't seem to care about the balance and they decided to roll out everything that comes into their head and they didn't care about a year of complaints.

Yeeeaaa, why learn to play when you can just buy an absurdly overpowered class...

I mean, i really didn't have any expectations, since everytime a new class has been introduced, it has been ridiculously OP at the start to boost the sales.

It'll be nerfed when next chapter is available.

So, gonna level me a arcanist, slot some mara's balm, oakensoul and other broken sets and just yawn myself to death.

    4. Cyrodiil-Refugee stamblade - Stamina Tank / PvE

After watching the stream class showcase I think the class looks really cool but I just really really can't get past it being a class and not a skill line or two or even three.

Looks like I can headcanon a spellsword character out of it with a lot of its skills though. I was just REALLYYYYYYYYYYYY hoping that the tentacle arm would be easy to forgo but it doesn't just give a strong damage buff like major vuln that I could work around getting somewhere else, it gives a unique % damage buff...

Minor brittle being a part of the class also seems really weird and something that warden should have, if any class would have it.

Seems really overpowered in debuff/buffs/dps of supports like it will shake up what the go-to trial configuration will be and increase in-content damage ceilings, which I find insulting since everyone got nerfed already because damage was too high…

This has happened so many times before, too.

They nerf players, it happened with Murkmire, it happened with Dragonhold, it happened with Update 35... then immediately release new OP sets that are behind a paywall so players can feel like they can compete again only for those same OP sets to get nerfed a patch or two later.

They did it with Lokkestiiz/Necromancer, they did it with Thrassian Stranglers, they did it with Diamond's Victory, it happened with Harpooner's Wading Kilt to some degree (with the capping of the critical damage modifier...) it happened in a way already to Oakensoul, etc...

I'm not entirely sold on the Aesthetic, but I know that portion of the class is less important to most people compared to target dummy numbers.

The spammable looks like its throwing tiny coins at the target with no impact whatsover.

I'll need to watch some people on the PTS next week to really get good looks at all of the skills and animations and such.

So once again, they have decided to deny magicka builds a execute. Really lame. Cause stam really needs that with executes built into all their weapons.

Extremly unbalanced support compared to rest of them...

@ZOS_BrianWheeler how cone arcantist has better has minor courage? No other class will ever be able to compare?

How come they can shield better than a dk?

How come they get to give allies both magic and stamina without being tied to orb synergy cool down like templar?

Why don't you use it anyway?? The damage scales off whichever is higher weapon or spell damage.

    Just go hybrid.
I'm going to use both the Rune blades AND the Abyssal Impact execute.
Only need like 10 attribute points into stam.

I'm going to do it the opposite and only put 10 points into magicka.

Because your resource matters, an execute is meant to be spammed in execute range and even hybrids still build up one resource more as a primary because of how spamming and weaving works. If you are a magicka primary a stam execute is not usually worth it. A stam buff or occasional dot or heal works fine, but not a spamming attack. So again, they have decided to deny magicka a execute.

Also, not everyone wants to hybrid. Some people just wanna be goober wizards and goofy warriors.

I thought we were better than this... I am disappointed how unbalanced everything on support line is.

Make an way over powered class to sell it better? Warden was already the favorite child but this is on another level.

Make something the only option as support or healer to sell a chapter... like....words I can't say.
